Priority Prayer Focus May 28, 2014
“Speak the truth in love.” Some emphasize speaking the truth – no matter how brutally the speech is delivered. Others emphasize the love part to such an extent that little truth gets spoken. We are called to find the balance of speaking the truth in love. Even as we are called to be salt and light in our communities. But it is hard to be a light if we are too fearful to be salt at the same time. Pray that we may all walk in the balance that God calls us to in His word.

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel
Ron Cantor of Tiferet Yeshua
congregation in Tel Aviv compares the team building they are doing in their
congregation with some of the earliest pioneer immigrants in Zichron Yaakov which
the congregational team visited together recently. The Jewish immigrants in 1882 shared a dream
of a restored Jewish nation, but they discovered soon enough that the reality
was harsher than the dream. If not for
outside assistance – help they could not do without the dream would not become
reality. Their help came through the
assistance of a French banker name Rothschild who helped them start a winery to
employ the locals.
The Messianic community of Israel has no “Rothschild (yet!),” writes Cantor, “willing to finance the coming Israeli revival. Instead, God is using believers from all over the world to stand with the Israeli body of believers. People like YOU.”
Find an Israeli ministry of like precious faith and be the help-mate they need to build the kingdom of the Messiah in Israel.

The Hebrew-speaking
congregation in Arad, Kehilah Hasdey Yeshua (Mercy of Yeshua), begins with a description
of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Israeli Memorial
and Indepence Days – then transition into the “remembrance” of the
everyday benefits of Lord that they also do not want to be lax in. One area they are thankful for is for being
able to make continued inroads with the ultra-orthodox community. For those of you who don’t know, the
believers in Arad and in Beer Sheva receive a high level of harassment and
persecution from the “Heredi” religious community who after the disengagement
of Gaza, have become a major population force in the Negev cities.
Though persecuted by the
religious zealots, the believers pray for their persecutors and whnever
possible to show the love of Yeshua to them.
One zealous young religious man stopped his usual antics one day to talk
for about an hour with one of the Arad believers who believe the young man is
very hungry and thirsty for relationship with God that he sees among the
believers. Pray for him.
Another instance where opportunity came to extend
lovingkindess to one who dishes out a lot of abuse to the believers, resulted
when the haredi woman was stranded on the road, distressed and needing a ride.
One of the believer ladies she especially yells at, saw, stopped to offer a
ride and by the end of it, they parted as friends. This is what Yeshua meant when He talked
about going the extra mile.

Israel Pochtar is another Negev Messianic
leader who has seen their share of harassment from the religious opposition –
but the Beit Hallel congregation presses in to reach their people. A couple of days ago they launched a new 8
week ALPHA course with 147 people attending “with food, short talks and discussions aimed
at getting people to contemplate the meaning of life and explore the beauty of
fellowship with God and faith in Yeshua.”
Pochtar asks prayer for their person leading the cours, for the
administration organizing the meetings, financial provision and resources for
each meeting and last but not least, “For people's hearts to be open and
receptive, to increased hunger to know God intimately and receive Yeshua into
their hearts.”
The congregation also hosted the “Texas
Vikings” at the congregation with a demonstration of their unusual physical strength. But most surprising, Pochtar said, was how
many people came forward when these men called any who wanted prayer. Close to 150 non believers attended the performance
and 20 came forward to receive Yeshua.
Another event in their city of Ashdod is the Art Exhibit for local artists at their congregation. Pochtar, who worked in coordination with the city of Ashdod, writes, “…we are also counting on some key speakers and city officials attending. Although there were a few who canceled their attendance when they learned we are a messianic congregation, the rest were actually even more determined to come and be a part of this special event. It only comes to show what a long way we've come in the city that even though there is still a certain amount of opposition, on the other hand there's much more support coming from surprising directions, such as some city officials.”
It was good to hear from Miriam Abramov of
Awake Israel Ministries and Avney Nezer (Jewels in the Crown) congregation. As you may know Miriam has been on our Urgent
Healing list for many months but now is happy to say, “all healed!” She and husband Shlomy (who was a young body guard
for Ariel Sharon back in the day) are getting into the swing of their summer
outreach with a weekly BBQ & Bible
Study. They also began a Russian
fellowship for seekers.
Miriam writes, “We wait for a few small teams to help us this summer to reach thousands and we can, when God sends helpers to this pioneer region of Israel. We are highly unreached for Christ, 99% unreached. Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the
tongue
Please keep in prayer the Israeli
believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:
- Pray for Messianic leader Marcel Rebiai of Shemen Sasson congregation in Jerusalem as he recovers from major back surgery.
- Praise report from David Lazarus of Beit Immauel: The dear sister who prepares our breakfast and also makes the food for the children on Friday evenings discovered that she has a cancerous growth. The whole congregation has come along side in practical support and prayer. Three weeks ago she gave a glorious testimony to God's touch in her life and has now received a doctor's confirmation that the cancer is in submission!
- Brian Slater’s wife Racheli As of a few weeks back there was talk that she would have to go back to surgery and start from the beginning. According to her recent doctor visit, her bone fusion is moving forward, however she is still having regular terrible pain. Thank you and thanks unto our Lord Yeshua for answering your prayers as we put our faith in The Holy One of Israel.
- Miriam Abramov of AwakeIsrael reports Hallelujah! All healed now!
- Arni & Yonit Klein of Emmaus Way request prayers for staff in the U.S. (Becky and Keith) and in Germany (Hannah) as they heal from extremely serious injuries received in accidents.
- Four elder ministry leaders in Israel, are dealing with Parkinson’s which is a neurological syndrome. Since they have not shared this information, I will just ask for you to please pray for them each to be able to continue to live normal lives, and for the hand of the LORD to bless them with healing.
- Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been quite a long while since we heard any update, if any of you in Israel can input new information it would be appreciated.
- Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the Purim 2008 bomb blast – all this time later there are still painful procedures, lack of recognition from the government of this terror victim status.
- Guy Cohen of Harvest of Asher asks for continued prayer for Marlene’s physical healing. For Misha, who has diabetes & was hospitalized w/infection and blood clot in his leg; for Jenia diagnosed with Hepatitis; Chen (Cohen) whose foot swelled double-sized after stepping on a rusty nail.

Unity, Leadership and Anointing

| There is a special connection
between unity among leadership and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. I am
involved in several leadership groups, such as our Revive Israel team, Ahavat
Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem, Tiferet Yeshua congregation in Tel Aviv, and
the Messianic Jewish Alliance of Israel. My longest standing relationships are
with the Tikkun International senior team (Dan Juster, Eitan Shishkoff, David
Rudolph, Paul Wilbur). In all these groups, we seek to build through teamwork,
while seeking the Lord in prayer and worship.
In Acts 1, we find Yeshua’s disciples praying together
in one heart under the leadership of the apostles. As a result, the fire of the
Holy Spirit was poured out in Acts 2. This unified prayer demanded
extraordinary investment in covenantal relationships between them
“horizontally,” as well as devotional purity towards God “vertically.”
Behold how
good and pleasant for brothers to dwell in unity. It is like the good oil on
the head coming down on the beard, the beard of Aharon, coming down on his
garments, like the dew of Hermon, coming down on the mountains of Zion. For
there YHVH commanded the blessing, life forevermore. Psalm 133:1-3
The Hebrew word for “beard” – zakan – is from the same
root as that for “elder” – zaken. The anointing of the Holy Spirit flows down
from Yeshua our High Priest through the leadership like oil. This classic
Davidic psalm may have a current day – end times application. If unity among
leadership and the anointing of the Holy Spirit can be restored here in “Zion,”
then a huge blessing of revival and resurrection life may be released to the
whole world (Romans 11:12-17).
Building
Covenant Communities by Dan Juster
| In this modern age of
alienation and social "drifting," we are proclaiming: obedience to
Yeshua requires the building of discipling communities under the oversight of a
qualified eldership.
Some try to get away from the claim of congregational
commitment by stating that the congregation of Yeshua is an invisible, mystical
