Priority Prayer Focus Sept 25, 2013

“And these are the days of Ezekiel
The dry bones becoming flesh
And these are the days of Your servant, David
Rebuilding a temple of praise
“And these are the days of the harvest
The fields are all white in Your world
And we are the laborers that are in Your vineyard
Declaring the Word of the Lord”

“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no Shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest.  Matthew 9:36-38

Arrows from Zion
Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

For the last few weeks the Israeli ministries have had full plates not only with the latter harvest Feast of the LORD, but also with the many Christian visitors who book tours during the holidays that God commanded Israel to observe evermore.  It will be another couple of weeks before life returns to a semblance of normal as visitors in Israel begin to wrap up their tours.  Right now there is an exchange going on between Christians from China and the Revive-Israel and Maoz ministries.  Pray for the LORD to do everything He wants to do in forging these spiritual “first and last” Remnants of believers.

In the first weeks after returning home, that is when the LORD began to unpack everything we have had been deposited in our spirits during the trip. Pray for all the Christian visitors to Israel over the High Holy Days that God would begin to quicken the things from Him that they did not necessarily recognize during the trip.  Pray for the connections between the Body of Messiah in Israel and the international church to grow deeper and  that the work of the Spirit in the Land would find new allies for the salvation of Israel in the Far East.

From the northern coastal port of Acco, an Israeli born in that city holds a vision for helping the believers in his region with some of the parenting load by offering faith-based after school ministry.  Guy Cohen, who leads the Harvest of Asher congregation has been providing a program that is focused on fellowship and building friendship for the children of believing families in the Western Galilee.  Growing up without close exposure to other believers in school and neighborhood may be one of the greatest Messianic families face in Israel.

The program starts up again in October with double the number of children signed up to participate – which also means double the finances needed to cover food, transportation, teachers and materials.  If you want to invest in the children of Messianic Jewish families in Israel, this is a great place to do it.  You can read more of Guy Cohen’s thoughts on helping believer families inside the attached Weekly Summary where there is also contact and donation information on all the ministries we include in this brief.

While we are on the subject of ministry for the children of Messianic families, this update was issued by the Jerusalem Institute of justice (Messianic attorneys) who are going to bat for the Makor HaTikvah Messianic Jewish school in Jerusalem.  The Israel Ministry of Education have denied granting a license for the school to continue operations and receive regular government funding.  This will leave a heavy financial burden on the families committed to give their children an education compatible with Messianic Jewish faith.  JIJ writes that the reasons cited by the government for denying the license are not factual.  JIJ requests financial assistance in the fight for freedom of religion that is at the core of this case.  Read more inside the attached Weekly Summary and learn how you can help JIJ as it fights the legal battle of the Body of Messiah in Israel.

Backtracking to the Acco Harvest of Asher congregation, Guy Cohen writes that due to pressure from the religious community in Acco the city social services backed out of allowing the ministry to help aiding needy families.  There is a door that has opened once again for Harvest of Asher to help with the holiday food coupon distribution.   This year the Acco congregation has been able to run a soup kitchen, a Center for the Blind and a summer program for children with autism.

Which reminds of the prayer request we received last week from a Galilee ministry for intercession to be made in the upcoming municipal elections that will be held throughout Israel.  We have seen that as the leadership in the city governments change that can mean an increase or a decrease in the troubles mounted against the Messianic believers in the city.  Arad, Tiberias, Acco – many cities in Israel with a large religious population means elected officials being negatively persuaded by the religious against the congregations.  That means everything from building permits to whether or not they will let the congregations help in humanitarian aid rides on how much the city government bows to religious, orthodox influences.  Life is much easier when the secular government officials govern.  Pray for Israel’s municipal government elections to be a door opened by the Lord for His laborers to work.

We have received many pictures of the lovely sukkahs that Israeli ministries have been eating festive meals in the past week, including the pretty blue and white one pictured in Israel Pochtar’s prayer letter.  He writes, “The atmosphere during the feast of tabernacles in Israel is quite amazing. It's not something you can experience living anywhere else, even if you do want to.”  Israelis take part in the festival with great joy. (Asher Intrater writes about the prophetic meaning in the Teaching Article section. When it comes to joy – this is just a foretaste!)

Pochtar also sent a photo (see both pics inside the attached Weekly Summary) of the Wall packed with holiday worshippers – men on one side, women on the other – who came to pray.  Looking at it I thought, It is standing room only at the Wall, but soon it will be even greater numbers of Jews who are flocking to the Door, the only Door to salvation, Messiah Yeshua.   Continue to pray for all the seeds that have been planted in these High Holy Days, so that new life emerges soon.

Asher Intrater reports that the Yom Kippur conference in Jerusalem with five other ministries was outstanding – another significant breakthrough.    Asher writes, “the unity among the congregations and the leaders was flawless (a miracle for us Jewish believers!); Chaim Warshawsky's traditional worship elements were powerfully anointed; there was revelatory teaching about breaking the roots of the curses that plague both the Church and the Jewish people.”

Next week, October 1-4, a small delegation of the Revive Israel team will be in Estonia for a conference. Please pray for fruitful ministry.

A ministry that Coach McCartney and Raleigh Washington  (Promise Keepers) set up under the Israeli directorship of Evan Levine (also the worship leader at Ahavat Congregation in Jerusalem) operates with the vision to help needy believers in Israel.  This is about as pure a vision as it gets when it comes to Christian donations to Israel precisely because the household of faith is put in first priority.  When we take care of the family, then the family can help the neighbors.  What goes on in most Christian giving is we take care of the neighbors and leave the family to scrap by without help.  That’s what I love about this ministry whose motto and reaility is “Helping the poor while advancing the kingdom.”

Evan Levine reports that during his trip in the U.S. a large ministry made a significant commitment to supply 50% of every distribution he approves to help needy Israeli believers.  If you have noticed there is a great diversity of the type of help HaTikva Project does. One helped a man pay for his own remodeling of his dad’s home so it could be sold at a significant profit to provide for his parents.  Another helped an Ethiopian Israeli single mom with young children whose work is caring for the elderly and cleaning houses. Already doing without, a major unexpected home repair would have taken years for her to pay off if HaTikvah did not come to her aid by financing a considerable portion of the necessary repairs.

These examples may not pull at your heartstrings like the crying babushkas of the manipulative commercials Rabbi Eckstein does commanding the lion’s share of Christian donations to Israel, but Eckstein’s aid does not further the kingdom of the LORD and giving to Israeli BELIEVER ministries does. HaTikva is a great place to give to see material and eternal benefits.

Joel Jelski, one of the young ministers in Israel whose calling it in prayer and the pro-life movement, gave us a report that Succat Hallel (24/7 prayer ministry in Jerusalem) is about to be moving to a new location.  They hope to invest less in their location rental and more in local ministry, including the youth group.

After two tragic family violence incidents in Israel , Joel is also requesting prayer “for  the hearts of the fathers to be turned to their children, and for God to restore the fathers and mothers of this generation, healing broken hearts and restoring families.”  He writes, “The family unit in Israel is so broken, and this generation is so fatherless. This issue came up strongly at the Elav conference, and we continue to see the enemy destroy families.”

Rick Ridings of Succat Hallel also filed a report on the Elav (“Unto Him”) gathering which was held this year in Haifa.  You can see some of the photos Riding sent of the event that drew some 600 Jewish and 200 Arab young adults with another 200 international guests.  Pastor David Davis of the Carmel congregation brought a word about Elijah passing the mantle and the double portion to Elisha which led to a powerful wind of the Spirit’s leading on restoring relationships between parents and young people to come forth.

Ministers from Indonesia prayed for a youth revival in Israel like they are experiencing in their nation. Indonesia has one of the highest Muslim populations in the world and believers have experienced intense persecution, but in recent years millions have come to the LORD.  There was also significant ministry between the unity of Jews and Arabs at the Elav conference.  Read the details inside the attached Weekly Summary as one time of prayer and ministry formed a spontaneous prophetic act with the international participants flowed into.

This is the end time vision of the Father, Ephesians 2:14, that Yeshua has made of the two “one new man, Jew and Gentile”.   Growing up as one in Him.

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

·        Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:
Harvest of Asher asks
prayer for Elena who is now been moved to another hospital-hospice and continues to receive treatment. Please pray for Elena and her daughter.  They also ask prayer for M. who had surgery not long ago and his system is going through many changes causing the need for various health issues to be addressed on a continuing basis. Please keep him in your prayers.
·        Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
·        Please continue to intercede for Katya Morrison at Tents of Mercy. She has the good report of no leukemia in her latest extensive testing.  Prayers for her full recovery and victory over this disease is still needed.
  • Tom Bender Please pray for the tumor in his lymph node to shrink and disappear; for his Achilles tendons and ankles to be healed from a goutish condition, so he can walk more freely. Both ankles have greatly improved in their mobility since our last report; and for no pain in the area of the enlarged lymph node..
  • Keep Baby Netaley’s full recovery in your prayers.
  • Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the 2008 bomb blast – and that he would win the appeal for government recognition that he is a terror victim.  It would mean benefits for the continuing surgeries and legal expenses.  See Leah’s report on the latest round of laser surgeries on Ami’s scarring in this issue.

Praying the Headlines

Syrian Front by Asher Intrater, Revive Israel  |  General Yair Golan, head of IDF's northern command, was interviewed this week concerning his views on the Lebanon-Syrian front (Yediot, musaf, 18-9-13). He said that since Assad cannot rule effectively, yet neither can the rebels offer an alternative, there is likely to be long-term instability. He also said that despite the lack of an alternative, it is not morally acceptable for the current regime to continue since it has murdered 10's of thousands of people. The Syrian army has used over 40% percent of its missile stockpile on its own citizens (otherwise aimed potentially at Israel).

While there are an estimated 6,000 Islamic Jihad (Al Qaida related) fighters in Syria they are still relatively small and primitive in comparison to the Syrian army, and therefore pose a lesser threat at this time.

The recent fighting has strengthened the bonds in the Iran-Hezbollah-Syrian axis of evil. Hezbollah has doubled its missile arsenal to more than 100,000 (!) advanced rockets since 2006.  Hezbollah agreed to send troops to help Assad in an agreement that weapons would continue to be transferred through Syria to Hezbollah. Much of these weapons are located purposely in civilian developed areas, which means that should a war break out against Israel, major damage would befall the Lebanese cities.

Tabernacles and the Triumphal Entry

The Biblical Holy Days are appointed times that have symbolic and prophetic meaning. They are a type of parable that can be understood on several levels. In addition to the agricultural and historical meanings in the Torah, there are also New Covenant fulfillments of the Holy Days.
