Priority Prayer Focus Dec 23, 2015

Our prayer focus this week is simple, that the great Light that has shined into our hearts by the coming of Yeshua, that it would touch lives in your families and in the families of all the nations this week.  In these stressful times of growing darkness, we pause again, stilling ourselves before the LORD with great thankfulness for sending His Son, who put on human flesh and dwelt among us.  It is all about You, Yeshua.

Honoring David H. Stern

Before getting underway of the weekly prayer requests from Israeli Ministries, I would like to join with the spirit of this article shared by KehilaNews.com and written by Boaz Michael of First Fruits of Zion, in honoring a Messianic Jewish Pioneer, David H. Stern.

As Boaz writes, "I am not sure if there is any Messianic Jewish person or organization today that has not in some way, whether they realize it or not, been affected by his work, his vision, and his life."

David Stern, who just turned 80 in October, is truly one of the most influential people of the modern Messianic movement.  He is also the first Messianic Jew I ever met face to face when I was first coming into the movement.  Boaz Michael honors David in this article, Another Lesson From David H. Stern: A Messianic Jewish Pioneer | Having a dream and working toward it.  Honor to whom honor is due.

David has just donated his treasured collection of thousands of book to the Jerusalem learning center of First Fruits of Zion, The Bram Center for Messianic Jewish Learning in Jerusalem

We also shared a great Facebook post we saw this week from Revive Israel as they gathered to pray over Joseph Magan, the founder of KehilaNews.com (and son-in-law of Howard Bass, who leads the Beer Sheva congregation, Yeshua's Inheritance).  We believe Joseph is doing a superb ministry for the ministries of Israel and for believers in the nations who want to connect more to them.  Lots of great teachings, videos and its online or in your email!  Pray for this ministry to be blessed by God through the people of God.

Martin Sarvis, our stalwart and anointed brother who shares great insights on events from Jerusalem takes us this week into the little town of Bethlehem and the House of Bread so we can have greater context as we gather to observe the birth of Yeshua.  We love the picture Martin sent along of a hill just north of Bethlehem where very likely the shepherds were watching over their flocks when they beheld a great sight.  These events really did take place and the hills they took place on are still visible today.

Is Christmas Kosher?  Ron Cantor has a series "7 Thoughts about Christmas from a Messianic Jew"  Ron is a great communicator and we think you will be blessed by reading these blog posts from Ron.

Asher Intrater also has a timely video teaching, The Chanukah-Christmas Connection.  Also in the Revive Israel ministry letter this week is Cody Archer's report on Ariel, Tal, Jeremiah, and I just returned from our 12 day trip through East Asia: Healing in East Asia.  And a report on their Muslim Outreach Seminar held last week in Israel. Read about it inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

There is rare news from the Peniel Fellowship in Tiberias this week, led by Daniel and Shirya Yahav, who catch us up on all the great things that happened in their congregation during 2015 - from spiritual births to the physical births and all the events of life in between.  This is a wonderful time of year to just look back and marvel at all the things the Lord has done.

There is also the fascinating recounting of how the annual gathering in the forest of Messianic and Arab believers began 30 years ago.  I do hope you will read this inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary. When I had the honor to attend this gathering in 2003, I could not get over the feeling that it was a historic event, and now that I read how it began three decades ago, I feel it even more.  As the prophet said through Zechariah, "Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin."  The seed that was planted here has grown from 100 people participating in the first gathering and now thirty years later 1000, gathered together in what the Yahav's call "one of the best meetings we have ever had."  And we have not seen the end of this, for God is doing a mighty work with this small seed planted long ago.

Please read the entire account inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary and also the prayer requests that are made on behalf of the pastors - Arab and Jew who are mentioned here.  You will also find prayer requests for several other aspects of the Peniel congregation ministry, including on-going prayer for their need of a new building to house their congregation. This may well be the largest congregation in Israel, and it is sorely in need of more space.

Richard and Carolyn Hyde of Heart of God Ministries are also taking a look back at the great things God has done through their ministry in 2015, including their ministry in German public schools where even Muslim students came to faith, and in Paris where they urged, as always, Jews to make aliyah - to come home to Israel.  You know Carolyn is a wonderful worshipper and has many music CDs that usher listeners into the Presence of God.  Her husband and son are also authors of outreach materials specifically to touch Israelis, and their son also is involved the greatly effective Medabrim social media outreach in Israel.  Find out more about their ministry - including the Living Stone Experience for when you make your visit to the Land - inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

In Arad the Hasdey Yeshua (Mercy of Yeshua) congregation relates the story of a Bedouin who has come to faith in Yeshua, and who has suffered the persecution of his tribe. Mocking and anger at his new faith escalated into violence that sent him to the ER. Now he has had to leave his home and is living temporarily with some from the Hebrew congregation.  They write, "The separation is a painful one.  Please pray for "Hussain’s" physical and emotional healing and for the salvation of his extended family and of the other Bedouin whose villages surround Arad."

Other news from Arad is their approach to bar mitzvah "We try very hard to focus on the boy and his relationship with the Lord, not on the party."  They write about a recent bar mitzvah of a boy whose father passed away five years ago and how Yo-Yakim Figueras stepped in to prepare him for his bar mitzvah.  There are also links to Debbie Figueras's new music project (actually the links are to a live concert and not her recording which will soon be finished). See inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

From the Yeshua Israel ministry of Kobi and Shani Ferguson, an article by Shani about Worship Music in Israel today: When the Levites Return to Their Posts

A heart overflowing with gratefulness for your prayers from Dov Bikas of the Aviv Ministry (drug addicts and sex trade outreach) with this great praise report on a woman they have been working with, and asked for prayer in the past weeks.  The news is so encouraging and Dov wanted you to know how valued your prayers really are.  Read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Last, but not least, we have the ministry report of Pastor Najeeb and Elisabeth Atteih, Arab pastors in Haifa who also have a book store which they minister to 'whosoever will' - Arab, Jewish, internationals. The book shop has some needs and also some great testimonies which you can read inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.  There is also a good report of the ministry they have engaged in Jordan to help serve the Christian Refugees from Syria and Iraq.  There are stories of heartbreak, but also of heart healing by Yeshua.  Please read this report in the Weekly Summary.

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue
Please keep in prayer the Israeli ministry leaders and believers with urgent health needs including the fight for their very lives:

Please continue to pray for David Davis (see his diagnosis update inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary); Also pray for an unnamed forefather of Messianic Judaism; Dr Jurgen Buhler; Ruth Nessim; Eddie Santoro;  Evan Levine; Rachel Slater; Judy, wife of pastor Yaakov K; Moshe Morrison;  Shelly wife of pastor Eitan; Claude Ezagouri; Patti, wife of Dan Juster; Baruch and Karen Maayan; Marike Veldman; Michael E and unnamed Israel-related ministers; Jacob Damkani.  Pray also for Ghazi, the son of an Arab pastor, who is suffering from Leukemia.

Pray for a greater release of healing anointing among the Israeli ministries to touch the people of Israel with a sign of the goodness of Yeshua.

Teaching Articles

By Howard Bass
of Nachalat Yeshua (Yeshua's Inheritance) congregation  in Beer Sheva

YHVH God has given three opportunities to celebrate a New Year. He is the God of Creation and of Redemption. We are all born in the flesh; we must be born of the Spirit to inherit eternal life. We are individuals; Israel is a nation, whom God calls His first-born son. These New Years are begun by God, and adopted by His people — whether Israeli Jews, or whether Christians.

Priority Prayer Focus Dec 16, 2015

Quoting from Francis Frangipane's article adapted from his book, The Days of His Presence,

" Yes, evil shall mature into full rebellion, but righteousness is also ripening into full Christlikeness!" (See Matt. 13:40-43; John 17:22-23).

We have entered into days where the evil of Islamic terrorism is being experience not just in Israel or the Middle East, but throughout the whole world.  At the same time, by faith we say that there is a Remnant of God throughout the world who are faithful to the high calling in Messiah, and pressing toward the mark of that high calling.

Let's pray for peace to see what the LORD is doing in the earth, and that like Hezekiah, we rebuild the walls that are broken down with our building tools in one hand and our weapons in the other.

Although we have come to the end of Hanukkah, we wanted to share the beautiful greeting from the Tents of Mercy network under Eitan Shishkoff, as they are also marking their 20th anniversary of the congregation and network.  Mazel Tov to you Ohalai Rachamim and to all your offspring!

Second is an interesting thing that caught my eye this week when an Israeli believer posted it on Facebook.  Did you know there is a full moon for the first time since 1977 on December 25th this year or that the Israeli calendars note this is "Yom ha molad" - the day of the birth?!  It intrigued me so I set about to find out more about this and you can read the interesting results inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

Also
* You may have also heard that the Pope has delivered a statement that Jews don't need to be saved which the Israeli rabbis welcomed but Messianic Jews are rebutting.  Here is the LCJE statement by our friend Jim Melnick.  This also seems a sign of the times.

Next up is an important perspective on the news of a new head of the Israeli MOSSAD who last week acknowledged,  "Without Heavenly aid, Israel would not have been established."  We felt this was an important perspective to note because it underscores the connection so well between spiritual warfare and the corresponding actions on the ground. There is a tendency in Christian circles to embrace the spiritual warfare while spurning the idea that there is a definitive connection in a nation's normal natural processes of government, law enforcement, intel and war.  Read Martin's perspective inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Arni Klien of Emmaus Way writes about the supernatural (demonic) element that is fueling the current attacks in Israel by even children hoping to die as martyrs.  As he notes, "Western culture does not have a box to put this in.  What we are facing is beyond anything we have ever encountered to date. . . . How do you reach someone that loves death more than life?  This perspective is not just surfacing now, but so many in the West refused or were incapable of accepting the fact that they actually believed what they were saying.  It is notable that their attitude is so close to that of the overcomers in  Revelation 12:11:  “And they overcame him (the evil one) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.”  Though the words may sound quite similar, they are of course worlds apart.  Those of Revelation 12 are laying down their lives for righteousness, truth, and love for God and His glory.  While the one gives his life out of hatred and despondency, the other is motivated by love and thankfulness."

The Kleins, who host times of worship and prayer from the nations at their home in the Galilee, have had the unexpected blessing of the opportunity to take up a rental contract from the ministry of the Endtimes Handmaidens house in their village.  You can learn more how this will enlarge their ministry and how you can be a part of making that happen inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.  You can also read about the other activities of Arni and Yonit inside.

Ruth Nessim from the Nahariya congregation writes with an update about her biological and chemo treatments which "were not pleasant" leaving her with chest pains and stomach ache for several days. She has also suffered a broken computer, so was only able to send a short update composed on her iPad. . .but she is upbeat as ever in her busy month of ministry despite the medical treatments.  Please keep Ruth in prayer - she is a wonderful saint of God with real devotion to Him.  Read also her short report on Pastor Najeeb's Christian Soldiers' home which is taking shape - inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

Evan Thomas of the Beit Asaph congregation in Netanya also writes about the wave of terror attacks writing, "Israel continues to bleed as the stabbings continue almost daily. One of our senior co-workers was travelling in the inner city in Jerusalem on Monday and noticed two Moslem teenage girls board the train. They disembarked at the city center and moments later, one was shot dead and the other critically wounded by armed security after they had stabbed an elderly man. The girls were aged 14 and 16. It turned out that their victim was an elderly Palestinian from Bethlehem that they had mistaken for a Jew!

"This spiral of violence is heart-rending especially in light of the horrendous attacks in the Sinai, Lebanon and Paris and the revenge being meted out in Syria and Iraq by coalition air-raids. In the midst of all this we watch the misery of the tens of thousands of Moslem refugees pouring out of our region into Western Europe while tension and fear rises among the recipient nations. The darkness is increasing yes! But so too is the light! We can bow to the fear or choose to rejoice whatever the circumstances and see these as opportunities for the Gospel. This is what we are teaching our community as we strive together. Pray with us to be bold and intentional for the sake of the Kingdom!"  Read all about what is going on in the Netanya congregation inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

From Revive Israel we have a Video Recap of Youval and Malek's ministry trip to Toulouse France Recap and Cody Archer's teaching on the vision of the coming kingdom that will motivate you to pray for the peace of Jerusalem Praying for the Peace of Jerusalem  | AUDIO

Asher's Revive Israel also shares about the opening of the New Messianic Dental Clinic in Jerusalem and a Muslim Outreach Seminar they are hosting this week for about 50 Jewish and Arab leaders in Israel - a day of prayer, fellowship and teaching on how to reach the Muslim world with the gospel.  Please pray for this, and to learn more see inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

Ronit Bender, who is a member in the HaCarmel congregation, has just come from a time of ministry and speaking in the U.S., as well as visiting with her son and his family in Canada.  Along the way, Ronit had Divine appointments with Arabs, one of whom she was able to lead to the LORD in their time together.  Back in Israel until January when she travels to Perth, Ronit is back to ministry with the House of Victory outreach to reach "the dying and the destitute" in Tel Aviv.  Read more of Ronit's prayer letter inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

Evan Levine, a worship leader in the Ahavat Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem, is also the director of the HaTikva Project with Promise Keepers Coach Bill McCartney & Dr. Raleigh Washington.  This is a beautiful picture of how Christians in the nations can come together with the Body in Israel to produce ministries that really work to advance the kingdom in Israel.  Many Christians partner with projects in Israel with partners from the Israeli government or traditional religious groups - you've heard of Good, Better & Best?  Well the Best is to partner with Israeli believers!

One of the great visions that the HaTikva Project has been able to bring to fruition is their new Messianic Dental Clinic which will offer discounted dental to the Body in Israel, but also as an outreach to the greater community.  Evan writes, "The dental clinic is opening so many doors for evangelism. We have been partnering with a ministry that re-habilitates drug addicts, many of whom accept the Lord, to treat those they minister to. Through another partnership with two Messianic ministries, I was recently invited to speak to a group of 35 Holocaust survivors and invite them to our clinic for care. We are also one of two officially recommended clinics for the Ministry of Welfare in the city we live in! All of these partnerships are in place without us compromising the witness of the Gospel or hiding the fact that we are Messianic believers. I’m amazed by this as well."  Read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Teaching Articles & Praying the Headlines

This week the Teaching Article & Praying the Headlines are perfectly combined in this short piece by Asher Intrater that brings the difficult questions about Islamic terrorism to their simplest essence:

ISIS, Israel, & Islam  |  Many try to define the recent wave of terror attacks “not Islam.” That would demand classifying the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, Shabab, Boko Haram, Al Qaida, Taliban, ISIS and the Ayatollahs as “not Islam.” Almost all the terror attacks have been accompanied by shouts of “Allah Akhbar.”   [See also the VIDEO Isis, Islam & Israel ]

One could say that there is a difference between “moderate” Islam and “extremist” Islam. That is a legitimate discussion. There are certainly different streams within Christianity and Judaism. Some would say that moderate Islam is the “real” Islam with the extremists as a perversion; others would say just the opposite, that the extremists are the “real” Islam with the moderates a watered-down version.

Radicalization  |  In any case, a moderate Muslim community is necessary in most situations in order for the extremist elements to take root. The pattern is normally:
Moderate Islamic community, then
Extremist Islamic indoctrination, then
Terrorist attacks.

Terrorism must be preceded by extremist indoctrination; extremist indoctrination must be preceded by a moderate community.
Some moderate Muslims fiercely oppose Islamic radicalism. Let’s call them: Adversaries.
Some moderate Muslims openly favor Islamic radicalism: Let’s call them Advocates.
Many moderates are being used and abused by Islamic radicalism: Let’s call them Victims.

All three types of moderates, Adversaries, Advocates and Victims, whether they mean to or not, will end up being manipulated by the radicals; unless strong educational, legal and security measures are taken.

Priority Prayer Focus Dec 9, 2015

A few days ago I had opportunity to re-discover this short teaching from Asher Intrater of Revive Israel.

Asher's observation from Oil and Oil Press, in a nutshell:
There is a dynamic relationship between the oil and the press. They are opposites that balance out one another. . . .The oil certainly seems more attractive than the oil press. Yet there is no oil without the press. The oil is produced at the oil press. There is no other way to produce true oil. On the other hand, the purpose of the press is to obtain the oil. To suffer in obedience without obtaining that oil is not according to the heart of God. The press is for the oil. The oil comes from the press.

In relation to the serious health afflictions of the Israel ministries right now, I do believe the Oil and Oil Press has application - I do foresee major healing anointing breaking through among Israeli ministries as these saints continue to battle in faith for their own health situations.  We are to continue to join with them in their battle, for the release of healing and gifts of healing among them.

Unfortunately we begin this week with the news that another Israeli Ministry leader has been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.  David Davis of the HaCarmel congregation writes,  "In recent months a number of leaders in the Lord’s body here in Israel have been under siege, battling serious life-threatening illnesses. Now I have joined the ranks, as two weeks ago I was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. When I shared this news with our congregational family in my recent Shabbat message, “A Sacrifice of Faith,” we then began to worship the Lord and pray for all those in need of healing, and the Holy Spirit released upon us a fresh outpouring of faith and the joy of the Lord.

Read Davis' exhortation on praying in times of affliction inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary
Also read about their 10-day and 8-week programs for worshipping musicians and singers. They are accepting applications to our new Ascend Carmel Worship Programs now.

In Asher Intrater's Moving What Mountain? he acknowledges the universal spiritual principle in Mark 11:23-24, but brings to the forefront the principle meaning Yeshua has as He uttered those words in Jerusalem near to the Temple "mount".  What did Jesus mean when He said "Whoever says to this mountain, 'Be removed and cast into the sea' .... Yeshua’s statement about the mountain is likely a reference to Zechariah 4:6 – Who are you Great Mountain?.... Isaiah 2:2-4 also refers to the kingdom of God as a mountain. Daniel 2:34-35, 44 refer to the great statue of the Antichrist kingdoms being destroyed in the end times by a supernatural rock that then turns into the mountain of the kingdom of God. Revelation 11:15 states that the last mystery of the plan of God is for the kingdoms of this world to become the kingdom of our Lord.  Is Yeshua pointing the way to the ultimate meaning of mountain-moving faith - to remove all obstacles to the restoring of the kingdom of God in Jerusalem? Read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

The Revive Israel prayer letter also takes up the self-martyrdom of two young Arab-Israeli girls - what can cause them to do such a thing?  "Classic Palestinian terrorism started in the 1970's in order to gain attention to the PLO political agenda.  The efforts of ISIS have gone much beyond terror and are more properly termed "Jihad" - their goal is to impose an Islamic State all over the world.  It is more apocalyptic than political.  These two girls actions were neither terror nor Jihad; they didn't advance any real agenda.  They had only one goal: to go to "heaven." ....Their motive was to be a Shaheed – martyr.  Thankfully, some of the parents and relatives in the Arab Israeli community are starting to come out and protest against the education and peer pressure that is causing such sick behavior. " Please pray for many more Arabs to begin to reject what is happening among them.

Revive also shares an update of their ministry team members in Asia (Watch video report) and France, as well as part 2 of Asher's video teaching Bread and wine inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Ron and Elana Cantor of Messiah's Mandate/Tiferet Yeshua send this video Hannukah greeting
Israel Pochtar shares a report on their evangelistic outreach in Tel Aviv with Sid Roth Ministries which was attended by 1,000 non-believing people!  As the altar call was given, Pochtar reports that almost 800 people stood to receive Yeshua as their Lord and Savior. "Many of these people communicated their desire to receive a Bible, and to walk a path with us in fellowship, to participate in discipleship training such as the Alpha Course, and to receive humanitarian aid. . . . Please keep these new-born believers in your prayers! "

Avi Mizrachi of the Dugit Coffeehouse ministry writes about their annual Haifa outreach during the month of December with Arabic pastor Edward Tannous as they share the gospel during this strategic time.  "Together, we welcome the multitudes with a free cup of coffee and a big smile.  Every one of us is dressed in a white shirt inscribed with the words, "There is Hope" in both Hebrew and Arabic.  Our message is that there is Hope in the Messiah Yeshua!"  Inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary you will find their prayer points for the outreach, also their final push on the Adonai Roi congregational facility purchase. They've already raised $900,000 and still need $300,000 to purchase.

New father, Joel Jelski files his report on travel in November to Irbil for ministry:  "We got share with them our hearts, and again, we had major favor and miracles in order to get in. Never imagined I would be sharing my faith with government people in a middle eastern country outside Israel."  They also traveled to Cyprus with four Israeli youth and the Succat Hallel staff to "take part in a Middle East Houses of Prayer conference. The conference was a great time of reconnecting with others from this region, developing some new vision and plans for future cooperation across borders." Read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary.

The Kehila News Israel mailing brings this article of interest from Jerusalem Institute of Justice attorney Michael Decker: "Investors Visa Arrangement in Israel".  If you are interested in starting a business in Israel, start here.

Harvest of Asher congregational leader Guy Cohen writes about the realities of ending the conflict between Jewish and Arab peoples in his article One in Yeshua.

Howard Bass of the Yeshua's Inheritance congregation in Beer Sheva starts off writing about the controversies that exist on the letter to the Galatians and also on when Yeshua was born.  (This isn't one of those knock-down-drag-out conversations, so you will probably enjoy reading Howard's take inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary .)

Bass asks for prayer agreement on:
--for us to worship the Father in Spirit and Truth
--for the men (and the women) of Yeshua's Inheritance to form Holy Spirit relationships in the bonds of peace and love
--for our son, Tal, who suffered an eye injury a couple of weeks ago, which is improving, but we pray for no permanent visual damage.

Dov and Olga Bikas, also of a Beer Sheva ministry, Desert Flowers Congregation and the Tel Aviv outreach to addicts and those trapped in the sex industry, send their year end review.  "We praise the Lord for the growing attendance of Aviv outreach Center. Dozens of addicts, prostitutes and the homeless visit it every day, 6 days a week. Out of this number, 7 to 10 street people willingly enter Israeli Christian rehabs (ours or those of our partners) each month."  The men's rehab in Beer Sheva is running at full capacity these days with seven live-ins and all on advanced stages of rehabilitation.  "We see, therefore, that the need in outreach activities for drug addicts and for Christian rehab centers remains quite urgent. In the coming year we want to keep working, expanding our activities and facilities as much as possible to meet this need. We want to make our centers more and more effective – and also open new ones, God willing, if we have enough resources."

From their Beer Sheva congregation ministry to Russian immigrants, Bikas writes, "Warmest Christmas greetings to you from our church! We praise the Lord that it keeps growing and that a young leader has arrived this year with his wife and small kids from abroad to help us care for the flock. He is still in Jerusalem, preparing for the ministry, and will move to Beer-Sheva in the middle of 2016, God willing."

Finally Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem writes about the potential spiritual ramifications of the discovery announced last week of "The Signet of a Godly King" - the personal seal of the Biblical King of Judah Hezekiah.  Martin always brings a set of spiritual eyes on the news of the day, including this great discovery unearthed six years ago by archaeologists working in an area separating the Temple Mount from the ancient City of David.

Sarvis writes, "We would recommend examining the life of this great king (II Kings 18:1-20:23; Isaiah 36:2-39:8; II Chronicles 28:27-32:33) and asking the Holy Spirit to show us ways in which it may guide us in praying for our present land and leaders. Praying the Headlines

We so appreciated this Facebook Hannukah greeting from Miriam Abramov, who along with her husband Shlomy, minister in the Rishon LeZion area of Israel.  In honor of the victim of the San Bernadino terror attack, Nicholas Talasinos, a gentile who identified as Messianic and served as a shamash (deacon) in the San Bernadino area Shiloh Messianic congregation.

Miriam Abramav wrote: Nick's candle lit for him in Israel tonight. The slain messianic Jew victim in San Bernardino. Killer told him he'd never make it Israel two weeks ago. He made it. All the way to our hearts here in Israel.

Nick also made it into the hearts of many Jews in America. I saw numerous mentions of Nick as a "Messianic Jew" with no qualifiers discounting the faith - the most eye-catching of these came from terrorist experts and political pundits who are Jews themselves.  The silver lining in the death of this saint of God is that it openly broke up a new level of acknowledgement of the legitimacy of the Messianic faith in the United States, and I would imagine in Israel too.  Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15

Within the Messianic community in Israel, some are skeptical as to the authenticity of the miracle story, others assume it to be true.

Chanukah and Santa Claus – Restoring truth to the Festival of Light  |  Today very few adults believe in Santa Claus, though a significant amount do believe in the virgin birth of Israel’s Messiah Yeshua. At this holiday season childhood legends of men in red suits and white beards come face to face with the miraculous Jewish Babe of Bethlehem. The Jewish Feast of Dedication (known as Chanukah or the Festival of Lights) also has significant legends twined around its holiday menorah – legends that might obscure the spiritual and historical roots of the holiday, and distract from its powerful message, This newsletter focuses on the real meaning of Chanukah.

WEEKLY Arrows from Zion 11/25/2015

Arrows from Zion
Serving the Body of Messiah in Israel since August 2001

& Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

For the past 14 1/2 years of weekly publishing these prayer requests from Israel I have endeavored to keep requests for donations to an absolute minimum. At times when I have made requests in crisis, I am so grateful for those who have responded with donations.  Today there is not a crisis but there is a real need for financial support at this time.  If you are grateful for this ministry and can afford to make a donation at this time, I would be thankful to receive it.

Priority Prayer Focus Nov 25, 2015

Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; And to You the vow shall be performed. O You who hear prayer, To You all flesh will come. . . .By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of the far-off seas; Who established the mountains by His strength, Being clothed with power; You who still the noise of the seas, The noise of their waves, And the tumult of the peoples. Psalm 65:1-2, 5-7

Happy Thanksgiving to all our fellow North Americans.

This week we begin our Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries with the report of a dear lady, Ruth Nessim, who lives in the far north of Israel near the Lebanon border.  Ruth's report this month is brimming with accounts of her one-on-one ministry to Arabs and Muslims that God puts in her path. She is like so many of the Israeli ministries we report on here who have a heart not just for their fellow Jewish countrymen, but also a deeply felt heart for the Arabs.  Ruth's reports are always an inspiration to us as she is so open to those she meets, they respond in kind.  Truly she is loving people into the kingdom of the LORD.

One true story that Ruth opens this week is about the Muslim mayor of Nazareth. She writes, "Greetings and shalom to you all from a very troubled land, with continuing daily stabbings, shootings, firebombs and demonstrations. What has amazed us in this land is the response of so many Israeli Arabs and Moslems: The Moslem Mayor of Nazareth arrived by car at a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Nazareth, led by the head of the Israeli Arab List in the Israeli Parliament, and literally ordered him to leave Nazareth, as he was ruining co-existence in the town!"

In the nations we pretty much only hear about the 'bad news' of conflict with Arabs and Israel, but be encouraged that many Israeli ministries, like Ruth, do outreach among the Arabs including in the Syrian refugee camps, as well as supporting the underground ministries in Palestinian controlled areas like Gaza.  We don't often get to mention anything about these ministries because obviously their lives are on the line and we cannot give any details that would get them killed by fundamentalist Muslims.  Please pray for protection of Christian Arabs against the acts produced by the indoctrination of political Islamic hatred across Palestinian society.

Ruth also writes, "While we are talking about the Arab world, we have good news for you from another direction. We have been talking and praying for months about the “Home for Christian (Arab) soldiers”. After months of praying, we received two gifts which covered the remaining costs of setting up the home, paving the grounds, putting on a roof, fixing a kitchen and connecting up to water and electricity. ... So to those of you who have prayed and/ or contributed for this home which will be a refuge for Arab young people serving in the Israeli Army, a big thank you and praise the Lord with us!"

Read more from Ruth's report inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary and also her prayer requests as she begins biological and chemo treatments over the next many months for cancer of the Lymph glands.

Eddie Santoro of the Ahavat Yeshua congregation in Tel Aviv (who is also on our prayer list as he finishes up his final chemo and radiation treatments after a cancerous tumor was removed from his brain) sends us a poignant report on a terrorist attack that hit 'close to home' for his family last week. The attack occurred in the same building that his son is located in. We are hearing many stories like this from the believers in Israel, and they are not immune to becoming victims of the murderous attacks. Please keep your prayers up for all of the believers in Israel and their families - that God will keep them from harm. We know from the Second Intifada that these prayers are effective!

Eddie also comments on the "growing worldwide deception of Israel as an apartheid state. What is the truth? Israel is the only nation in the entire Middle East that allows all people groups to share in the blessings of the nation together. It is certainly not an apartheid state. . . . The worst horrors and the greatest oppression of people occur in every nation of the Middle East except Israel. Christians are being forced by persecution and terrorism to flee their homes in every other Middle East nation. . . . Prime Minister Netanyahu summed up the situation when he commented on yesterday's attacks in Israel. 'Behind these terrorist attacks stands radical Islam, which seeks to destroy us, the same radical Islam that struck in Paris and threatens all of Europe. Whoever condemned the attack in France needs to condemn the attacks in Israel. It's the same terror. Whoever does not recognize this is a hypocrite and blind."   To read more of Eddie's report see inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

From Restoration from Zion, the new ministry name of Dr. Daniel Juster, we received a wrap up of things going on in the Tikkun Ministry leaders' lives including tremendous favor in the tavels of their teams in Europe, Asia and the US.  There is a report and request for prayer for Eddie Santoro, as well as Dan's wife Patty who is recovering from a serious back surgery (and just wants to get on with her life!).

For Eitan Shishkoff, they write, "The Fields of Wheat Project. Over 1/3 of the funds needed for the purchase of the land and initial structures has been donated! Please pray for continued support for the purchase of this 14-acre property to be used for the body of Messiah in Israel. At the end of October, Eitan hosted three days of prayer and strategic planning.  The participants came from decades of experience in real estate, finance, hotel management, and corporate planning ... as well as those of us who have invested decades in Israeli Messianic pioneering. As a result, clear goals and action steps were formulated to move Fields of Wheat forward in a responsible and realistic way.  Please pray for God to provide high-level administrators to manage the project and for the logistics to be completed that will lead to a ratified contract."

For Asher Intrater, who has taken over primary leadership as the International Director for the Tikkun-related family of ministries in Israel, there are tremendous pressures on his time.  Please pray for wisdom for what God is calling him to - that all may be in God's perfect will for him in impacting the Kingdom. Pray for continuing development of a solid team of leaders, administrators, and ministers to support Asher in the work. Pray for continued physical and spiritual renewal for Asher personally and for his family.  Pray for Tikkun ministries that all the relationships in the Israeli ministries and the international body to be strengthened, spiritually healthy and knit together in bonds of mutual brotherly love.

Howard Bass of the Yeshua's Inheritance congregation sends Thanksgiving greetings to all the Americans and tells us about the tradition they started in Israel in 1999 to give international medical program students at Soroka Hospital/Ben-Gurion Univ of the Negev a little taste of 'home'.  Howard writes, "There were a number of American students far from home during that special family and national day, so we began what became a wonderful 'tradition'. Last year we missed it, being out of the country, but this year, with our friends, the Chapmans, we will rejoice with Thanksgiving at God's 'more abundant life' for those who know the Father and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. All praise and glory to Him!"

Beer Sheva has several other colleges, as Howard shares. He writes, "Israel is unique in having Jews and Arabs freely studying and preparing for life together in a way that can be extremely powerful in proclaiming the gospel as the truth for genuine peace and social acceptance. At B-GU, there are a fair number of believers, most of the Israeli ones are Arab. Yeshua's Inheritance Cong has a few Arab believers who attend occasionally, and we want all of us to know that we are all Yeshua's Inheritance together by the gospel which we have believed."  Read more from Howard's prayer letter  plus prayer requests inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary .  Kehilanews.com has a short piece from Howard about the Israeli cabinet plan to build 5 more cities in the Negev!

The Return to Zion ministry in Haifa is led by Leon Mazin and this month he is highlighting two projects they have among many - (1) their Rainbow of Sounds Music School established in 2010 "with only a few instruments and a vision to offer affordable, quality musical education to children from different backgrounds.  with only a few instruments and a vision to offer affordable, quality musical education to children from different backgrounds. . . . In 2012 we started a new program to assist children from financially challenged families that cannot afford the monthly tuition fee of $130. . . . If you would like to sponsor music lessons for a child from a financially challenged background, see details inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

The other is the Eagle Project created for Messianic congregations in Israel to serve young adults who have completed their service in the Israel Defense Forces.  This program also aims to help establish relationships and build bridges between believers in Israel and Norway."  If you don't know, it is traditional that Israeli young people travel internationally after their IDF service. The Eagle Project seeks to keep the young believers moving in a path of deeper relationship with God even as they get a taste of the world outside Israel. Dov Bikas sends a "Thank you!" for prayers made for the woman whose story they shared last week:  "Thank you very much for your care and prayers for Irena! She still has body aches and strong craving for drugs she is seriously fighting, but in general she feels much better both physically and emotionally. We do fill God is working in her heart! She has become calmer and kinder, and much more open to the Lord.  Every blessing to you all!"

The Hebrew congregation in Arad, Hasdey Yeshua (Mercy of Yeshua) is thankful for the abundant rains that have been pouring in southern Israel.  "Let’s pray that in the same way the Lord will pour out His Spirit on His people Israel and also on the other children of Abraham, the Bedouin who live all around us."  They have been making great inroads with their outreach to a local Bedouin tribe.  This is an exciting report which I am not going to give any more details in this publicly published forum, but please read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary and pray for the work of the Lord that is going on among them.

They also send a praise report on the request last month for an open house event at the Fountain of Tears.  "It was part of a city-wide festival featuring the works of many different artists.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Fountain, you can click here for a short introductory video.

"The response was overwhelming!  During the three-day open house many ordinary Aradnikim (affectionate name for people of Arad) came. There were teachers of the Holocaust who exclaimed, “We have to bring our classes here!” Others were excited to view this hidden treasure for the first time and were heard to say things like, “This (the Fountain) is OURS! It belongs here in Arad!” Members of the city government ventured in, one man in particular more than once. Also in attendance was the woman who writes a local website advising people what to do here in Arad. She posted an excellent article, which includes pictures like these: Here’s the link to the article.  For more information and prayer requests see inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Israel Pochtar of the Beit Hallel congregation and voice of Juday Israel Ministries reports on two historic events for their ministry this week: One, their biggest gospel outreach ever (details inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary) and the signing of the contract on their own congregational building purchase.  This is big news for the ministry which you should read about in the Weekly Summary so we don't give any sensitive details away here.  There are also several pointed prayer requests Pochtar would love for you to pray with them over.

One prayer request:  "We're going through very difficult times here in the Land, with very real security threats, with terrorist attacks happening here on daily basis. Please pray this even will go smooth, with God's hand over the people."

Lastly, we get the report from the Yuval Messianic Worship Center for Music and the Arts in Jerusalem, who write, " This morning, as we were writing these newsletter lines, another terror attack struck us in Jerusalem. This time it was closer than ever, on Jaffa street, just 2 minutes away from the Clal building where the "Yuval" center is located. In light of Israel's difficult reality in the last months - fear in the streets, dangers from outside and now from within, threats and increasing terror – we are overwhelmed by the real unity that is lived out in "Yuval".  Arab students learning guitar together with Jewish students; A Jewish teacher teaches an Arab student piano; Jewish and Arab mothers praying together while their daughters are in dance class; little children from both Jewish and Arab families playing Lego and Soccer together in the lobby… It is truly the Word of God coming to life according to Ephesians 2, "For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity…"

"In October, nearly 2 months ago, we opened a new year in "Yuval" in both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Over 180 students signed up, and together with 20 teachers (several new) – everyone was excited to see each other again and continue learning together! Quite a lot of the students this year are new, and a significant sum of them – from an Arab background. What a thrill to walk around "Yuval" and hear so many different languages, and know that in contrast with the tower of Babel – everyone came here to be equipped in worshiping The One true King!"  Read more about their school year ahead, and also learn how you can stand with them in both prayer and financial support, inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Light in the Midst of Darkness by Asher Intrater  | EXCERPTS  |  "There is no difference between terror against French people and terror against Jews. The victims of terror and murder are never to be blamed for the attacks–the terrorists are. Israel is not to be blamed any more than France or Russia. We grieve with compassion for all victims — whether Arabic, African, Russian, French or Israeli.

". . . .In some ways, the term “terrorist” is outdated. These are Jihadists. They are part of the apocalyptic scheme of Islamic extremism to kill Jews, Christians and all “blasphemers;” to destroy Western civilization and conquer the world."  Read more
