Mazal Tov to the new parents Jonathan & Simcha, and grandparents Dan & Patti Juster, as Rafael was circumcised in the covenant sign of Israel last week. The 7th Juster grandchild, Rafael will be raised in the Way to take his place as a third generation Messianic Jew in Israel.

Mazal Tov also to Rachel (45) and Alberto (60), who have recently learned that Rachel is pregnant for the first time. Rejoicing with the delighted couple as they prepare to welcome a new member to their family and adjust to sudden new realities.

The annual summer Katzir (Harvest) Youth conference has ended and was a resounding spiritual success according to reports. PRAY that the Holy Spirit will continue the work in these teens as they go back to reality of being surrounded by unbelievers. PRAY they will be a light to their peers, their families and their communities. Watch this video from 2010 to get a taste of Katzir.

A large congregation in Tel Aviv asks prayers for a new congregational facility that will accommodate their growth and be in a less run down part of town. Many of the congregations need to expand or relocate facilities and many have been waiting for years to be in the position. Pray for breakthroughs.

There are several extremely serious healhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifing requests this week – two from cancer (Ronen and Brookie). Also another believer is asking for prayers for his unsaved father who is ailing to accept Messiah.

The drug and alcohol rehab of the Carmel Congregation, Beit Nitzachon or House of Victory led by Eric Benson asks for prayers over their new outreaches in the streets of Tel Aviv. Their teams are finding people open to listen to worship in some of the darkest alleys of Tel Aviv. One victory story on video.
Agree with their prayer: “that the devastation that Satan has brought into the lives of the men in our house will be stopped by the power of God's love.”

Pray for Israeli outreaches underway or soon to be in Italy, India, Brazil, Great Britain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Japan, German and the United States. Isaiah 2:3 “…for out of Zion shall go forth the Torah (instruction in Divine standards), and the word of the LORD (prophetic) from Jerusalem.”

In the Israeli congregations, there is a great need for translating the services into many different languages. Hebrew is a tough language to learn so in the transition period the congregations must tap people who can translate in Russian, English and other languages of their community. Also, translators are needed to send out prayer letters to the believers in all the world who desire to connect with Israeli ministries. This week we see prayer requests for translators in both of those areas. Pray for faithful translators to meet these needs.

There is a continued request for prayer over the congregants throughout Israel who are in need of jobs and for those who are self-employed to see an increase in business. If you have ever experienced living hand to mouth, you know how all of life goes on hold as all effort is focused in sustaining life support. Pray for God’s favor, grace and provision on His people in the area of income-producing.

PRAYING THE HEADLINES: The Caspari Media Review translates from the Hebrew Jerusalem Post about an arson attack against a Messianic Jewish woman in Eilat, that follows three other incidents against the woman.

They also summarize several letters to the editor that were printed in response to the large ad the anti-Messianic activists Yad L’Achim ran in the paper. One reader from Liverpool wrote: “With the past record of such organizations (attacks and daily persecution), how did you see fit for such an advert to be placed in your newspaper? I am all for freedom of speech and the right to follow one's chosen religion, but this should apply to all citizens of Israel, and not to a select band of self-appointed 'protectors."

Another reader from Jerusalem wrote: “"The Yad L'Achim ad is hate-speech. In allowing it, The Jerusalem Post has started down a path that will inevitably lead to the open, legalized murder of individuals deemed targets of the organization. It bears far too similar a resemblance to Nazi propaganda of the 1930s."

This week we begin the prayer points with a subject that led in many of the prayer letters this week: the advertisements that the anti-Messianic activists of Yad L’Achim ran against the believers in two major Israeli newspapers over the last month. (See it here.)

Pray for the plans of these misguided LOST souls to be thwarted - of whom the apostle Shaul/Paul rightly spoke, “Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. “ (Romans 10:1-2)

Pray for the entire Israeli Jewish Body of Messiah to be granted great grace, wisdom and boldness for this battle they are well aware cannot be avoided but must be engaged with the same complete dependence upon direction from Abba that Yeshua Himself demonstrated throughout His ministry.

Pray Acts 4:29-30 which the first century believers also prayed over themselves: "Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Yeshua"

Pray for the many in the Israeli public, press, law enforcement, legal system and government who are watching all these things because they are in the VALLEY OF DECISION. As Joel 3:14 says, Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

Pray for the Church in the Nations to awaken to the reality that the clock is again ticking on the Book of Acts, a book that chronicled the opening strains of salvation through Yeshua in Israel for the first 28 chapters and has begun being written again in our generation with the crescendo fulfilling Paul’s prophetic statement “and so all Israel shall be saved as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall tuhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifrn away ungodliness from Jacob.” (Romans 11:26)

Zion’s Glory Ministry writes: In September there are two major international events that are aimed at the delegitimization and criminalization of Israel. The first event is the planned "Durban III" to be held at the UN. headquarters in NYC, September 21…. in order to coincide with the annual opening of the United Nations General Assembly…. The second major event facing Israel in September is the planned declaration of a Palestinian state in the General Assembly of the UN…. A unilateral decision for statehood by the Palestinians would eliminate the need for them to recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state…. the establishment of a state which would serve as a launching pad for further military strikes against Israel.

The Santoro’s continue: There is no doubt that the planned outcome of this conference is to once again condemn and delegitimize the very existence of Israel as a Jewish State. But God is mighty, so let's join together and impact history with our prayers. We ask you to please commit yourselves to praying and interceding against this dark event over the coming two months. … Please pray and intercede that this anti-Israel vote would be derailed. We have started to see some resistance coming from several European capitals, the US and other nations. Please pray that God will destroy all of these evil plans.

Thank God for good news from Arad! The judge warned them against not making a plea deal saying they would be sorry, but Eddie replied I cannot bear false witness against myself. The court date finally arrived and the Judge saw through the subterfuge of anti-missionary tales against them, viewed the security video of the actual incident and rendered his verdict that Eddie was NOT GUILTY! Praise God.

Please continue to pray for the Beckford’s who have been under house arrest for 3 years and have two more anti-missionary nuisance lawsuits to go through before house arrest is lifted. Those verdicts could be handed down in Sept – though may delays have prevailed through all the court cases. This was a huge lift of their spirits – pray for the LORD’s encouragement to continue to fight the good fight.

Pray also for an Arad believer who has turned her back on Messiah and wrecked havoc among the believing community, upon her marriage and her family.

In northern Israel there are reports of weddings and baptisms! The family of Yeshua is growing in every way and the need to enlarge their tents is a familiar refrain we are hearing from many Israeli ministries. Pray for the LORD who is causing this growth among the Israeli ministries to send those alongside to help with the expense of the multiplying Body in Israel.

There is a huge number of Russian-speaking believers in Israel, and Return to Zion is one of the ministries that is investing in strengthening them with the Haifa Theological Institute, as well as to train Russian speaking Messianic leaders of the future. Think about this: the Messianic community in Russia is also relatively new, fledgling even. Who will come alongside to help finance the spiritual building up the Russian speaking Body of Messiah in Israel? http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

From the House of Victory which is a rehab ministry under the auspices of the HaCarmel Congregation in Haifa, see a powerful video testimony of a man who was addicted to heroin for so long it looked hopeless even to those who took him in to work with. Many Christians assume the Holy Land is actually holy, but it takes workers ministering in the power of Yeshua to rescue Israelis from all the pitfalls common to man.

Thanks for the prayers for the leader of the Katzir Youth Camp who leg was injured at the start of the gathering. Eitan Shishkoff said he is "Vastly better thanks to all the prayers (and an elastic knee bandage.) Grateful for continued prayer as I prepare for this 3 week plus multi-city journey."

Bass wrote an article during the 2008/9 Gaza war as deep divisions between the indigenous Body of Messiah – Jew and Arab – began to surface because of the war. One again those swirling undercurrents are relevant as we seek to become ‘one new man’ in the midst of conflicts. “Yeshua/Jesus/Isua is the only one who can heal these deep, deep wounds of our histories, of God's sovereign will and choices, of our own particular experiences and perceptions of those histories, of our feelings of acceptance or rejection by God the Father Himself.”

This quote is a true statement even on just a natural level. Imagine how much greater the weight of it is upon the true spiritual leaders of Israel which is the context it was spoken in. There are many things that can be prayed all round this, but our priority of the week is toward these spiritual leaders of the Body of Messiah in Israel.

The annual summer camp for teens, Katzir (Harvest) is underway in the Galilee as of Sunday evening and is 10-days in duration. Pray for the gathering which is so spiritually strengthening to the young people who rarely the experience of being around other believers in their schools and neighborhoods. Significant things are done in these camps and your prayers will help.

Pray also for all those who put the camps on – there are many camps for kids and teens throughout the summer to meet all the diverse streams with the Body in Israel. The leader of the Katzir camp, Eitan Shishkoff, injured his leg just as the teens began arriving for the camp. Pray for healing for Eitan who will also be leaving for a U.S. tour just days after the camp ends. All those who pour out their lives into the young people could use your prayers now.

Pray for Yeshua to walk among the kids, the teens and all the teams that are ministering among them in every one of the summer camps – and that the Holy Spirit would build them all up in the inner man with the presence of their King.

Pray for those teens who will participate in the Yad b’Yad programs with the youth of Germany and Poland, a ministry of reconciliation as they walk hand in hand through Auschwitz/Birkenau. Pray also for the teens that will be involved in camps that involve Arab and Jewish youngsters coming together to allow our children on both sides to experience Body life across 'fields of conflict'.

Succat Hallel, one of the 24/7 Houses of Praise that has planted in Israel and in several Middle Eastern nations, is preparing for its annual ELAV “unto Him”
Each of these summer camps is endeavoring to impart something of the magnificently huge love of Yeshua into the young believers. Worthy of prayer and support!

Another program for those who have graduated high school and are preparing to enter mandatory IDF service, is the excellent Netsor, or Guard, program. This will help prepare the 30 to 40 young people from believing families in Israel to make the adjustment from school days to military service – and walking it in the spiritual strength of the LORD. Please pray for these young people transitioning.

Continue to pray for ministry and staff of Revive-Israel in Jerusalem who are in the cross-hairs of a campaign to harass them for their faith. We have seen these tactics in Arad and other places, where no matter what the law says, they keep coming with harassment lawsuits, demonstrations, accusations, etc. Pray for Asher, and the ministry secretary and her husband, who have been dragged to the police station again after one court threw out the false charges of breaking anti-missionary laws.

Pray for the whole ministry, as well as other Jerusalem area ministries, as this spirit is like a wildfire that leaps out to other Messianic Jews in the area. Calev Myers of the Jerusalem Institute of Justice is the legal counsel for the Revive team. Pray for wisdom and favor as they appear before the police, magistrates, courts and media. Pray that what the enemy has meant for evil to be turned for good and the open declaration of the gospel/good news.

Thanks be to God for the praise report from Tents of Mercy for Arthur who received a head injury in an accident. Arthur is up, walking, talking and hearing perfectly with no permanent damage. His memory is undamaged and the family is rejoicing. The congregation is buoyed in faith. Arthur still needs prayer for the full restoration of his vision, and they congregation asks that his healing be a mighty testimony in the community.

This week Glenn Beck spoke at the Knesset in advance of his Aug 24 rally at Teddy Stadium in Jerusalem advocating for international support of Israel and opposition to terrorism. One Israeli ministry asks for prayers that the rally be a resounding success & an awakening in Israel to see how significant Christian support of Israel is to the nation. Another ministry said of Beck’s Knesset speech that he WOW-ed the Knesset. For such a time as this….

Asher Intrater writes briefly about how financial integrity in Christian donations in Israel is a longstanding conflict (Acts 6:1 for example). He asks, Pray for righteousness on these issues in order to further revival here in the land. It is the flip side of what I am usually pointing out – which is how Christian giving has been diverted from the gospel-proclaiming indigenous ministries of Israel to misdirected funding of traditional Judaism or political projects in Israel. In both instances, we will be accountable before God for where we have sown our ‘talents’ and how we have invested them.

Inside the Weekly Summary Ami Ortiz’ mom Leah shares about a Divine appointment they had with one of the sister-in-law’s of Purim bomber Jack Teitel. Super testimony. It has been 3 years and Teitel has still not been declared fit or not fit to stand trial for the attempted murder (and murder charges). Teitel remains behind bars, but as they were able to relate to Teitel’s relative, the Ortiz family are not chained in unforgiveness to his murderous act. Only Yeshua can give us that release.

David Ortiz also shares the good news that Bible Gateway has heeded his plea (and other letter writers) to stop referring Christians “to learn of their Jewish roots” from Rabbi Eckstein (Fellowship of Christians and Jews). May this mark a breakthrough in Christians listening to the Messianic Jewish believers when issues like these present….and there are so many! Dear Ruth from Nahariya writes this month with a request for prayer of three close friends ranging in ages from 83 to 97 who need a revelation of Messiah. They’ve heard the gospel many times, and received the love of their friend, but it remains for God to reveal His Son. How many are on the doorstep of eternity in need of this revelation? We hear from Israeli ministry leaders for their own parents often.
Pray for God to open the eyes of the aged to Yeshua before the cross into eternity.

Many of the facilities for congregations across Israel are bursting at the seams and new venues are needed to hold the growth. It is a great need from fellowships that meet in homes, to even well known Israeli ministries. This is a great place to invest in the building of the Living Temple in Israel.

The Beckfords were scheduled for court last Monday, but it was cancelled and will be rescheduled. They face another court hearing on Sunday, July 17th. We have talked about it in the past, how weathered one becomes in a constant battering wind. Pray for Eddie and Lura, for the Lord to send a refreshing in the midst of the legal harassment of anti-missionaries against them.

From Netanya news that in the Fall two more congregations will be birthed out of the mother congregation. This is the fulfillment of a “dream” that has been waited upon for ten years. Please join in prayers “that the Lord will bring many to salvation in these new works.”

Several of the leading ministries in Israel are in need of vital staff members. Pray that the Lord would send into each position the exact person who will be blessed and be a blessing in that job. In the midst of fostering relationships between brothers in the Lord – Arab and Jewish – in Israel, there is only skipping the hard-to-reconcile issues in disagreement for so long. Then it is important that enough relationship has been established as a ground work to pressing in to the more sensitive issues in discord. With that said, it is encouraging to read what Howard Bass wrote this week:

They do hope that it will create a discussion that will lead to empowering the kingdom of God. “

In a Post Script from Bass: "For the record, I myself refused to take up arms when I had to serve in the IDF, as I believed that was God's will for me. Israel didn't understand, of course, and neither did many of the believers. But, despite my own responsibility before God on the matter, it doesn't allow me to impose my own personal application upon the Scriptures (including NT) for everyone else, when it seems that the Bible allows for different responses."

A follow up development in the anti-Messianic demonstration against believers in Jerusalem was reported: An American (Christian) reporter was present at this week's meeting. He has much experience reporting on persecution in the Muslim world. He called us and said, "I want to apologize. I thought your persecution was not real. Yet I experienced a fear here that I have never seen even in the face of Jihad radicals."

It is difficult, even for those working in the realm of Christian persecution, to come to grips with the reality of persechttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifution of Messianic Jews in Israel. Thank God this Christian reporter came face-to-face with the reality. Pray that he will be a firstfruits of the Church awakening to the Body in Israel.

Asher Intrater provides an instructive article, Missionaries, this week to help us understand the inflammatory accusations that religious zealots level against the believers in Israel. It also looks at the parallel experience between the current Body of Messiah in Israel, and those of the first century Israeli believers recorded in the Book of Acts.

If the Christian community at large understood these accusations, it would go far to remove the wedge of distrust of the Jewish believers these accusations create among Israel-supporting Christians. Pray for that wedge to be removed! Mark 3:24 “And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.”

Pray for the Summer Youth Camp Katzir which will be in progress July 10-19. This spiritual equipping camp has been making a deep impact on Israel’s believing teens for a decade under the direction of Tents of Mercy pastor, Eitan Shishkoff. Pray for all involved and for additional funds to cover every teen with a heart to be there. Ministries and congregations across Israel will participate in this fully-Israeli ministry cooperative.

We agree with the Maoz Ministries pray for the Katzir Camp: PRAY that God will stir these teenagers, and PRAY they will become torches of fire and light to bring the Gospel to their peers. PRAY that they will release hidden sin and grow strong in the Holy Spirit against the really pagan society that we have in Israel. PRAY for the safety of everyone involved in the camp.

Maoz Israel is increasing their staff with various positions opening for the right believer to fill. Pray that God will orchestrate the right person for each position – so all will be blessed.

Summer also means added challenges for the congregations and families with children. One prayer request we received was a bit of a shock: “Children are on a 2 month vacation. Please pray for safety while they are by themselves in their homes and fruitful time during the summer camps we have organized. We need more volunteers to help with the children and someone for the toddlers during service.”

Pray also for those believers throughout congregations in Israel who are seeking employment – that their gifts would make room for them according word of Proverbs 18:16, A man's gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men. Pray also for those shepherds who are equipping their congregations in practical areas of life, like the Acco congregation planning job seminars and counseling in September and October.

Pray for unity in the individual congregations and in the Israeli Body at large. Times of growth and change often cause us to be like sandpaper rubbing on each other’s flesh. Pray for the likeness of Messiah to emerge from these times – growth in maturity and His likeness rather than mere friction.

The next Negev Conference that is scheduled for Nov 12 is in the planning and logistics stages right now. The organizers ask for prayers over all the details so the different flocks that come together will be a work of the Spirit and a testimony of Yeshua.

Pray for the pastor from Zambia who is coming to seek wisdom for key issues (maintaining liberty as believers, dealing with false teaching, the significance of Israel to the Church) from an Israeli pastor. He is a firstfruits of Zechariah’s 8:23 prophesy: "This is what the LORD of Heaven's Armies says: In those days ten men from different nations and languages of the world will clutch at the sleeve of one Jew. And they will say, 'Please let us walk with you, for we have heard that God is with you.'"

Summer outreaches have begun and the entire Mediterranean coast of Israel is a huge opportunity to bless their fellow Israelis. Pray for those who will be on the beaches and in the inner cities reaching out to touch Israelis with Yeshua’s love. In recent weeks I read some complaints from anti-missionaries about those doing beach outreach. Pray for anointing of the Lord to be strong upon His people and for mighty things to be done in the name of Yeshua.

This was the prayer request of one ministry but certainly represents the situation of many in Israeli congregations: We are currently facing a critical shortage in finances to meet our on-going running costs for congregational salaries and maintenance expenses. Please stand with us as we pray 2 Cor. 9:8: “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Many Israeli ministries are touring in various places of the world over the summer. Pray that these times outside of the battle front which is life in Israel, will be fruitful in every way. These are an amazing group of people who in many cases have left behind their comfort zones to take their places in the harvest of the Lord’s vineyard of Israel. Agree with us for every grace to abound and Psalm 121:8 The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.

Blind Spots in the Body

When Martin Luther emerged as a groundbreaking man of faith after nailing his 95 Theses on the door of the Church in 1517, he also believed that God would return salvation to the Jews. In 1514 Luther wrote:

"Conversion of the Jews will be the work of God alone operating from within, and not of man working — or rather playing — from without."

He had that partially right. We can't make anyone see if God has not given them eyes to see. God has to give the revelation to every man - Jew or Gentile - before they can see Jesus.
