Priority Prayer Focus July 31, 2013

Israel is a prophetic land and people. The Lord said that in the last days He would bring back His people, not to occupy the land, but to repossess it.  - David Ortiz, Ariel Fellowship

Ezekiel 11:17  "Tell them, 'The Lord and King says, "I will gather you from the nations. I will bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered. I will give you back the land of Israel."'

No matter what the nations have to say about it, the Word of the LORD is the last word on the matter.  David Ortiz made the startlingly deep, yet simple statement above that just cuts out all the argumentative clutter.  It is one of many contained in the 4-part testimony David and Leah have been filing over the past month.  If you haven’t been reading those testimonies, you are missing a lot.

Let’s pray for understanding to be released among, first, the people who call upon the name of the LORD, that the simple truth as David and Ezekiel faithfully communicated it, will begin to release within the Church.  We always start there – within our own ranks - with the release of truth and purity, and then it can work outward to the world.

Arrows from Zion
Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Part 4, the final installment from David Ortiz’ testimony of recently walking through the valley of the shadow death, is something I hope everyone will read.  David and Leah have been through incredible fires, and have come out of them purified.  All four parts of this testimony which the two share are filled with startling insights and inspiring testimonies of what God can do will those who let Him use them no matter what is happening .

Inside the Weekly Summary, we’ve taken just one powerful excerpt from this part 4, which communicates how God is using the Israeli believers to impact their communities in the name of Yeshua. For my really smart subscribers
J you can read all four parts in Leah’s Updates at http://www.amiortiz.com

As David and Leah wrote me a few days ago, “ In general we don't report everything we are doing in Ariel with such detail like I did from the hospital least the anti missionaries sabotage us.”

There are many such things going on among the Israeli ministries that have to be kept close to the vest in order to protect the working of the Holy Spirit among Israelis and Arabs.

This week we are happy to introduce a ministry that is new to us, but who have been doing the faithful work of the ministry for a long time in the Negev and in south Tel Aviv.  Dov Bikas, of the Aviv Ministry, ministers to the street people of Israel’s ‘Sin City’ Tel Aviv.  They minister to all sorts of substance abuse, prostitutes, homeless and minister to Jews, Arabs, Russians and Africans.  See Dov’s personal testimony here and a 7-minute video about their ministry work here.

“Something significant and miraculous is taking place at the Food Distribution Center in Netanya,” writes Brian Slater of Yeshua’s Fresh Bread in Israel.  “A moving of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) is occurring as international volunteers and local Messianic believers gather together and boldly pray with those voluntary come and ask for prayer on top of receiving their physical needs package of dry food.”  Brian gives us praise reports about people coming for prayer and also responding to the call of Yeshua to salvation.  Read it inside the attached Weekly Summary.  As usual, we want to protect the work of the LORD in the lives there from anti-missionary intrusion.

Last week we heard from Howard Bass in Beer Sheva that the LORD is stirring the waters in that city, too.  Let’s take that as a head’s up that the Holy Spirit is increasingly the level of His stirrings with the people of Israel, to open their hearts toward Yeshua – and let’s pray in agreement with it as Ezekiel’s prophetic word says:   Then said He unto me, Prophesy unto the Ruach, prophesy, son of man, and say to the Ruach, Thus says the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.”  Ezekiel 37:9

Brian noted that an American couple who came to volunteer at the distribution center encouraged the “local Messianic believers to begin praying over their people with the laying on of hands. These local volunteers were filled with even more joy as they saw what the Holy Spirit was doing through them and that their ‘people’ were receptive to prayer from them.  Praying in this manner was a new thing for these Russian believers and while they were nervous at first; they boldly prayed out loud and with fervency for their people.”

Like a contemporary Aquila and Pricilla, don’t you think? Pray for more Christians to come to Israel willing to roll up their sleeves and hand out bread to the people, also to impart boldness to some to lay hands on those they pray for expecting the Holy Spirit of the LORD to move.

By the way, Brian Slater was featured in the premier episode of Living Stones Television.  You can watch the 30 minute program here.  Asher Intrater was also featured in that episode.

Asher Intrater shares this week about a couple in their community who were originally from Columbia who have suffered the violent deaths of several family members in Columbia over the past couple of years – cold blooded murders in the street.  Last month, the husband lost a second brother who was gunned down in the street as he was leaving his business.  The believers helped the couple to fly to Columbia to visit the family, where they “proclaimed the kingdom of God and exhorted them to repent. He explained that only Yeshua can stop these tragedies."  By the end of the trip, all 60 extended family members had prayed to receive the LORD.  Praise God, who alone can redeem even the great tragedies of our lives.

Also see Asher’s Teaching, Perfect Balance.

Maoz Ministries, Ari & Shira Sorko-Ram who founded Tiferet Yeshua congregation in Israel, are asking for prayer for the congregation which is now headed by Asher Intrater and a team of elders. The anti-missionary group Yad L’Achim has begun lying in wait at the congregational door before service times to intimidate and harass the congregants.  Maoz asks prayer for the young in faith, that they will hold steady in the face of intimidation tactics.

The football analogy we have long heard in spiritual circles is that “The opposition team only tries to tackle the ones carrying the ball.”  When Yad L’Achim shows up on the doorstep, this is a true indication that Kingdom business is advancing!  Please pray for all Messianic believers who are being persecuted by religious zealots – and also for the Christian Arabs who are being persecuted by Muslim zealots.

Evan Levine, who is currently touring in the U.S. on behalf of the HaTikva Project, writes of a recent Ethiopian Jewish believer who was helped by HaTikva.  This is one of the few organizations that specifically seek to help with the needs of the believers in Israel and it is also headed by Coach Bill McCartney and Dr. Raleigh Washington.  Evan, who is a worship leader in the Ahavat Yeshua congregation administers the funds.  You can
view their video here

Eddie Santoro, who is the pastor of the Ahavat Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem is reporting yet another wave of births among their young Jerusalem congregation.  Be fruitful and multiply!  Eddie also gives one of the excellent news overviews featured this week in the Praying the Headlines Section.  The focus of these news stories is the European Union policies against Israel.  Martin S in Jerusalem also offers insight on these issues, as well as Barry Segal.  Please open the Weekly Summary to understand the news from the informed spiritual point of view!

Lura Beckford gives a great report of how the LORD made a way where there didn’t seem to be a way once the ultra-Orthodox pressured their landlord into turning them out prematurely.  Now they are moving into a new place, a better place – a place that is especially designed for children and lots of fellowship …plus a fantastic landlord too.  It is exciting to see what God is doing for the Beckfords in this situation.  Let it give you hope, all you who have been walking in hard places for a long while. Let their story be an encouragement to you.  Inside the Weekly Summary.

We also received this special prayer request from Avi and Chaya Mizrachi, of the Adonai Roi congregation in Tel Aviv.  They are taking a team from the congregation to Switzerland by invitation from a European Youth Conference.  They ask for intercessions to be made because “While some of the leaders have an understanding of Israel, the majority does not and may even teach Replacement Theology. We are treading into unknown waters and really need the Lord to bring His breakthrough.”

With all the historic resistance in Europe to Israel, every time Israeli Messianics go into European nations it is a spiritual ambassadorial work of breakthrough in progress.  Let’s uphold this team as they walk in unknown places.

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:

·        Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

·        Please continue to intercede for Katya Morrison at Tents of Mercy. She has the good report of no leukemia in her latest extensive testing, and other good news – like the ability to participate in the annual Tents of Mercy kid’s camp this year.  Prayers for her full recovery and victory over this disease is still needed.

·        Tom Bender in the Galilee is believing for victory over cancer in Carmel.  Pray he will continue to prevail in his battle and continue to soar in his spirit.

·        Elise Glasser-Levine of Ahavat Yeshua suffering from mysterious and debilitating leg pain for over a year.

·        Pray for Kay Wilson still suffering from PTSD after surviving a stabbing terrorism attack that her friend did not survive.

·        Keep Baby Netaley’s full recovery in your prayers.

·        Harvest of Asher asks for continued prayer for Elena’s full recovery and for minimal side effects as she goes through the chemo and radiation treatments; also grace with the bureaucratic and legal process for receipt of benefits from her employer. They also ask prayer for M. who had surgery not long ago and his system is going through many changes causing the need for various health issues to be addressed on a continuing basis. Please keep him in your prayers.

·        Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the bomb blast – and that he would win the appeal for government recognition that he is a terror victim.  It would mean benefits for the continuing surgeries and legal expenses.

I just noticed that this is the 213th upload of Arrows from Zion on this blog.
7-17-2012
Of course, the number of weekly issues of the Israelprayer Summary I've prepared over the past 12 years is more iv the neighborhood of 600 issues.  In fact, it was just about this time twelve years ago in 2001 - just a couple of weeks before 9/11 - that I launched the Israelprayer Summary with the first issue.  It has been a 12-year labor of love towards the fantastic Israeli brothers and sisters in Messiah who are laying down their own lives to the purposes of God in proclaiming the Name of Yeshua.

"All Israel shall be saved" says the Word of God and these faithful servants are the ones who have accepted the mandate to be the ones to stand for God's full purposes for Israel.
God bless them one and all.

Arrows from Zion
Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Recently someone voiced the opinion that an Israeli ministry should not be wearing a Jews for Jesus T-shirt because it was too provoking to religious Jews.  Hearkening back to the 70’s and 80’s in Jerusalem this person said in those days when there were only a few hundred believers in Israel at most, “it was unheard of to be an offense to the religious in any way because not to raise any persecution.”  The views among Israeli believers has changed as the Messianic community there has grown into its own sense of belonging in the mix, which is why I was happy to hear this report from Howard Bass:

Some of you know about the riot which took place against our congregation on Dec 24, 2005, and the ensuing court case we made against the Chief Rabbi of Beer Sheva and of the anti-missionary organization, Yad LeAchim (read reports here).  A couple of weeks ago, a pastor in another city came up to me to thank me, and the Ortiz family, for publicizing and taking on Yad LeAchim in court, because he says that since then the organization has seemingly retreated from being so openly aggressive against the believers and congregations around the country.  The reason I bring this up is because this same pastor was not in favor of our going to court in the first place!  We know that God has His reasons for things that we do not always understand -- either the process or the consequences.  But our responsibility, in so far as we know and understand from Him and His Word, is to obey with faith.

Pray that as the Israeli Body of Messiah to continues to ‘grow up’ in Israel, that each will be open and flexible to the stages of maturity they are passing through as a Body in Israel – giving room for changes to take place as Yeshua brings them out from being God’s best kept secret in Israel to His lights shining upon a hill.

Pray especially for the emerging young adults of the Israeli Messianic community – that they will find their God-ordained places in Israeli society. Some will go to ministry, but many will go into careers where God will use them mightily to impact Israel – living stones in every segment of Israeli society.

Pray also for the many summer children’s camps and teen camps, the youth and young adult conferences that will bring together Jew and Christian Arab.  Pray that all these young people will hear the the voice of the Lord and obey with joy. These are key body-building get togethers for young believers who go most of their school year without contact with believers their age.  Pray for the prodigals who have wandered away, that they will return to house of the LORD and to an unshakable faith.  Ruth Nessim asks prayers for prodigal parents and grandparents to return to the LORD!  Prodigals: return to your senses in the name of Yeshua!

The recent MJAA conference was held and Ron Cantor of Moaz Ministries and Messiah’s Mandate gives a beautiful account of recognizing how even for the U.S., “
There is a special anointing on Israeli evangelists and worship teams when they go forth from Zion equipped with the message of Yeshua.“  Please read his report inside the Weekly Summary, and you can even listen to their podcast which was recorded with a live MJAA audience.  Listen here.

Carolyn Hyde gives a short report on how they are witnessing in Tiberius and now on tour in the U.S. inside the Weekly Summary.  Summer is a time when many Israeli ministries hit the road to attend conference and do speaking engagements and ministry in the nations.  Pray for each of them to have fruitful tours, and for the LORD to watch over their families at home, and for many, their congregations.

Leon Mazin of the Haifa Return to Zion Center brings an opportunity to give toward 50 new families the Haifa social services has asked them to supply food for.  They have stepped out in faith and said ‘Yes!’ Will you also say ‘Yes” to help them?  Read inside how $25-30/ 20-25 Euros can make a difference in the name of Yeshua.

The Beckford’s saga with their Arad landlord has taken a sudden good turn: Lura has signed for a new house in Arad with a landlord who is day-&-night different from the old landlord, and she is packing up with a little help from her friends while Eddie is still in the U.S.  Lura sound positively joyful about this move and believes the new house will be even better for the Hebrew and Russian congregations who have been using their home to hold worship services and other times of fellowship.  Pray for the believers in Arad – truly they are pitching in to help each other through years of persecution and harassment for their faith.  This is a community hanging together for the good name of the LORD.  See Lura’s report on other issues they face inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Ruth Nessim, mother of Debbie Figeuras in Arad, is a stalwart believer in Nahariya whose home is continually receiving guests who come to hear this dear lady’s witness.  She receives everyone – Christian Arab, Jew; young and old.  Pray for her and the CJF congregation in far northern Israel just next to the Lebanon border.  Read her testimonies inside the Weekly Summary – it is who we are every day that draws people to His light.  Ruth leaves for her  U.K. tour at the end of July.

In the Samarian Hills, Charlotte and Uzi Lotan continue to host may guests from around the world at their House of Praise and serving in their congregation in Kfar Saba. They report on a highlight during Junes when they attended a conference near the Dead Sea that was attended by Palestinian Christians and Messianic Jewish pastors and leaders.  Afterwards, the Lotans hosted a men’s breakfast for the pastors at Beit Hallel – some of the Palestinian Christian Pastors may have entered one of the Muslim villages around about us, but they probably have never visited a Jewish Settlement in Samaria.  These are important inroads.

The Sorko-Ram’s of Maoz ministries invites those who would like to provide funds for some of the teens who will be attending the Katzir/Harvest youth camp.  You can see inside the attached Weekly Summary how it breaks out for the cost of sponsoring one teen, or one day, or even five teens for the duration.

Al Hayat Television is broadcasting a short video program into Egypt by Asher Intrater (in Hebrew with Arabic sub titles.  Pray for this message to encourage the believers in Egypt and touch many hearts among the unbelievers.  The current chaos in Egypt is a great opportunity for faith to blossom in the Egyptian people.  They’ve seen ugly religion; they’ve seen despotic dictators; now speak to Egypt that they will see Yeshua – high and lifted up as a banner of love and shalom over Egyptian hearts.

The offices of Revive Israel were broken into by robbers last week, and they have been threatened with a lawsuit, and a new rabbinic religious group has started a new campaign against them and other Messianic Jews.   Many are struggling right now under the weight of multiple challenges and threats. As Lura Beckford wrote, this is the time we must pray for each other!

She also wrote:  “Our donations have been cut in half in the past two years and the dollar has gone down in relation to the shekel.  Some of our supporters have lost their jobs.  Most people are having a difficult time financially.  But believers are the ONLY people in the world who can pray in the finances for others when they are penniless themselves.  (Ain’t it the truth!)

Many of us are like Moses at the Red Sea – the enemy bearing down on us from behind and no place to go but into the water with hands lifted up in faith.  This is the time to call out to the LORD for mighty miracles – even parting the waters so we may cross over on dry land.  This is that day.

The Jerusalem Institute of Justice reported on their Lone Soldier project during Passover where soldiers without families and communities can be with “adopted family” over the holidays.  JIJ writes that many of the young men and women soldiers have been ex-communicated from their own ultra-orthodox families because they have chosen to serve.  “They expressed deep gratitude for your generous gifts” that provided for their Passover Seder among friends.  JIJ also offers many other opportunities for these soldiers for fellowship, R&R and even a “life skills” course.  You can read more inside the attached Weekly Summary and find out how you can be a part of doing something greater than just sending the troops a pizza.

Daniel Decker, who organizes Christian tours for Jerusalem Eternal Tours, brings a good word called “A Jewish Heart” inside the Weekly Summary.  If you are planning a tour in Israel, you can contact Daniel whose family are all well known among the believing community in Israel.  See inside the attached Weekly Summary for Daniel’s contact information.

Last but not least, Mazal Tov to Joel and Teresa Jelski who were just married.  Pray for this young couple as they continue to walk out the Lord’s greatest designs for their lives together in Messiah.

Praying the Headlines

Egypt By Abu Ali
for Revive Israel Ministries
This week in Tahrir Square in Cairo, a Muslim singer and a Christian singer sang before a crowd of approximately 250,000 people.  The moderate Muslims are reaching out for better relations with the Egyptian Christians.

Testimony

This is an excerpt from Part 2 of David Ortiz’ testimony of the recent surgical complications he went through.  You can find the link to the whole testimony at the end of this article, but I really wanted to share this intense spiritual understanding that God gave David during his traumatic health scare:

David:  I was in the ICU for two days, and most of the time I didn't sleep . . . .While in bed, I was thinking about several visitors who had visited us in the months before the operations who had made negative comments against organizations or individuals that are engaged in direct evangelism to the Jewish people in Israel. They were saying that they refused to associate themselves with such people because it upsets the Jewish community and the way they felt it should be done is without mentioning the cross, (Gal. 6:12; 1Cor. 1:17) They said that reaching out to the Jewish people should be done only through charity, nursing homes, and different projects showing the love of God. They said our purpose shouldn't be to win them over to belief in Yeshua, that God would take care of that because the Jewish people have a special covenant.

I was slightly dumbfounded by those statements, because how could they have a covenant without the fulfillment of the New Covenant? How could they live with the shadows and not the substance? How could they have Moses without Yeshua? (John 5:46; Hebrews 10:1-25; Hebrews 8:5-13; Col. 2:16-17). David Wilkerson once called this a Christ-less Pentecost. He said we were heading towards a Gospel experience , where everything looks OK, the songs, the verses, and the preaching, but without the message of the cross. (2 Cor. 11:3-15) Pastor Cymbala from the Brooklyn Tabernacle said, when talking about the Samaritans and the Israelites who had fallen away into idol worship, that they invoked the name of the true God of Israel, but it was the false worship of the True God (2Kings 17:29-41)

I began to think about the military, and how it is made up of different units, Navy, Air Force, Infantry (ground troops), Intelligence and many more. The Navy can shoot their most sophisticated smart missiles to soften the ground from a relatively safe distance and not even feel the impact of the war. Everyone can be serving on the ship and when their tour of duty is finished, go home. The Air Force sometimes can feel a greater impact of what is taking place on the ground, but still at a relatively safe distance. They also prepare and soften the ground and remove imminent threats but with all the units and with all their technology they can never replace the soldiers whose boots are on the ground. The war can never be won without the ground troops. Once the units in God's army stop working together and begin to criticize and compete against one another, the Good News of the Messiah will never make an inroad into Israeli society. They will never know that Messiah has come and that He has brought a better covenant that has ripped the veil in two, that all might enter.

On a personal note

I’m very thankful to note that my sister has begun her long process of healing and we have settled some of the major things that we had to pull together to take care of her here.  It has been quite taxing to do the day and night care, while trying to keep up with this prayer list. Appreciate prayers for God’s grace – and for God to continue His work of healing in my sis in every way.  Her first doctor’s appointment is tomorrow (July 18) and though we have had some concerns about blood clots forming in her foot, we are praying for God to return any clots to fluid blood and to help us to do the things we need to do to keep any from forming. Appreciate your prayers for us!  Like many ministries at this time, donations for this ministry would be gratefully received.
