Priority Prayer Focus Apr 27, 2016

Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem writes, On Friday evening Jews in Israel and around the world celebrated the salvation provided their ancestors in Egypt by the blood of the lamb over their doorposts—and the miraculous deliverance from slavery which followed.  We are now making our way through the seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  Children are out of school this week, many of their parents are only working a half-day—the parks and beaches are overflowing.  Please pray protection over Israel during this holy season. 

Pray that the wind of the Holy Spirit (“wind” and “spirit” are the same word in Hebrew) will breathe on this people—awakening them to their need for salvation, and to the provision of Yeshua, the Lamb of God who carries away the sin of the world.  Pray for awakening of a hunger for “Heavenly Bread”—the “true bread from heaven” given by the Father (John 6:32-33), “He who comes down from Heaven and gives life to the world”—the One born in Bet-Lekhem—“House of Bread”—Bethlehem.  Pray that the “Word” of God would come to life as it is read each day in the Synagogues!

Passover has passed and now Israelis are enjoying a week of family time during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. This means kids are out of school, camps for the Messianic kids are in progress, and lots of outdoor activities abound.  This week we start the Israelprayer Summary with a glowing report from the Beer Sheva congregation as Howard Bass notes his wife came hope "happy Randi" after the Passover event for the congregation and the congregations in Arad.  Why all the happiness? #1 because everyone pitched in just a like a family to make this large gathering a pure joy.  Any woman who has prepared for a major family holiday dinner event knows the stress of making everything happen smoothly; that potential for stress is multiplied when it is a congregational family holiday dinner event! From the Revive Israel team this week we have a couple of video teachings from Asher Intrater What you didn't know about Passover and How to Open Heaven Pt 2.  There is a report by Cody Acther on the Revive Israel East Asia Retreat now in progress.  He writes, "Over the last few years God has placed a desire on the hearts of some key people from a number of East Asian countries to represent our vision and team among their own people. So far with their help we have been able to set up offices in Hong Kong and Korea, and more countries are on the way.  Delegates will be attending from China, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Pakistan, and of course Thailand.  Our goal is to see strong bridges of relationship and mutual blessing built between Israel and East Asia. "

From the Tents of Mercy congregation in Kiryat Yam, Eitan Shishkoff's son-in-law and fellow Tents pastor, Avi Tekel brings a report of the congregation in full-tilt of the Passover season - from the process of preparing for family sedars to humanitarian holiday food distributions. Also the teens participation in the 3-day Passover Katzir Youth gathering.

Avi writes, "One more thought...the last place we went to give baskets was the city welfare office. We delivered the bags together with my two young sons and Sasha our warehouse manager. We lingered there a bit to chat and towards the end of our visit, one of the workers mentioned an article that was written about us in the newspaper. The piece was quite negative and said that we are a "mission to convert Jews." The workers who know us well were enraged and offered to write a counter piece defending us. I tell you this because in the back of my mind this thought is nagging - wanting to take root in my heart.  So let me bring this before you that you might pray for us."

He continues: Pray that there will be a lasting impact on the young people who have now returned home from the desert camp. Pray that we will have a blessed and significant Passover season as a community. Pray for all Israel that their eyes will be opened to see the Lamb that was sacrificed to free us from sin.

We don't often get updates from Yuval, which operates out of the Clal Building in Jerusalem and is sponsored by King of Kings congregation, but we know this to be a worthy ministry - and much needed attention to the kids from believing families. Music and the arts are always high on the list of Jewish values for raising their children. This ministry is to nurture that among the children and teens. Two items we saw on Facebook today that we want to mention at the last minute are one, Congratulations to Evangelist Jacob Damkani whose film "The Messenger" about his life has won the Silver Remi Award at Documentary Drama section in the Worldfest International Film Festival in Houston a couple of days ago. Jacob writes, "Hallelujah! Praise be to the Almighty God! May this make many more people see the film and find salvation! This is what this film is made for. You may still order your copy for a reduced price.

Second is congratulations to Lura and Eddie Beckford in Arad who were blessed with a 2013 7-passenger van from Christian friends in Canada who have been blessing Israeli ministries with these vans.  What a fantastic way to help facilitate the work of the ministry in Israel. God bless those with hearts to do these things!

Ben Juster files a monthly prayer letter on behalf of the network of Israeli ministries in the Tikkun International ministry (Intrater, Shishkoff, Juster and dozens of other active ministers).  Number one on the praise report is about their Board meetings last month:  "...some of the most impacting and fruitful that we have ever had. There was a strong sense of purpose and unity, and many strategic directions that we had been praying about became more clear. The Board members were also able to pray and minister to several of the local congregational and ministry leaders. It was an intimate time of relational strengthening and sharing. Please continue to pray for the Tikkun Board, especially for wisdom and follow through for implementation of the various objectives in the coming months. Pray for continued strengthening of the vision and of our cooperative unity together in Israel."

Arni and Yonit Klien of Emmaus way write today of the final touches that are going on their Galilee House, where they are "hosting our brethren from the nations in the ten-day monthly worship gatherings, this new space is wonderfully suited for larger regular worship times open to the local brethren. " Arni writes, "Since its beginning, each of the ten-day Galilee Worship Gatherings has had a decidedly prophetic dynamic. In this last Gathering, the Spirit strongly impressed us concerning a spiritual shift set to take place on October 31, 2017. MAOZ Ministries sends this UPDATE ON EMMANUEL:  We received an update that Emmanuel, who has been recovering after a liver transplant, is battling a serious infection.  The doctors are saying it might be life-threatening.  Please continue to PRAY for him and his family.  We know this transplant was a miracle from the Lord, and we ask you to stand firm with us as we believe for his complete healing.

PA SEEKS INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR ‘RIGHT’ TO KILL ISRAELIS: The Palestinian Authority (PA) is seeking to have the international forum recognize their “right under international law” to murder Israeli civilians in all places and at all times, which they claim is established by a UN resolution. Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) reports that the PA are requesting that Palestinian “heroes and role models” who murdered Israeli civilians should receive an internationally protected right to murder Israeli civilians, that will also be recognized as a positive act that should be awarded. As a means to attain this recognition, the PA is asking the international community to award an imprisoned Palestinian terrorist with the Nobel Peace Prize. As the leader of Fatah's terror wing, Marwan Barghouti orchestrated many terror attacks in which Israelis were murdered. He was convicted in an Israeli court and is serving five life sentences for murder.

The PA claims it has the right to murder Israeli civilians according to UN resolution 3236 of 1974, which "recognizes the right of the Palestinian people to regain its rights by all means." The PA interprets "all means" to include violence and killing of civilians, while ignoring the continuation of the resolution which states that the use of "all means" should be "in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.” The UN Charter prohibits targeting civilians, even in war, and states that "international disputes" should be resolved "by peaceful means."  “May all who hate Zion be turned back in shame.” Ps 129.5

Darkness fell on Egypt, but in the land of Goshen where the children of Israel had marked their doorposts with the blood of the lamb, the death angel passed over them all.

For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and His glory will be seen upon you. Isaiah 60:2

You have probably heard about the bus bombing in Jerusalem on Monday where 21 were injured in an act of terrorism which has since been praised by both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. What you may not know is that within hours after the bombing, Vice President Biden speaking at a dovish Israel advocacy group, J Street event, sharply rebuked Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu for not making any progress in the 'peace agreement' with Palestinians.  Meanwhile at the UN in talks to end the conflict in Syria, they thought it would bring peace for Israel to give the Golan Heights back to war-torn Syria. Pure insanity of course, but you must read how Martin Sarvis puts the Golan events into context. It will help you pray over these things.  And we also ask that you being praying as this bus bombing has many Israelis on edge just before Passover which begins Friday at sundown. Many are hoping this is not an omen of an escalation of terrorism against them.

Ronit Bender in the HaCarmel congregation shares about her vision for the labor of love in Israel's harvest fields. Sometimes I think that when Christians think about the harvest fields of Israel, they envision the religious sects who are obviously Jewish, with fringes under their clothing and pais curls under their black hats. But the truth is that the harvest fields of Israel are not just religious Jews. When Yeshua walked the streets of Israel He went among all the types of people and found the most fertile ground for receiving Him among the non-religious. Things have not changed so much. In the nations, we need to catch the vision of the Israeli believers who are literally going into the byways and highways seeking those who are in need of the healing - body, soul and spirit - that only Yeshua can provide for them.  Like Ronit, this will lead them to minister to a lady lawyer one day and a homeless, drug addict the next - people who are in the same boat of spiritually perishing without understanding the Messiah has come for just such lost sheep of Israel as them.  Read more about Ronit's serving Yeshua in Israel inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Howard Bass as the Yeshua's Inheritance congregation in Beer Sheva shares a little of the getting ready for Passover they are up to - including having to reschedule a group of 30 Palestinian Christians who were slated to come down to Beer Sheva this weekend but are going to have to reschedule for another weekend...not as easy as it may sound. They all work with a childrens ministry center directed by Johnny and Marlene Shawhan, whom Bass call dear friends of theirs.  Pray that the rescheduling will be approved by the government.

Howard also sends links to several teachings connected to the Passover:  I think I have finally satisfied my intellect as to how Scripturally Yeshua was three days and three nights in the grave and Sheol/Hades, in fulfillment of the final sign that He said He would give to a wicked and adulterous generation. Also with a recommendation - The Gospel of Christ Crucified: A Theology of Suffering Before Glory, written by John P. Harrigan -  "on the historical development of the various theologies that we hold to or struggle with or are confused about today. What our theology is affects our worldview and the way we live our lives and our interpretation of Scripture. We see this among the believers in this Land up-close-and-personal.

Avi Tekel at the Tents of Mercy congregation sends us a report on a lively day of preparing holiday distribution bags for needy Israelis in their area - a sight their neighbor in the industrial district watched with great interest. This is how the witness of Yeshua goes out even when you are not really thinking about it. If you didn't know, Israelis young and old are hitchhikers - they give and get rides from strangers all the time. Of course, Israel feels like it is a nation that is like a small town - no one is really a stranger because they are all kind of family.  Over the years Carolyn Hyde has related many stories about picking up hitchhikers and the opportunities it opens to share her faith with them; this week she shares about her being the hitchhiker and how it still opens that same opportunity.  She has given away so many of her anointed Messianic music CD's away to fellow Israelis like this.  You might like sampling some of her music at her website. David Lazarus of Beit Immanuel in Jaffa writes about the new generation that is following the Messiah in Israel:  "In 1948, with the establishment of the State, there were approximately 100 Jews who believed in Jesus living in Israel. (Yediot Chadashot [Hebrew daily newspaper] 21 December 1950).  By 1967, there were about 500 Jewish believers in Jesus, including children, gathering in 10 local, Hebrew speaking, congregations (Nerel 1996).  Today, in just one generation, there are an estimated 15,000 Jewish believers in Jesus with over 200 Hebrew speaking congregations in Israel. ISRAEL’S INHERITANCE  IN THE FORMER DOMAIN OF OG | The Golan Heights is a high country rising above and northeast of the Sea of Galilee.  In ancient times, it was known as Bashan.  It was here that the young second generation of Israelis coming out of Egypt were faced with the king of Bashan, Og, who was the last of a remnant of giants known as Rephaim.  Although a physical being, Og was likely the human host of a great spiritual power of darkness which had from antiquity held the entire region under its dominance (Rephaim are elsewhere associated with inhabitants of the world of the dead (Isaiah 14:9: Prov. 21:16).  Today it is the modern Hebrew word for ghosts.).    Read more inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Eddie Santoro of Ahahat Yeshua kicks off the flow of the prayer letters we have received over the past week from Israeli Ministries and it is all about giving from what God has blessed you with.  Human beings are not naturally giving, as any mother can attest to. One of the first issues a parent must deal with is teaching their babies and toddlers to share. Spiritually that is a basic learning curve too. Even the most needy have something they can share to be a blessing, and as blessings multiply, so does our opportunity to become greater bless-ers of others.  This is a wonderful trait in the Israeli Messianic community, to see so many are continually reaching out to help others in all sorts of needs. 

Eddie Santoro shares several examples from their own personal experience over the last few months. He writes: "Many of the needs that we encounter are financial. Life in Israel is difficult. Housing is incredibly expensive, food prices are high, gasoline is beyond what a typical American can imagine and incomes tend to be low. Your generosity enables us to encourage those who are in need. . . . God promised that he would bless those who bless Israel. We know that His return in both this life and the life to come will be beyond what we can imagine or hope for. Yes! Even the Israeli Messianic ministries are included in the promise of God that He will bless those that bless Israel!)

Pray for the Israeli ministries as they touch the lives of fellow believers in need, as well as their brothers in the flesh, fellow Jews. Let us join them in pray and providing financial resources to bless their people abundantly in the name of Yeshua. To paraphrase 1 John 3:17, If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion--how can God's love be in that person?

Shlomy and Miriam Abramov of Awake Israel Ministries continues in that theme posting photos on Facebook of their joy at giving grocery help to Holocaust survivors, 'care' packages to needy IDF soldiers and filling some clothing needs to bless those in a Special Needs home facility.

The Abramov's wrote: "We saw some small teams come and assist us and true lovers of Zion. Our trips for locals are going so well, each having a gospel witness. We are grateful for true brothers in the land praying with us, lifting us up, encouraging us and being a true example of Jesus humble and selfless love. Our prayer is all the body would follow in the pure spirit of true lowly brotherhood. All praise to our Lord!" Other Revive Israel items this week is a short word from Eitan Shishkoff, MERCY – רחמים on the vision he received back in 1989 for an oasis of God's Mercy for the people of Israel, and what it means to be moved with the compassion of Yeshua for the sick, demon-oppressed, downtrodden, lepers and slaves. Yad Hashmona is a Messianic kibbutz outside of Jerusalem - literally a small village where Messianic families can live together in community and where the Revive Israel ministry center is located. Their current building project of 36 new homes is finally moving forward. "Six families from our team will hopefully be moving in this summer when the homes are finished. This project has gone through many challenges: two lead contractors left the project, filed for bankruptcy and caused many families to lose money. We are asking for your prayers over the coming months for everything to be completed by the summer and for grace for all the families who will be moving in. From the HaCarmel Assembly in Haifa, a report from David and Karen Davis and Senior Pastor Dani and Luanne Sayeg begins with an eye on the spring holiday season now in session. First with Purim, and on April 22nd, the Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread.  We always like to point out that the Biblical holy days are appointed times among the Jewish people for the Messianic community to be a light to their people leading to recognition of the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua. Pray for all the Israeli ministries, and Messianic ministries worldwide as they seek to keep tradition with their Jewish family, while revealing the spiritual significance of Yeshua to these holidays.

The congregation also asks for prayer for complete healing and recovery for Pastor David as he continues to rebuild his strength in his battle against cancer. Pray for strength and health for Karen as she devotes herself to caring for him in this season.

When Rick Ridings first brought the 24/7 prayer house movement to Israel, Succat Hallel was operated entirely by volunteers from the nations who would come to serve in internships. There is still internships at Succat Hallel but to put the deepest roots into the soil they recognized a few years ago that it would be necessary to develop a paid ministry staff from the local Messianic Jewish and Christian community.  Today they have 10 full time local ministry staff who serve at Succat Hallel and help  organize the Elav youth conference, and they go out to strengthen other houses of prayer across Israel and the Middle East.  Read more about this ministry and a special need Ridings is sharing for the remaining days of April.

Rick and Patti also write: "Thank you for your prayers for our daughter, Esther.  A doctor even stated that it was a miracle that her MRI showed the cancer had not spread from her lymph nodes (which were removed in the operation) into the rest of her body!  Please continue to agree with us that she is cancer-free for the rest of her life!  Thanks also for your prayers of protection over us and over Israel, as we see the continued grace of the Lord's watching over us. We pray a very blessed Passover for you and your family."

From Katy at Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram's Maoz Ministries this wonderful good report:  "Last week we asked you to pray for Emmanuel, who needed an urgent liver transplant, and who has had many roadblocks to clear because of his delicate physical situation. We are happy to report that yesterday (4/6) Emmanuel successfully underwent a transplant surgery which lasted almost 11 hours. He has been in recovery since last night.  It took several miracles to get him through this.  THANK YOU for your prayers!"

She also shares that Jacob Damkani has suffered a health setback and asks for prayers:  "Several months ago we prayed together for Jacob Damkani, a Messianic Leader and a friend.  Yesterday Jacob went back to the hospital for an extensive checkup after he had a few symptoms which did not look good. Just last month, a movie highlighting Jacob's testimony and faith called "The Preacher" premiered in one of Tel Aviv's most popular theaters.  Clearly this is an attack of the enemy, as Jacob has been boldly proclaiming the Gospel throughout Israel. Please PRAY for wisdom for the doctors as Jacob goes through many tests to discover the source of these symptoms.  PRAY for Jacob's complete healing."

What Can't I Hear? By Asher Intrater http://www.revive-israel.org

Recently I felt a dramatic decrease in my hearing. I went to an ear specialist. The woman doctor was about my age and had a rather serious demeanor. She looked in my ear.  Then she pulled out a primitive instrument, something like a letter opener, and said, "This might hurt a bit."

She dug the pointed object into my right ear and moved it around in a circular motion while I squirmed and gritted my teeth.  She did the same with my left ear.  Then she said, "This is getting a little tough, but I want to get it all out." She scraped and I screamed.  After about a minute on each ear she held out two small, nut-sized plugs of dirt and wax that had been in each ear.  I sat there shaking and wiping my eyes, recovering from the experience.

But then I noticed something.  All my hearing had returned–Instantly!  It was wonderful, beautiful I felt like dancing!  I went over to my "Dr. Serious" and gave her a big hug and kiss. Finally she grinned.  I walked out and have never had a problem since.

Yeshua said, "I have many more things to tell you, but you are not able to bear them now" – John 16:12.

What a shocking statement! We ask God to speak to us. But the problem is not with His speaking but with our willingness or ability to hear what He wants to say. The problem is not with God's mouth but with our ears--or more properly, with our hearts.

Why can we not bear to hear what God wants to tell us? What does He want to tell you that you are unwilling to hear? Are there areas in which we really don't want to know the truth about ourselves? Yeshua said there are "many more things" like that.

For this reason God gives us the Holy Spirit on the inside, so that He can lead us into all the truth that we didn't want to hear (John 16:13). He tells it to us gently and lovingly on the inside, circumventing our tendency to want to "kill" the messenger who brings bad news.  Let's pray, "Lord, help me to listen to the Holy Spirit on the inside. Help me to hear and bear up under the things you are trying to tell me. Amen."

Paul Wilbur and Eitan Shishkoff | Vision for the "Fields of Wheat"

Friendship is a treasure.  Friendship in the Kingdom reflects the very nature of our King.  Over the years we have been rewarded by knowing you and by serving Yeshua together.  We—Paul and Eitan—have been caught up in something so profound and so potential-laden that we feel compelled to share it with you.

From walking with you, we know that your heart is drawn to the restoration of Israel—the fulfillment of Ezekiel’s prophecy that the dry bones will arise again and be filled with the life of God’s Spirit.  This resurrection is, of course, the very awakening of last days’ Jewish faith in Jesus as Messiah—leading to His soon return.

By the inspiration and orchestration of our Lord we have arrived at a turning point in the divine plan of Jewish and Gentile disciples joining together in the purposes of God.  No longer separated, no longer insecure with each other, it is now time to fuse our faith in preparation for the final harvest.  How can we practically achieve this?

Please allow us to convey the remarkable kairos hour before us.  As a personal favor, we’re asking you to prayerfully read the following account and to seek the will of the Father.  We would so love to walk into this calling together.                                                    

Wind of the Spirit  |  Some 2.000 years ago the wind of the Holy Spirit blew upon 120 Jewish disciples in Jerusalem on the feast of Shavuot. That wind energized them to proclaim the good news of Yeshua the Messiah to the ends of the earth. The same wind was revealed to Ezekiel when he blew on the dry bones of scattered Israel. Today, the wind of the Spirit is blowing again. Just as those Jewish disciples, filled with the Holy Spirit, took the gospel to Gentiles, Gentile believers around the world are being anointed to participate in Israel’s revival. “For if their rejection be the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance be, but life from the dead” (Romans 11:15 NASB).

The time is ripe for a radical change in the church’s orientation to Israel and the Jewish people. It has always been God’s plan to unite Israel and the nations together in the Messiah. What started as a Jewish movement expanded to embrace brothers and sisters from the nations as full-fledged members of God’s family. Not since the early church, though, have Jesus’ Jewish disciples participated in His body.  Now, in our generation, the church is being called to its prophetic role in the restoration of Israel to the family of Messiah.

A Year for Redemption - 2016  |  I (Paul) witnessed a supernatural response to this calling on the part of Canadians, last year.  The Holy Spirit moved dramatically from coast to coast. Canadians rose up to bless the Messianic body of believers in Israel with generous donations and offerings of silver and gold, totaling upwards of a million dollars. This was not the culmination of a fund raising campaign but the response of willing hearts to sow a holy offering toward Israel’s restoration.

2016 is the year the church in the United States can take their place in this redemptive story. We believe that what started in Canada will spiral up to an even greater move of the Holy Spirit in the USA--the nation tied more deeply to Israel than any other in modern times. Starting in June 2016 we will be gathering in 12 major cities across America for a one evening “Holy Convocations” to worship, intercede, bring our offerings, and re-establish our bond together as One New Man with the Messianic community in Israel.

Fields of Wheat – A place to bless all Israel | The recipient of these offerings will be “Fields of Wheat.”  The fruit of Israel’s reborn Messianic community, Fields of Wheat is a pioneer vision to create a national center in the Galilee.  This picturesque village will be an environment for worship, prayer, refreshing, discipleship, and equipping of the next generation—serving the entire body of believers in Israel, both Messianic Jews and Christian Arabs. It will be a tangible expression of the one new man, restoring the testimony of Yeshua in the Galilee. Fields of Wheat will also welcome believers from the nations and new immigrants returning to their homeland.

We are approaching these events with the expectation of the Spirit’s outpouring as we come together in unrestricted worship before the Lord.  The prophet Joel promises such an outpouring unto the salvation of the Jewish people; and the apostle Paul declares the phenomenon of our covenant unity as One New Man.
