“For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you….Then you shall see and become radiant, And your heart shall swell with joy; Because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, The wealth of the Gentiles shall come to you.” Isaiah 60:2 and :5
Doesn’t it seem like these are the days? We are continually trying to maintain a balance in what we put forward in these Israelprayer issues from week to week. We refuse to be all happy talk and no reality, but the truth is exactly as the prophet Isaiah said it would be – gross darkness in the people of the world at the same time the glory of the LORD is arising upon His people Israel.
This week, once again, we see the Israeli ministry leaders in the cross hairs of religious opposition, yet the glory of the Lord is upon them and they keep moving forward in the power of His might. Pray for those the Lord is stirring with a heart toward Israel would get more precise understanding of how to express that first to the household of faith.

As Daniel put it “…but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” Thank God that despite persecution, God is also granting great favor – the same as Daniel experienced as his influence was rising in the kingdom. Pray for the Israeli ministry leaders standing in this precise position.
While many rabbis plot against the ministries, the congregations and believers in Israel, many Christians align themselves with unsaved rabbis – even turning over their pulpits to them and encouraging their churches to buy their products. I don’t say this in an attitude of finger pointing, but in great anguish for resources diverted away from the Lord’s Israeli harvest. Should this state of affairs not break our hearts?
Continue to pray for the Ortiz family and the upcoming Dec 2nd hearing which it will be determined whether Jack Teitel will even stand trial for murder and attempted murder, or whether he will be excused as mentally unfit to stand trial. This is such a ruse – please pray in the Spirit over this one.
Pray also for the Ortiz family, as they are under the weight also of what his means for the greater community of the faith in Israel if their son’s bomber is allowed to dodge a full court trial and accountability for his religious murder. Grant wisdom and grace to those in persecution.
Thank God for every single person that the Lord has stirred up to stand with the believers in Israel in their trials and in their labor of love in Yeshua’s Israeli harvest. Truly you are the ones of which it was said, I will bless those that bless you!
For years the huge haredi ultra-orthodox population in the Negev has put the believers in Beer Sheva and Arad in the cross hairs for a testing out a model of how far they could go and get away with persecution against believers. The next target apparently is going to be the Yad Hashmona Christian and Messianic community. Pray for this unfolding situation. (Inside Weekly Summary links to 2 news articles).
The Jerusalem Institute of Justice is taking an active role in trying to bring the International Red Cross back to its founder’s original intent and vision of Israel as essential to the survival of the Jewish people. Pray for Calev in this, and in being specifically targeted by the Chabad this in attempts to destroy his influence in the Knesset.
Called by one Beer Sheva pastor “Israel's southern command center,” the HaMaKoM Bible House is a strategic, worthy and struggling ministry in the Negev Desert. Please pray for the young leader of this ministry, for his family, the staff and all the events that are held in this place. They need the windows of heaven to open to them.
Jews didn’t invent family, but the Jews were certainly the first people group that God instructed in how important the family unit was to Him. Pray for the families of all the believers in Israel. Pray for the families of the Arab Christians….and for all those God has, or will place a claim on their lives.
A vision of the Crusader amphitheater in Caesarea filled with people singing the songs of Zion and of the love of Yeshua in Hebrew with all their might was shared by an Israeli pastor this week. It captured our imagination too! Can’t you envision it? It is surely coming! Pray for the Messianic psalmists of Israel.

Warfare against believers is heating up again in the “holy land” which is how God prophetically envisions this people “holy,” both Jewish and Arab inhabitants. The Messianic Jewish and Arab Christian ministries of Israel are His appointed ones to the salvation of the holy land.
Pray for those ministries who are enduring various forms of persecution – from the stun grenade that was thrown into the Immanuel Church Bible shop in Haifa wounding the son of the pastor, to the city of Arad shutting down the private residence where 3 congregations shared space to meet for prayer & services.
The apostle John said “even now are there many antichrists” which is defined by Strong’s as “adversary of the Messiah.” Whether it is the seriously deluded religious zealots of Yad L’Achim, or the ultra-Orthodox Hasidim, or whether it is Islamist extremists like Hamas, Islamic Jihad – both Messianic Jewish and Arab Christian ministries are targets of these antichrists. Pray for grace on these godly ones.
Pray for those entrapped by darkness for even the worst of the worst can find the Savior if the Father reveals Him to them. For the ministers of Light, that the men and women of God may be perfect, thoroughly equipped for all good works.
This week the Jerusalem Post made the case for Israeli acceptance of the $78 million that IFCJ’s Rabbi Eckstein collects from Christians for charity in Israel. But Eckstein is clear: I will never work with groups like Jews for Jesus or Messianic community. That means Christians are giving millions to a man who is “an adversary of the Messiah” and the indigenous believers get nothing but the crumbs of donations in comparison. AWAKE CHURCH! Throw off your sleepiness!
Pray that there will be a turnaround – that Christians will no longer heap resources on anti-Messiah organizations in order to “bless Israel.” Pray for an awakening of the precious believer ministries who have been getting only the leftover crumbs of this generosity towards Israel.
There are MANY ministries – both Jewish and Arab believers in Israel - who are so limited because the financial support from the nations to Israeli ministries is so minimal. If you will open the Weekly Summary, print it out and set it someplace where you can read through this week, you will meet them.
In a response to a prophecy about a worldwide famine coming in Acts 11 a special offering was sent to Israeli believers – the least able to do anything about provision for the coming famine. THIS IS STILL TRUE, but where is the care the Antioch church demonstrated? Pray for release of understanding this need and answer still applies today.
Let our hearts break understanding the limited resources Israeli ministries receive against the reality of Christian giving to non-harvest producing organizations. This makes some of my Israeli friends uncomfortable for me to emphasize, but I goad us Gentile Christians as a Gentile Christian.
Jack Teitel, the man who set a bomb at the residence doorstep of the Messianic Ortiz family in Ariel, will appear again in court on Dec 2nd where the court will decide if he is mentally fit to stand trial. This mental instability is a ploy that has been used before. Please pray that a dangerous precedent is not set by relieving Teitel of accountability. It will endanger the Messianic community. In Arad, in the midst of persecution by the ultra-Orthodox majority in the city where law enforcement and politicians do the bidding of religious “adversaries of the Messiah”, the LORD is also moving on some to see through the false accusations and to repent of the evil against believers. The apostle Paul said he was as one born out of due time – premature – which means many more persecutors will have a Damascus Road experience! Let us pray into that for Arad, Beer Sheva, Gaza, the West Bank, Haifa…..
Pray for Paul Sherbow’s wife Hana who has been diagnosed with cancer. The news has come just as a ministry trip was about to be made to raise funds for the coming quarter. Cover them in prayer for healing and provision – and for any who are fighting deadly diseases among the Body.
This week marked the beginning of a multi-ministry tour group which brings Christians to Israel not only to see the historic sites but also to connect with the ministry works in Israel. Pray for more tour groups to connect with believer ministries in Israel and to catch a vision of what Yeshua’s harvest in Israel is all about.
After a sabbatical year, a ministry to orphans, widows and single parents is enlarging its tent pegs. It is the LORD that gives these visions to expand even in times of drought, pray that supporters catch the vision with the ministries so there is enough in the storehouses to distribute freely in the Name of Yeshua.
This week Ron Cantor shared an experience of a highway traffic shutdown as authorities investigated a potential terror bomb. This also happened to me in my first visit to Israel in 2003. I encourage you to open the Weekly Summary and read Ron’s report because it is important to understand the continual threat of terror Israelis live with in everyday life.
Howard Bass reports fresh from Korea, the “Ahava Israel (love Israel) Leadership Meeting 2010. Praise God for how He is raising up believers in the Far East to stand with the Body of Messiah in Israel. We must all go beyond supporting Israel, to supporting the plan of God for Israel: to receive Messiah!
Guy Cohen also recently traveled to Japan and Korea, where he was brought to tears seeing exactly what the Lord had shown him in the spirit, to envision for the believers in the Galilee. These ministries are such good soil to sow into; their hearts are burning with vision to minister to their nation.

Setbacks in the Israeli courts for Messianic believers is the biggest news of the week, with the latest ruling against Eddie Beckford, a Christian who lives in Arad – the epicenter for several years of systematic ultra-Orthodox harassment of believers. Pray for the Arad believers living under intense pressure.
Pray for the Beckford’s – Eddie has been under house arrest 2 ½-plus years. Lura needs help being the court-recognized ‘watcher’ of Eddie who has another court case on the 25th with an even harsher judge. Yeshua never promised us the world systems would treat us fair, but He did say they would know us by our love for one another. Practical issues like being able to get out to buy groceries or tend the King’s Men are an issue right now.
It is very easy to criticize and find fault when you are not the one targeted for persecution. Job’s friends came to comfort him and ended up leveling every accusation they could imagine to explain his circumstances. There is no “yeah, but…” to excuse this response to the Beckfords.
Meanwhile, praise God that some hearts are being pricked by people in Arad who have been watching – some even participating – in the harassment of believers by the religious. There are reports that God is moving some to ask for forgiveness. Pray the hearts of many would be pricked, in Beersheva, too.
Pray for the well being of families among the congregations of Israel – that God would change lives, wreck the plans of the enemy to destroy, and that Yeshua would build up His Body in Israel with strong, thriving families. Agree that every curse be broken in family lines and the Joy of the Lord to become their strength.
Scripture says that the Jews need a sign – and God is certainly giving signs, even dreams and visions of Yeshua in His glory to 5 year old children! Can you imagine how this ignites the faith of a mom to be bold in her prayer and witness? Pray that God would touch the lives of new families coming into the faith – solidly and dramatically.
Each year a new crop of Israeli high school grads prepares to enter into their mandatory military service and many of those young people come out of the Messianic congregations. Pray for all the soldiers, but especially pray for the believer soldiers & their families, mighty men & women of valor.
Back in school – whether the few believer schools or public schools – pray for the children of believing families to have great grace to be shining lights for Yeshua. Also pray for good friends and ability to connect with other kids who are believers.
Pray for much needed provisions for the congregations to strengthen families and children – whether the need is for teachers, facilities or any other resources, pray that the heart of the Father will move on those who can be a blessing.
One highly respected Israeli pastor wrote this week: “Despite the faithfulness of the congregation in its tithes and offerings, we continue to suffer from under-capitalization with little or no possibility of developing a reserve for difficult times. This is inevitable when the vast majority of the community lives on the 'breadline'…“ Pray for the heart of the Father to stir givers from the nations to meet these needs.
Israeli Jewish and Christian Arab brothers continue to break thru the walls of partition, to forge bonds of brotherhood and minister side-by-side in the ministry of reconciliation. Speak blessing and opportunity upon these brothers and sisters; among those the minister to the opening of blind eyes.
Working together Jews and Arabs who love Yeshua the Messiah in Israel are reaching their people with New Testaments written in Hebrew and Arabic. Pray for these ministers who often tread in dangerous places, to draw believers from around the world who will pray and partner with them in the Lord’s work.
The Holy Spirit is preparing hearts all over Israel and in the West Bank and Gaza. Then the Messianic Jewish and Christian Arab believers are led to cross paths if only briefly. The seed is watered, caused to grow by the Son, and the laborers in the harvest come at just the right moment to reap. Praise God!
When the most widely read newspaper in Israel runs a respectful, fair profile of the believers in Israel under the title “Jesus lives on in Jerusalem,” doesn’t that confirm what the leaders have been noticing? There is a new openness to the gospel in Israel. Now is the time to pray for much fruit.
Pray for new sources of financial resources – whether it be by translation services, tour guide, and all the means ministries are supplementing their living expenses – to increase. Pray God would grant them favor with men.
Bless those who are ambassadors of the Messiah in all walks of life – whether it is the mom in the grocery store or the human rights attorney appealing to the Red Cross in Switzerland to return to its founder’s compassion on Israel – pray that each one profoundly impact their sphere for Yeshua.

The article is really a profile of the growing community of Jesus followers in the Land, and is remarkably devoid of cynicism, snideness or derision. To the contrary, it is really quite respectful of the life-changing beliefs of the Israelis they interview and profile. “Muslims Coming to Christ at Historic Rate” A report from a Messianic Jewish evangelist in Jerusalem on the good news that is spreading in Muslim nations of the Middle East. There are reports that God is moving some to ask for forgiveness. Pray the hearts of many would be pricked, in Beersheva, too.
Pray for the well being of families among the congregations of Israel – that God would change lives, wreck the plans of the enemy to destroy, and that Yeshua would build up His Body in Israel with strong, thriving families. Agree that every curse be broken in family lines and the Joy of the Lord to become their strength.
Scripture says that the Jews need a sign – and God is certainly giving signs, even dreams and visions of Yeshua in His glory to 5 year old children! Can you imagine how this ignites the faith of a mom to be bold in her prayer and witness? Pray that God would touch the lives of new families coming into the faith – solidly and dramatically.
Each year a new crop of Israeli high school grads prepares to enter into their mandatory military service and many of those young people come out of the Messianic congregations. Pray for all the soldiers, but especially pray for the believer soldiers & their families, mighty men & women of valor.
Back in school – whether the few believer schools or public schools – pray for the children of believing families to have great grace to be shining lights for Yeshua. Also pray for good friends and ability to connect with other kids who are believers.
Pray for much needed provisions for the congregations to strengthen families and children – whether the need is for teachers, facilities or any other resources, pray that the heart of the Father will move on those who can be a blessing.
One highly respected Israeli pastor wrote this week: “Despite the faithfulness of the congregation in its tithes and offerings, we continue to suffer from under-capitalization with little or no possibility of developing a reserve for difficult times. This is inevitable when the vast majority of the community lives on the 'breadline'…“ Pray for the heart of the Father to stir givers from the nations to meet these needs.
Israeli Jewish and Christian Arab brothers continue to break thru the walls of partition, to forge bonds of brotherhood and minister side-by-side in the ministry of reconciliation. Speak blessing and opportunity upon these brothers and sisters; among those the minister to the opening of blind eyes.
Working together Jews and Arabs who love Yeshua the Messiah in Israel are reaching their people with New Testaments written in Hebrew and Arabic. Pray for these ministers who often tread in dangerous places, to draw believers from around the world who will pray and partner with them in the Lord’s work.
The Holy Spirit is preparing hearts all over Israel and in the West Bank and Gaza. Then the Messianic Jewish and Christian Arab believers are led to cross paths if only briefly. The seed is watered, caused to grow by the Son, and the laborers in the harvest come at just the right moment to reap. Praise God!
When the most widely read newspaper in Israel runs a respectful, fair profile of the believers in Israel under the title “Jesus lives on in Jerusalem,” doesn’t that confirm what the leaders have been noticing? There is a new openness to the gospel in Israel. Now is the time to pray for much fruit.
Pray for new sources of financial resources – whether it be by translation services, tour guide, and all the means ministries are supplementing their living expenses – to increase. Pray God would grant them favor with men.
Bless those who are ambassadors of the Messiah in all walks of life – whether it is the mom in the grocery store or the human rights attorney appealing to the Red Cross in Switzerland to return to its founder’s compassion on Israel – pray that each one profoundly impact their sphere for Yeshua.

The end of the summer heat wave is broken; now despite predictions of a dry winter, join in praying for God to grant Israel a miracle of an abundant rainy season to replenish much needed water supplies. Pray for natural and spiritual rains to fall unexpectedly in plenty this season.
Read today that Western Christians donate 90% of the 2.5% of their income to their own local church. If that figure is true, can you imagine what percentage of the leftover is donated to the indigenous Israeli ministries? Seems worthy of becoming a prayer point for the foreseeable future…especially in these days when everyone is hurting – even the biggest ministry names.
Israeli ministries met together recently and testimony after testimony between these leaders showed that there is a new level of openness to the gospel among Israelis. God promised to return with mercies on Israel, opening the eyes that had been blinded. This is that and we get to pray into the harvest.
We don’t think of Israel as being a “melting pot” but indeed it is with Jews from nations the world over and the Body in Israel is doing outreach among the various communities, Russian , Ethiopian, Sephardic – from the north, south, east & west they’ve come. Now may blind eyes see Messiah by revelation!
Did you know that nearly 23.6% of the people in Israel and some 35.9% of its children lived in poverty conditions? That’s why the indigenous Body of Messiah are doing such important humanitarian outreach in the name of Yeshua. Let’s not forget to help those who help others in HIS name.
One apostolic Israeli brother speaks of how there were attacks on the pastors in Israel this past year, and how Teamwork, Training and Teachability provide a hedge of spiritual protection. May all the ministers receive those things that protect, preserve and proliferate the life of Yeshua among us.
Pray for the Beckfords who are back in Israel after a 5 month tour. Their next court date on the house arrest is Sunday, Oct 10….which is also their wedding anniversary. Pray that they will have two excellent reasons to celebrate at the end of the day!
The news from Arad is both good and bad – the several congregations sharing the same facility to meet in are now without a place to meet. It is common for believers to lose their rental homes and congregational facilities to persecution. But some key opposition there are repenting & asking forgiveness also. Pray for a permanent facility that no man can kick them out of.
The gospel in Israel is being carried person to person – the opportunities of daily life are seeing the Light of Yeshua shining through individual lives. No big stadium meetings, but the Messiah is revealing Himself in His servants and it is a powerful testimony to hungry hearts. Pray for the harvest.
After putting the finishing touches on their latest CD project, Shani Sorko-Ram Ferguson who is 2 months pregnant, began to experience pains like labor pains. The hospital says baby is fine & can find no reason for the pains. Pray for the Fergusons – for God to perfect that which is within the womb.
