It is pretty hard to ignore the plain meaning of these verses that speak of a spiritual duty to minister to the material lack within the believing community in Israel – Romans 15:26-27
For it pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem. It pleased them truly; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in material things.
We Christians like to think we have no duties, but this clearly says we do – and it is a duty to a specific group in Israel.
The churches in Macedonia and Achaia were taught by the apostle Paul that their new spiritual wealth also produced a spiritual debt to the Jewish believers in Israel who labor in the gospel under a most taxing material environment. The debt was then – and still is today – toward the “ptochos hagios” or, the poor saints. Poor/ptochos: “destitute of wealth, influence, position, honor” and saint/hagios: “most holy thing, a saint”
This is a duty that has not “passed away” with the passage of time – and those who realize that we have been made partakers/koinoneo of the Jews’ spiritual things, that we have come into communion or fellowship with, become a sharer or made a partner with – will honor that which is due.
Then all the blessings that are released when we honor our debts will be released from Heaven. Pray for revelation of this to break in the Church.
A Foreword On Supporting Israeli Ministries
Israelprayer: Most of the Israeli ministries I have dealt with over the past 9 years of summarizing the prayer requests of Israeli ministries have struggles with appealing for donations. Many of them consistently send out prayer letters that do not even contain information on how to donate to the ministry, much less to they ask for donations!
For many, even to make the information readily available on their mailings feels like begging to them. It isn’t, and that is why I include each ministry’s donation information in the summary. It was always my desire to provide that information but only recently came into the position carry through.
I understand aversions to ministries we have all been exposed to who shamelessly appeal for donations like a bum on a bologna sandwich. It is off-putting, but even Yeshua said, ‘You have not, because you ask not.’ Personally, I believe that is a natural principle too - that He was not just talking about asking God in prayer, but we also have to learn how to ask our supporters when we need material support. It is not shameful for ministries to need material support.
Recently I saw something when a small Israeli ministry was making an appeal for supporters in a rather large Israel-supporting congregation. I had the sense that as he looked out over that audience he was like a under-fed child from Haiti being set down in the middle of a lavish banquet staring at excesses of food lying around on tables as far as the eye could see.
I don’t mean to embarrass or speak of the Israeli ministries as if they are third world, but frankly, the failure of the Israel supporting Church to support believer ministries in Israel – because we are too busy supporting un-believing Israelis – is a major reason why I started Israelprayer.com in the first place.
Around 1992 I had a revelation of the “duty” Paul told the Romans that Christians had to minister to the material needs of their brothers in Israel. (Romans 15:27) That revelation has never lessened over the years, but instead my eyes have been opened more and more to the significance Paul gave it in his many letters to the churches.
We are supposed to be supporting the work of the Body in Israel – not everyone EXCEPT the Body of Messiah in Israel.
Recently Asher Intrater wrote an article urging Israeli ministries to be a blessing to the Church, to not try and manipulate supporters using Romans 11. I agree, that is a good word – but the apostle Paul made it a major focus of his ministry to raise care and material support for the believers in Israel. Since he was the “apostle to the gentiles,” I believe Paul made it a major focus to set a precedent that is valid today when at long last Jews are coming to the knowledge of Yeshua, their Messiah.
If there ever was a time for Christians – and I also mean Messianic congregations – to support the work of the ministry in Israel, it is this day when the beginnings of “all Israel shall be saved” is upon us.

Pray for Israeli ministries who are trusting God through Yeshua to meet their ministry budgets, to be in a position to grow in ministry to the Body and outreach to their communities, to provide for their families and hire much needed staff, and to give in humanitarian outreach in the name of Yeshua, Israel’s Messiah.
Pray for those who are just stepping out of the boat, as Peter did, trusting the Lord for provisions for their ministries. Pray also for the ministries who are continuing to trust God in the midst of a worldwide economic crunch. Pray for every need to be met and for expectant faith to rise even in the face of lack.
Pray that God will give wisdom, direction and PEACE to all who are seeking Him for the direction for provisions and to meet the needs, some which are at a desperate level of need. Bless them with partners who desire to share in the fruit of the Israeli ministries.
Thank God for the many spiritual opportunities to build up the youthful Body of Messiah in the Land that are going on in these summer months. We pray for lasting fruit and more resources to continue in the ministry and outreach. Blessings upon all the young psalmists and worshippers in Zion!
Pray for the music and the teachings from the recent Elav and Katzir youth gatherings to continue to bear fruit and inspire supporters in the nations to greater support. Pray that DVDs and CDs to go out around the world as a testimony to the marvelous things God is doing in Israel.
It is illegal to evangelize anyone under the age of 18 in Israel under penalty of imprisonment. Yet the young people are spiritually hungry. Support One for Israel with $1 per month and help these indigenous believers reach Israelis online.
The Yad b’Yad (Hand in Hand) group – Israeli youth and German youth is getting underway: first stop Krakow, then 2 days in Auschwitz/Birkenau camps. Pray for these teens who are breaking through spiritual curses to become one in the Messiah. Pray for their leaders, too.
Palestinian and Israeli believers are flying out for 2-weeks together in the mountains of the U.S. Pray for this group – for forgiveness, brotherly bonds and grace to be upon them. Protection in these most difficult of reconciliation efforts.
Pray for the ministry who are publishing great Christian books into Hebrew for the benefit of the Body in Israel. Pray that no weapon formed against their employees to prosper and for the books to be as arrows in the hands of a mighty man to the readers in Israel.
Pray for the plans of Hezballah to be thwarted, their troops and leaders confused and that Israel would be protected from her enemies on all sides – over land, sea or air!
Pray for the lies of anti-missionaries to be exposed in full public view in Israel, for duplicity in dealing with these matters in police forces and courts to begin to dry up.
Pray for the events sponsored by the Israeli Ministries – tours, conference and other gatherings when the believers from the nations are drawn to Israel together with the Israeli Body. Pray for full tour groups and for the facilities of the believing community to also be blessed through these visitors.
As the U. S. State Department has cleared the way to more formal recognition of the PLO/Palestinian Authority, pray that the critical word “RECIPROCITY” return to the diplomatic language of those riding herd over negotiations between Israel and the PA .

Most of the words I’ve been getting from the LORD over the past several weeks come directly from the Gospel passages about water – like Peter walking on the water, or Yeshua sleeping in a boat crossing a threatening storm-tossed Galilee.
So as a priority prayer focus this week, Mark 4: 38-40: "The disciples woke Him and said to Him, 'Teacher, don’t You care if we perish?'
He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, 'Peace! Be still!' Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to His disciples, 'Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
Also, when Peter stepped out of the boat to walk on the water, there was nothing solid under his feet until every time he put his foot down to take a step forward in the calling of Yeshua.
These days our paths of our feet may seem like nothing solid is going to be there when we step out, but as we step out in faith in Him who is calling us forward, our foot will come down on a solid step.

Thank God for the “explosive grace” of the Katzir/Harvest youth gathering that has been taking place in Israel. Pray for the lasting impact on all the young people and for great family and congregational support and involvement in what the LORD has being doing among them.
Thank God that the young lives were touched with an impartation of the life of Yeshua that can carry them with spiritual strength as they return to their normal lives that is inhabited by few fellow believers their age in school, neighborhoods, etc. Pray for the flames of passion for God to abide in them.
Thank God for the many, many children’s camps going on throughout Israel right now – some including both Jewish and Arab believers together. Pray for God’s grace to be on all the ministry to the children that they will see the life of a believer exciting, fun and full-filling – not religious and confining!
Speak blessing on all the volunteers who are ministering to the children, teens and young adults over the summer holidays. These are not mostly paid ministry staff, but they are people with a calling from God who minister a labor of love. Pray for their needs to be met – for spiritual & material blessing.
There has been some misinterpretation – especially in Christian media – of the motives behind the lawsuit that the Beersheva congregation brought against Yad L’Achim and Rabbi Deri. Pray that this misinformation would be countered, and pray about being pro-active to be one who speaks up.
Asher Intrater is in the final stages of long awaited book on the pre-incarnate appearances of Yeshua throughout the New Testament. It is a powerful witness to religious Jews so pray for the final editing, publishing and distribution to be given a express path by the LORD.
Another extremist religious settler has been arrested in Israel with too many similarities to the Jewish terrorist arrested for the bombing of Ami Ortiz. The Ortiz family notes: “All we know is that there is always more than what meets the eye, and we are questioning more each day why Teitel has been hidden away in a mental institution for the past six months, with postponement after postponement by the district court psychiatrist, and why we haven't had the full cooperation or information sharing of any government legal or security service since the bomb went off in our house on March 20, 2008, critically wounding Ami.”
Pray with them: "We pray that what needs to be brought out into the light will be revealed, because we believe that the Lord wants to do something bigger than what we can see at this time."
Another Israeli ministry steps out of the boat of the familiar (security) of a business for provision into full time ministry. Pray for every step to be solid beneath her feet, and the feet of all others heeding the call of Yeshua to do so.
Pray for Israel as those who reject the truth are demonstrating the prophecy of 2 Thess 2 where God promises "to send the deceived a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness."
Please keep praying for Israel. In the natural, the opposition to Israel looks like an unassailable mountain but we serve a God who throws mountains into the sea.
Maybe you have never considered supporting this ministry - so let me encourage you to consider it now. Pray about it! We do valuable work for the indigenous ministries of Israel - that is not bragging, it is just the honest truth of the matter. Due to an unethical contractor refusing to make final payment on 3 separate cabinet-making subcontracts she had with my husband our finances have us on the brink. This has never been a business known for the highest level of character or integrity. I am asking for your prayers on our behalf. I watched as my husband dealt with this real estate-rehabber contractor and know he did everything humanly possible plus extra miles of patience. For her to continue to find excuses not to pay him – a continually moving target - her heart had to be set on not paying him all in the first place. The Hell’s Kitchen of house flippers. Thank you for your prayers. We are already under water as she strung us along for 3 weeks before finally saying she wasn’t paying more than 1/6 of what was owed. But God shall supply all our needs out of His riches…not ours. (and Help for me as I make heads or tails of the legal steps to file liens against the properties.)

Pray for the annual Katzir Summer Youth Camp that got underway on Sunday and continues through Monday the 19th. Pray for anointing-life-presence of God’s Spirit and FULL provision for the event from the $7,000 still needed to meet all expenses, to favor, logistical coordination, etc. BLESSING!
Jack Teitel will be back in court on Wed Jul 14 as psychiatrists have taken extended period to determine if he is “mentally fit” to stand trial. This is NOT an honest consideration, but a tactic used before to keep religious aggressors from accountability in Israel. Pray God will give the courts a heart to do right.
Praise God for the ear drum repair surgery on Ami Ortiz – surgery #14 – and pray for his next 3 weeks healing time for God to do a perfect restoration in the healing period. He is in much pain, saying this was the most painful of all the surgeries.
Like Pastor Guy in Acco, I also wonder how believers can read the Word of God and not see God’s heart for the nation of Israel to the end of the earth. There is awakening to Yeshua in Israel: pray into it and pray for those believers whose hearts are so hardened toward “the Chosen People” and they don’t at the core their jealousy perverts the clear meaning of biblical passages about Israel.
Pray for eyes blind to Messiah and eyes blinded to the love of the Father – even for Israel to this day – would fall like the scales that fell from Saul’s eyes. In that day the scales fell, He turned 180 degrees in zeal to pursue that which is the Lord’s heart. Pray for a repeat on a multiplied scale among unsaved Jews and among Christians who do not yet see Israel in God’s plans for today.
Pray for the ministries who are experiencing growing pains – the need for larger facilities, more trained leaders, more resources to strengthen the ones coming to them in the faith of the Lord, or in search of the Answer for their lives.
Pray for the exchange of prayer times and other ministry times between the Israeli Jewish and Arab believers. The Lord is doing a sovereign work – raising up a testimony in the Land of the peace that only He can bring into relationships. Pray into this work.
Pray for the ministries of Israel – many of whom are traveling among the nations – and many hosting believers from the nations visiting Israel – that God will release favor and grace, and will strengthen important bonds so the Body in Israel will have the care it needs to fulfill its destiny before Yeshua.
Thank God for the saints in Israel who keep their spirits right and in good times and bad, continue to press into the harvest by being ambassadors of peace and the good news of Israel’s Messiah.
Pray for every need to be met – and there are MANY among the Israeli ministries, congregations and congregants. Has it really changed from what Paul wrote to the Corinthinans? 1Cr 4:8-9

Pray for Y & K as they stand against the lies of the enemy in Israeli courts – that truth will prevail. Let God arise and the enemies be scattered. No weapon formed against them shall prosper – weapons may form, but shall not prosper in the mission to destroy the righteous, faithful of the Lord Yeshua.
Pray for all of the congregations and ministries in northern Israel as Hezballah becomes an increasing threat massing on the Lebanon border. As one noted: “We are daily aware of the presence of warships in the Gulf, and Israeli submarines prowling the waters.”
Since the port of Haifa is a prime target for Hezballah, the local congregations in the north are coming together for corporate prayer times and fasting – one going on from Jul 5-24th. Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and answering the prayers of the saints also represented by Lebanese Christians who fled Lebanon in 2000 as the IDF withdrew.
As I complete this prayer letter, breaking news on the Jrslm Post is saying that a Libyan ship is attempting to breakthrough the Israeli blockade of Gaza. The world press has GREATLY misrepresented the facts of the attempts to break the blockade. Pray for Israel to remain strong – and the blockade not to be broken – and for honest media to sought out for the true facts in this case.
Last year the Scots released the only terrorist from the Lockerbie plane bombing on “compassionate” grounds because he had cancer. Now Libya has re-inserted itself as an aggressor nation against Israel. Pray that the truth that actions such as the Scots took are interpreted in radical Islam as weakness not compassion – only to embolden aggressive activities.
Pray for the new stories of Christians living and dying in persecution in Muslim countries to rise from the news-worth-burying pile of press rooms! As one wrote this week:

Isaiah 19 - On a Highway of Restoration

The theme of the Highway appears all throughout the book of Isaiah. The word most commonly used in Hebrew for 'Highway' is "Mesilah" which refers to an exalted way or road that has been built up. I have often thought about what the Holy Spirit was trying to communicate to the prophet. For us the word "Highway" usually draws images of a modern structure of cement, steel and asphalt with cars and trucks zooming to and fro. In the scriptures however, most descriptive passages have both a physical and spiritual meaning. In a way, the vision points to an exalted way transcending the borders and territorial disputes that divide not only the people of these nations but also believers and churches.

Feature of the Week : Background: The Gates of Hell Part 2

After I sent out my article, The Keys to the Kingdom & the Vast Gates of Hell Prison System, I got a call from a Messianic Jewish friend in Virginia who has a ministry to Russian Jewry. He was excited to tell me some background on the location where the exchange I wrote about took place and said it flowed perfectly into what I had written. Indeed it did.
To quote myself, one of the things I said in that article was, “Now here is where many interpretations of the text go awry – because of not taking into account the original Hebrew context.”
Boy! I only knew the half of it! Yeshua did not snatch the term “gates of hell” out of thin air, but in true parabolic form gave His disciples an object lesson about the spirit realm in the very geographical location that demon spirits and false religions had claimed so many victims by sacrifice.

Like Pastor Guy in Acco, I also wonder how believers can read the Word of God and not see God’s heart for the nation of Israel to the end of the earth. There is awakening to Yeshua in Israel: pray into it and pray for those believers whose hearts are so hardened toward “the Chosen People” and they don’t at the core their jealousy perverts the clear meaning of biblical passages about Israel.
Pray for eyes blind to Messiah and eyes blinded to the love of the Father – even for Israel to this day – would fall like the scales that fell from Saul’s eyes. In that day the scales fell, He turned 180 degrees in zeal to pursue that which is the Lord’s heart. Pray for a repeat on a multiplied scale among unsaved Jews and among Christians who do not yet see Israel in God’s plans for today.
Pray for the ministries who are experiencing growing pains – the need for larger facilities, more trained leaders, more resources to strengthen the ones coming to them in the faith of the Lord, or in search of the Answer for their lives.
Pray for the exchange of prayer times and other ministry times between the Israeli Jewish and Arab believers. The Lord is doing a sovereign work – raising up a testimony in the Land of the peace that only He can bring into relationships. Pray into this work.
Pray for the ministries of Israel – many of whom are traveling among the nations – and many hosting believers from the nations visiting Israel – that God will release favor and grace, and will strengthen important bonds so the Body in Israel will have the care it needs to fulfill its destiny before Yeshua.
Thank God for the saints in Israel who keep their spirits right and in good times and bad, continue to press into the harvest by being ambassadors of peace and the good news of Israel’s Messiah.
Pray for every need to be met – and there are MANY among the Israeli ministries, congregations and congregants. Has it really changed from what Paul wrote to the Corinthinans? 1Cr 4:8-9
Now you are full, now you are rich, you have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God you did reign, that we also might reign with you. For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

Pray for Y & K as they stand against the lies of the enemy in Israeli courts – that truth will prevail. Let God arise and the enemies be scattered. No weapon formed against them shall prosper – weapons may form, but shall not prosper in the mission to destroy the righteous, faithful of the Lord Yeshua.
Pray for all of the congregations and ministries in northern Israel as Hezballah becomes an increasing threat massing on the Lebanon border. As one noted: “We are daily aware of the presence of warships in the Gulf, and Israeli submarines prowling the waters.”
Since the port of Haifa is a prime target for Hezballah, the local congregations in the north are coming together for corporate prayer times and fasting – one going on from Jul 5-24th. Pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and answering the prayers of the saints also represented by Lebanese Christians who fled Lebanon in 2000 as the IDF withdrew.
As I complete this prayer letter, breaking news on the Jrslm Post is saying that a Libyan ship is attempting to breakthrough the Israeli blockade of Gaza. The world press has GREATLY misrepresented the facts of the attempts to break the blockade. Pray for Israel to remain strong – and the blockade not to be broken – and for honest media to sought out for the true facts in this case.
Last year the Scots released the only terrorist from the Lockerbie plane bombing on “compassionate” grounds because he had cancer. Now Libya has re-inserted itself as an aggressor nation against Israel. Pray that the truth that actions such as the Scots took are interpreted in radical Islam as weakness not compassion – only to embolden aggressive activities.
Pray for the new stories of Christians living and dying in persecution in Muslim countries to rise from the news-worth-burying pile of press rooms! As one wrote this week:
“There is a deep ideological connection between the persecution of evangelical Christians internationally and the attacks against the nation of Israel. Part of the fundamental beliefs of Islamic Jihad is to destroy Israel and Christianity. May we awake before it is too late!”

Isaiah 19 - On a Highway of Restoration

The theme of the Highway appears all throughout the book of Isaiah. The word most commonly used in Hebrew for 'Highway' is "Mesilah" which refers to an exalted way or road that has been built up. I have often thought about what the Holy Spirit was trying to communicate to the prophet. For us the word "Highway" usually draws images of a modern structure of cement, steel and asphalt with cars and trucks zooming to and fro. In the scriptures however, most descriptive passages have both a physical and spiritual meaning. In a way, the vision points to an exalted way transcending the borders and territorial disputes that divide not only the people of these nations but also believers and churches.

Feature of the Week : Background: The Gates of Hell Part 2

After I sent out my article, The Keys to the Kingdom & the Vast Gates of Hell Prison System, I got a call from a Messianic Jewish friend in Virginia who has a ministry to Russian Jewry. He was excited to tell me some background on the location where the exchange I wrote about took place and said it flowed perfectly into what I had written. Indeed it did.
To quote myself, one of the things I said in that article was, “Now here is where many interpretations of the text go awry – because of not taking into account the original Hebrew context.”
Boy! I only knew the half of it! Yeshua did not snatch the term “gates of hell” out of thin air, but in true parabolic form gave His disciples an object lesson about the spirit realm in the very geographical location that demon spirits and false religions had claimed so many victims by sacrifice.

Because lawlessness abounds, the temptation is to let out love grow cold towards others. Pray we take refuge in the shelter of the Lord, and keep our love toward others warm and springing from the wells of our salvation.

Today Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is meeting with President Obama in Washington for an attempt to “reset” relations. Pray that it will be a sincere re-set on the part of our President with a genuine recognition that (1) Israel is a friend, (2) Israel has a right to defend herself, & (3) Most Americans are in agreement that the U.S. must continue to be a TRUE ally and friend to Israel.
Thank God for what He has done at the Elav Youth Conference and what He is about to do at the Katzir Annual Summer Youth Gathering. Pray for deep, lasting work of the Holy Spirit among all the youth, and the young adults ministering in this gathering.
Ask God’s blessing upon the many summer camps being conducted for the children this summer throughout the believing community. Pray for all those workers who are doing everything from preparing lunches & applying band-aids to boo-boos, to those ministering the Word to little ones.
Blessings upon brand new grandparents Asher and Betty Intrater, whose son and his bride have brought a healthy and blessed new baby girl into the world. Mazel Tov to all.
Four years Gilad Shalit, a young Israeli soldier, has been held in the Gaza strip after being abducted by terrorists. Tho PM Netanyahu has agreed to release 1,000 imprisoned Palestinians without blood on their hands in exchange, the terrorists always balk holding out for more. Pray for Gilad’s release by a miracle from God – not thru concessions which only increase terrorist kidnappings and demands.
On the day of the Green Prince Mosab Hasan Yosef’s deportation hearing, the U.S. suddenly dropped their bid to deport Mosab under the material support of a terrorist law. Mosab is now in line to be granted asylum as the hero and counter-Hamas-terrorism expert he is. Thank God for this!
Thank God for the joint Israeli-German worship-warfare that was conducted at the end of June in Saxony, a gateway of demonic release in the Holocaust. Thank God for showing up in a mighty way among the participants and doing things in the Spirit to heal the breach that released so much death and destruction.
Pray for the Israeli ministries – many Jewish and also many Arab pastors and congregations who are ministering under incredibly tight funding situations. Few ministries in the U.S. can even relate to the realities of how ministries keep afloat there. Pray for faithful givers for each of these life-giving ministries and outreaches, even enough for the pastoral families too.
Speak blessings upon the ministries of Israel who are continuing to travel during the summer to the nations – the Hydes, the Silvers, the Bass family, the Beckfords and many others. For the covering and favor of the Lord to be upon them, anointing in ministry and Divine appointments al l the way.
Pray for the believers who live on the northern border of Syria and Lebanon. The times are intense.
Pray for the summer outreaches – and protection from the anti-missionary activists who often physically attack citizen-ministers doing outreach on the streets.
