Priority Prayer Focus June 19, 2013
In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. Isaiah 29:18
In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, And the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness. Isaiah 29:18
Pray for the eyes of the blind to be opened and
the ears of the deaf to hear. This
prayer is not only for those who have yet to see Yeshua/Jesus is the Son of
God, it is also for those in the Church who still are blind and deaf to God’s
faithfulness to Israel (the Jewish people) and His plan to bring them to
salvation by faith in Yeshua.
Which comes first? The opening of the Church’s
eyes to Israel’s salvation, or Israel’s salvation as it progresses on making
the eyes of the reluctant Church to open?
Contact information for all the ministries is included
inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua (Love of Yeshua) writes this week of a
central tenant of the apostle Paul’s writing, that of the establishment and
strengthening of local congregations.
The Jerusalem congregation has made it a centerpiece of the work to
build strong relationships with a major emphasis on servanthood. “ We are happy to report that
by God's grace, our congregation is flourishing and growing!”
Santoro writes: “Israel is a highly pressurized society in which people work long hours and children attend school six days a week. Many people do not have cars and are dependent on public transportation to get places. All of this leaves very little free time and events that are organized and happen effortlessly in many other places present a significant challenge in this nation.”
Despite the press of time, the congregation offers many times of
fellowship and “body building” meetings for new members. Pray for the congregations of Israel as they
gather together as families representing Yeshua in the Land. As Santoro said, “It was for ‘relationship’ that God sent his only begotten son to this
earth so that those who believe could have relationship with the Creator of us
all. It is in the relationship between God's people that his love is made
manifest and seen by the world.”
In the Negev city of Beer Sheva, Nachalat Yeshua (Yeshua’s Inheritance)
congregational leader, Howard Bass has been teaching on baptisms and is
rejoicing in the baptism of a woman and two of her daughters at their Shabbat
service last week. The family emigrated
from Peru seven years ago and after coming to the congregation a few months
ago, have found Yeshua and new purpose for their lives.
One of the daughters has been taunted at school for her faith as people told her, ‘Yeshu is bad.’ Bass writes, “She tells them back that He is not, and that His name is Yeshua! 'Yeshu' is the truncated name that most Israeli Jews call Yeshua, thinking this to be His name, but it is actually an acronym from the Talmud for blotting out His name and memory. The truth is that His name is Yeshua, for He will save (yoshia) His people from their sins. There are two others in the congregation seriously considering being baptized soon.”
Pray for the people of Israel, who as Howard Bass noted are in a “dry and thirsty land not yet desperate enough for the only true source of true peace and rest.” Pray that God will remove the blinders from their eyes – that they may see Yeshua. Pray also for Olga, a 17 year old from Kazakhstan, who lost her leg there after being run over and then was moved to Israel for doctors to save her right leg. The teens of the Beer Sheva congregation have become attached to Olga and her dire situation. In the unsearchable judgments of God, both Olga and her mother (also named Olga) have come to know Jesus since being in Israel!
As Howard writes after visiting her with the Beer Sheva teens, “When you consider how quickly your life can be completely wrecked in a moment of time -- and as I'm thinking that one of our own children could potentially have had this happen -- you are at a loss for words, and the emotions just plead for God's tender mercies. “
Please keep the children of the ministry leaders in Israel in prayer. It seems to be a favorite weapon the enemy forms against these leaders to experience the pain of at least one child who becomes a prodigal, walking far from the faith in Messiah. This is nothing to be critical toward the ministry leaders – but to be taken up in prayer. If the enemy cannot get to you, the evil one looks around for someone close to you. Pray that God will move in all the situations of the prodigals – whether it be children or spouses – that they would return to their senses and return to the House of their Father.
The Harvest of Asher congregation in Acco is still looking for a secretary to Guy Cohen who leads the congregation, and also for Shabbat school teachers for believers of all ages. They also want prayer for God’s guidance in expanding their humanitarian aid warehouse ahead of expected war breaking out in the north.
The Beckfords in Arad have run into more trouble as the ultra-Orthodox are putting the squeeze on their landlord who is now refusing to honor his contract with them on their house (which also hosts the Hebrew and Russian Arad worship services each week). Please pray for them – they need a miracle – specifically “a Jew” to buy the house for them to operate from freely.
There are two calls in this issue of the attached Weekly Summary for volunteers from the nations to come work. One is in the Beckford’s prayer excerpt and is for a new Christian Bedouin School in Arad that needs workers and Christian Arab teachers. The other is a 3-month program with the House of Victory (a men’s rehab program that is an outreach of the Carmel Assembly and run by Eric Benson.) Read more inside the Weekly Summary for details and contact information.
Rona Canto shares from a message, an article on the spirit of rejection. “You may be the most rejected person on earth, but if you are a child of God you are greatly beloved in heaven. The New Testament reveals God’s heart for those who have suffered severe rejection from people.” Continue reading here

From the Messianic attorneys of the Jerusalem Institute of Justice is a report of how JIJ and grass roots activism halted a plan by the city of Boulder, Colorado from becoming a sister city to Nablus in the West Bank (a Palestinian-controlled area). JIJ was able to share their sincere desire to help the Palestinian people, but pointed out how “local governmental partnerships with the Palestinian Authority will prove counter-productive to helping their people. Worse, Boulder would contradict, by formal partnership, her own deeply held convictions in support of human rights.”
JIJ writes: If you know of similar initiatives being made in your area, would you please contact our representatives in the United States? contactus@jij.org.il
Asher Intrater’s Revive Israel sends out an appeal from James Ameer who is working with a Syrian Refugee Ministry to help some of the estimated 10 million Syrian refugees who have fled to other nations. You can read all about what they are providing and also how to help as they receive donations for the work over the next 60 days.
The Revive Israel prayer letter also provides an explanation of the situation in Turkey by Michael Kerem, which shows how Turkey is at a major crossroads between a slide from democracy and freedom of expression back into an Islamist caliphate. Erdogan is not the friendly head of state this current administration would have Americans believe.
Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the
tongue
Please keep in prayer the Israeli
believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:
·
Pray for David Ortiz who underwent two emergency surgeries due to
complications after his June 6 laparoscopic surgery to remove a tumor that is
one stage before cancer according to doctors. Pray against infection and for
God to restore David’s strength. Also pray for Leah and Ami. This family has
been through so much! Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the
bomb blast – and that he would win the appeal for government recognition that
he is a terror victim. It would mean
benefits for the continuing surgeries and legal expenses.
·
Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an
Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently
diagnosed with breast cancer.
·
Please continue to pray for Neriyah Arabov, a Chosen People
minister in Bat Yam who needs a kidney transplant. He has a donor, but due to
some compatibility issues, Neriyah is undergoing treatments now that they hope
will remove the compatibility issues.
Pray for the treatments to be successful.
·
Please continue to intercede for Katya Morrison at Tents of Mercy this
week to get another
bone marrow biopsy then in another 3 weeks, an appointment to discuss the
findings: Pray for no leukemia to be the
report.
·
Tom Bender in the Galilee is believing for
victory over cancer in Carmel.
·
Pray for Ariel of Succat Hallel.
·
Elise Glasser-Levine of Ahavat Yeshua
suffering from mysterious and debilitating leg pain for over a year.
·
Pray for Kay Wilson still suffering from PTSD after surviving a stabbing
terrorism attack that her friend did not survive.
- Keep Baby Netaley’s full recovery in your prayers.
- Harvest of Asher asks for continued prayer for Elena’s full recovery and for minimal side effects as she goes through the chemo and radiation treatments; also grace with the bureaucratic and legal process for receipt of benefits from her employer. They also ask prayer for M. who had surgery not long ago and his system is going through many changes causing the need for various health issues to be addressed on a continuing basis. Please keep him in your prayers.
