Priority Prayer Focus

The Santoro’s write about the long holiday season from Passover and “the nation immediately passes through another eight days in which we remember and honor the memory of those who gave their lives in the Holocaust and in the birthing and ongoing battle for Israel's life.”

“There are so many who share in the experience of being the only survivors of large families that were murdered in Europe during those years.  It is one of the unnatural legacies of this nation that so many have no extended, older families. For them the long history of generations was wiped out during the years of the Holocaust and their family history started anew from one lone survivor. For so many other families, there were no survivors and their family history was terminated in a sea of blood and murder.

Pray for the Jewish people to awaken to this opportunity for a new future and hope:  "Speak comfort to Jerusalem, and cry out to her, That her warfare is ended, That her iniquity is pardoned; For she has received from the LORD's hand Double for all her sins." Isaiah 40:2 and Jeremiah 29:11

Santoro continues, “…as the sun sets on Memorial Day, the nation will move from grief to joy, as Israel celebrates the miracle of its birth 64 years ago.” 

The re-birth of Israel is a miracle of God, who put in place everything that made it possible to raise the state of Israel out of the dust bin of history and place it once again in the central focus of the nations of the world.  It does not matter that some do not regard Israel’s birth in 1948 as a miracle of God – there have ALWAYS been those who did not regard the miraculous taking place in their sight.  What matters is that God has intentions – a Divine Purpose – in the re-birth of Israel.  It is not so Israel has to continue to live in a swirling fight for her life day in and day out, year in and year out.  No!  God has declared His purpose:  “I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD. ‘Plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” 

And "I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory."  Isaiah 46:13           

Ron and Elana Cantor write this week about the juxtaposition of flying to Germany on Holocaust Memorial Day.  Let’s join our prayers of thanksgiving with Ron’s:  “Thank God for a new generation of German believers who love and bless Israel.  I have always believed that the separation of East and West Germany was God’s judgment…and the reunification was God’s forgiveness.  We love to express that to our brothers and sisters when we are there—God has taken away their shame!”

Pray for Ron and Elana as they minister in Germany “as representatives of Maoz Israel, seeking to raise awareness in Germany concerning what God is doing in Israel and expose the lies of replacement theology.”  There is an increasing number of German Christians who are connecting with the Messianic believers of Israel and this is going to be a critical connection in the days ahead.  “Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”

Cantor’s new book, Identity Theft: How Jesus was Robbed of His Jewishness is about to go to the publisher and will begin to ship out on July1st.  Pre-orders can get a 20% off discount here.  Once we know how Yeshua was stripped of His Jewishness, then we can begin to see Him as He truly is.

Speaking of Israeli Ministries who are writing, Eitan Shishkoff of Tents of Mercy asked for intercession for his writing process going on this summer.  He says it is the most ambitious writing project he has ever tackled but he is determined to devote abundant time to finish “honest, clear, biblical answers” to questions about the Jewish people and their need for Yeshua, as well as Israel’s role today in the plan of God. 

Others who are writing are Arni Klein, Uzi Lotan and Orna Greenman.  Pray for all of these ministries that God has stirred with a vision to share the things He has imparted to them.  For most of these, this is the first book they have written even though God has gifted them with unique voices in expressing ministry in writing.  Still, writing is like giving birth!  There’s lots of painful pushing going on until the ‘baby’ pops out and everyone is smiling again!  May the LORD give them “the pen of a ready writer.”

During a ministry trip to Brazil, Shishkoff spoke about “Visiting Israel, but knowing the Messianic Israelis.”  He gave this example: “If I came to your city and only visited the tourist sites, then went back to Israel and felt that I had experienced Rio and Brazil, but never visited or worshiped with my fellow believers there, could I say that I now know Brazil?”  A leader came to me afterward and said “I am so convicted of the way we have been coming to Israel without relating to our Messianic brothers. We will never again bring a group to Israel without spending meaningful time to build relationship with you and learn about Israel through your eyes.”

Pray for this conviction to spread to North America. And Europe. And Asia….worldwide.

Shishkoff gives a great report from the Passover teen camp, Katzir (Harvest) in the Negev Desert.  The focus this camp was “to connect deeply with God and to overcome areas of fear and limitation in their lives…. Please keep these young disciples in ongoing prayer that they will hold on to what they gained in the desert and continue to grow in faith.”

Tents of Mercy is considering the best use for a space the congregation has acquired that is equipped with a full industrial kitchen.  Pray that God will direct their path for the most fruitful use of this new tool for ministry. 

In the daughter congregation in Haifa, Shavei Tzion (Those Returning to Zion), leader Leon Mazin is asking for prayer over the purchase of their congregational property.  Even though nearly all the financing is in their possession, the exact right choice of property is the issue they need prayer for. One ideal location turned out to have issues – pray God would resolve those issues or lead them to the property that is truly ideal.

Avi Mizrachi and his ministry team are in Switzerland speaking and promoting the Dugit Ministry.  It takes outside help for all the ministries of Israel to do all that God has put in their hearts and vision for reaching Israelis.  This means the Church in the nations must come alongside.  It is an acknowledgment of the spiritual debt we owe:  “…they are their debtors. For if the Gentiles have been partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister to them in material things.”  Romans 15:27

When “the Gentiles” get this revelation, they rejoice to help reach the Israelis instead of grumble that they don’t owe the Jewish believers anything.  Just saying.

The Dugit team asks that we pray for a might harvest everywhere Avi speaks – that people will sign up to hear from and support Dugit Ministries.    They also ask prayer for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah for “wisdom, guidance, and discernment, strategy, a hedge of protection around him, his administration, and his plans. Angels guard him, and the lines around Israel! May the Lord bring confusion in the camp of the enemy! Psalm 34”

David Silver passes on a summary of “A major Israel TV station on Sunday night broadcast a detailed report on how Israel will go about attacking Iran's nuclear facilities in the event that diplomacy and sanctions fail and Israel decides to carry out a military strike.”  You can read his full summary report inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Silver concludes with this: “The right action to take with belligerent and soon to be nuclear Iran is an extremely tough call to make - I would not want to be in Prime Minister Netanyahu's position right now. Please keep him & Israel's military leads in your prayers every day until there is a resolution…. Lets also pray for breakthrough to the Muslims, and please remember to pray for all of the soldiers in the IDF - they are defending and fighting for the soon coming Kingdom of God.”

Please remember that next month Jack Teitel is scheduled to appear in court and according to a press leak, will plead guilty to the murders of two Palestinian Arabs – but in the plea agreement, the charges against him for terror bombing Ami Ortiz are to be dropped.  This would be the greatest injustice and might even allow for Teitel’s attorneys to argue anew that Teitel was mentally imbalanced by the trauma inherent in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.  Only the terror bombing charges against the Messianic Jewish family which Teitel did not act alone in and also admitted working with Yad L’Achim are proof that Teitel was not insane.  Conspiracy is hard for a mentally incapacitated person to pull off.  Pray that God would move on the Israeli Judicial system to reject a plea bargain that skirts justice and leaves the Messianic community wide open to future assassination attempts.

Urgent Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Pray for God’s complete healing of 70 Yr old Israeli/Christian believer Lorraine is in intensive care Hadassah Hospital Jerusalem;  Meir, Bob, Fruma and Katya and Rivka (an elderly member suffering severe back problems)  at Maoz Ministries, Sofie Benson in Carmel/House of Victory, Ariela in Arad and Brookie in the Galilee.  Tom, Nataly and Larissa who have all recently been diagnosed with cancer in Carmel.  Pray also for Kay Wilson suffering from PTSD after surviving a stabbing terrorism attack that her friend did not survive.

Update on baby Netaley:  Beautiful Netaley is now eating solids: pear, cookies, pureed veggies, and hopefully today some chicken. She's can sit well, with help from us as well as a body corset. She's holding her head well. But the best thing is (for mummy) that she slept really well last night!! Even with all the noise of sharing a room with 2 other small children who like to giggle really loudly while getting ready for bed.  I am grateful for the simple yet beautiful things: children running and playing in the park. Families together. Sun and flowers. Friends. love you all, Caren & Klass Bakker

Sundown Wednesday April 18

Six million Jews, among them 1.5 million children, were murdered in the Holocaust while the world remained silent.  Holocaust Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah in Hebrew) is a national day of commemoration in Israel, on which the six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust are memorialized. It is a solemn day, beginning at sunset on the 27th of the month of Nisan (April 18, 2012) and ending the following evening, according to the traditional Jewish custom of marking a day. Places of entertainment are closed and memorial ceremonies are held throughout the country.  The following morning, the ceremony at Yad Vashem begins with the sounding of a siren for two minutes throughout the entire country. For the duration of the sounding, work is halted, people walking in the streets stop, cars pull off to the side of the road and everybody stands at silent attention in reverence to the victims of the Holocaust.

As one of our friends in Israel included in prayer requests for this day of remembering those lost in the “Sho’ah” – the “catastrophe” – “Holocaust”,

Please pray:
*For the estimated 200,000 elderly Holocaust survivors living in Israel today. Because of what they have experienced and seen, these are often bound by the Accuser in a hardened, cynical world of darkness. Pray that the true Light which pierces the deepest darkness (John 1:5,9) will shine into their hearts-drawing them in Love to a life in which they have long since ceased to believe.

*For a breaking in Israel of any 'identity' related to the extent of our persecution in the past. Pray that, while learning what we can from the past, we will begin to focus more on the future and what God's Word tells us about it.

But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, They shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast. Instead of your shame you shall have double, And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs. . . .For as the earth brings forth its bud, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, So the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth {within Israel} before {the eyes of} all the nations.  Isaiah 61:6-7, 11

Howard Bass reports on the Australian team of intercessors who came to pray for breakthrough for the believers in the Negev, cities and for the borders with Egypt, Gaza, the Palestinian Authority and Jordan.  He wrote, “Over the three days of ministry, there was much teaching and proclamation from the Word of God concerning His purposes for us living here, and that He would BREAK THROUGH to accomplish what it is that He wants for now.  There was a sense of authority being exercised, which has been given to us, as we stood on the promises of God in this place for the times in which we are living.

“….During and following the Christ at the Checkpoint conference last month, I also felt that it has brought the Body of Messiah/Christ in Israel to a place where the Holy Spirit must move to bring the Lord's own past the checkpoint, the hindrance, which is keeping the believers entrenched,” Bass continued.

Please be in prayer for the whole Body of Messiah in Israel for the many whose collective wounds as a people often hinders the future that Yeshua desires to lead us into.  We are meant to be healed to the uttermost –  Lev 22:22-23  ''Those that are blind or broken or maimed, or have an ulcer or eczema or scabs, you shall not offer to the LORD....You shall not offer to the LORD what is bruised or crushed, or torn or cut; nor shall you make any offering of them in your land."

Ron at Messiah’s Mandate is rejoicing over another of his family that has come to the LORD in the United States.  As he wrote, “For the past 28 years I have had only one relative who has received Yeshua.”  Pray with Ron and for all the other Messianic Jews whose families have yet to receive Yeshua. Pray that the veil over their hearts will be removed that they might see Yeshua.

In the Tel Aviv congregation that Ron is part of, the Tiferet Yeshua congregation led by Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram, once a month the service is given over to a “Next Generation Shabbat” with the young people leading worship and sharing the Word with the congregation.  These services are designed to allow the ministry gifts of the next generation to begin to take flight and Cantor reports that is what is happening.  Pray for these young ministers will grow in grace and anointing with a love of God and His people.

The congregation will soon be starting a young adults ministry which Ron and Elana Cantor will be leading.  They ask for God to provide the right assistant leaders, a place to meet and an anointed worship leader. 

In the Negev, Eduardo Silveira are continuing to look to new ways to minister in outreach to their communities.  The ministry has gone through major changes which saw a huge portion of their ministry support cut, but the Silveira’s have been open to new avenues for sharing the gospel – like the new prison ministry they have begun.  Also bus tours around Jerusalem on the theme of exploring the three religions of the city.  Eduardo writes, “This gave us the freedom to openly talk about Jesus without problems.” 

Pray that the LORD would answer the needs of the Silveira family, “Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.”  That there would be funding loosed for meeting the needs as well as the ministry vision.  Pray also for Eduardo’s father in South America who has been sent home by doctors to die.  Joseph needs a miracle from God in his life.

Next month they will be conducting their third annual women’s conference on May 18.  About 110 women gather to hear the voice of God and fellowship with each other.  Please pray that God will guide the team organizing this event to do everything according to God's plan. Also, pray that He will provide everything we need to accomplish this.  You can donate to this event which we always hear good reports about.

Although she had lots of motivation to go back to work, she is still very weak, and needs more time to recover. Sadly, the National Insurance has already stopped their support, so she is stuck. We do not like to ask for donations, but this time it is very needed. Please, If it is on your heart to donate, please help. Update on Tom in Carmel: It is the start of our third week here in Jerusalem, the City of the Great King. We are happy to report that Tom is responding very well to the natural cancer treatment given by Dr David. He is getting infusions of vitamins B, C, E and K1, various minerals, plus other therapies that seem too complicated to explain.

The doctor is a Messianic Jewish believer from Germany, who made Aliyah (immigrated to Israel) eleven months ago. He said he will not only treat Tom's symptom (the cancer), but will get rid of its cause so it won't come back. He expects the length of the treatment to last approximately three months.

During the first two weeks we were in Jerusalem, we had many divine appointments, including the leading of a Israeli Jewish woman to the Lord! The Lord has made it very clear that He wants us in Jerusalem at this time.

As the treatment that Tom receives is daily, except on weekends, we have had to find suitable, low-cost accommodation. Father provided a flat for part of the time in a prayer house in the same street where the clinic is located! We will also be taking care of a flat owned by an American couple while they are in the U.S. We continually thank the Lord for His goodness.  We also want to thank you for your prayers. We encourage you to continue to pray for us. We are also very grateful for the financial support that is being given to cover the costs of Tom's treatment.

CHRIST AT THE CHECKPOINT: OBSTACLE OR OPPORTUNITY?

The 2012 “Christ at the Checkpoint” conference held in Bethlehem in March attracted considerable controversy and was even prejudged before it began. As Christians who support Israel but also want to build bridges between our brothers on both sides of the Israeli checkpoint, we were keen to learn firsthand what was being said.

The conference was organised by the Bethlehem Bible College to highlight the difficulties of the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza from a Christian perspective. It was attended by over 600 local and international Christians and was a follow up to the first conference in 2010.

This week Israeli ministries are coming to the end of Passover week, which has meant not only special services, meals and family time but also MANY visitors from abroad.  Most are engaged in non-stop activities during this time.  Pray for God’s grace and anointing to be on all the leaders of congregations and within congregations, of the heads of families and the ministries doing outreach into the communities.  Pray that Abba would reveal the identity of His Son to many in this season, and that seeds planted in love would begin to sprout and beat much fruit.

" I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication; and they will look toward Me whom they have pierced."  Zechariah 12:10

For those of you who are hungry to learn about Passover from the Messianic Jewish perspective, we have in the attached Weekly Summary several articles, prayer letters and even links to eight video teachings on the 8 Days of Passover by Ron Cantor of Messiah’s Mandate/Maoz Ministries.

There is an excellent teaching from one of the leaders at Tents of Mercy in the Haifa region that leads us through the progression of the history of the nation of Israel as it is reflected in 12 specific mentions of Passover in the OT/NT scripture.  This is great fodder for further study and you can access the full article by Moshe Morrison in the Weekly Summary. 

From the Love of Yeshua congregation, Eddie Santoro writes of the faithfulness of God in Passovers observed by the Jewish people for thousands of years.  He ends with a prayer that this year, May we be “set free from every bondage and may the power of the resurrection of Yeshua, the Lamb of God work his victory in your life.”  Amen.

In the Negev Desert, Howard Bass of Yeshua’s Inheritance congregation is playing host to a large group of intercessors from Australia who have come specifically to pray for all the believers of the Negev, as well as their cities and for the borders with Egypt, Gaza, the Palestinian Authority and Jordan.  Arni and Yonit Klein of Emmaus Way in the Judean Hills will be coming down in support of intercession for the Negev area which has been such a target of terror from missiles launched out of Gaza.  God bless those from the nations and from other parts of Israel who come into unity to speaking blessing and protection over all the believers of the Negev.  You can pray with this group as it begins to meet on the last evening and day of Passover and into the Shabbat weekend.

Ye’shi of the humanitarian organizations Hands of Mercy & Tents of Victory contrasts the beauty of Israel at this time of year and the joy of the Passover holiday, with the grim realities Israel faces from the surrounding Islamic regimes intent on destroying the Jewish presence in the Middle East.  He expresses thanksgiving for “massive Miracle Containers of food are being sent by generous believers in America and Australia for us to give the rapidly growing, poverty stricken people throughout Israel.”

In Netanya, Chosen People minister Brian Slater continues to serve the needy community with soup kitchens and distribution centers.  They are just opening a new outreach where they will be receiving 100 new people in need including 50 from Ethiopian Jewish immigrants.  Slater welcomes volunteers who are visiting Israel to come in help. 

Asher Intrater of Revive Israel and the Love of Yeshua congregation shares that Israel is currently responding to 4 primary threats: the nuclear threat; building protection against missiles, the cyber threat against Israeli infrastructure and all the borders.  These are 4 solid prayer targets for intercessors and you can learn more inside the Weekly Summary.

Israelprayer received a few notices of the death of a brother in Israel that we have never heard of before, but who obviously had a deep impact on many.  Ari Ben at Revive Israel writes in Memoriam of Michael Cohen who was an Anglican priest who discovered the Jewish roots of his spiritual and natural family.  Michael spent much of his time in Israel “teaching at Succat Hallel, greeting at the doors of Ahavat Yeshua, and serving on the boards of Makor Hatikvah and Revive Israel.  He was also a mentor and spiritual father for many of the young adults of the community.  He will be sorely missed.”  Michael Cohen, passed away this week, after collapsing at the Jaffa Gate of the Old City in Jerusalem.

Urgent Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs: 

70 Yr old Israeli/Christian believer Lorraine is in intensive care Hadassah Hospital Jerusalem on Passover with multiple Blood clots on lungs, legs, all over that need to dissolve and multiple complications. Lorraine has served Yeshua for 14 years in Jerusalem but needs to travel back to her family in the U.S. soon. She needs a miracle healing to recover and be restored to mobility.

Pray for God’s complete healing of Meir, Bob, Fruma and Katya and Rivka (an elderly member suffering severe back problems)  at Maoz Ministries, Sofie Benson in Carmel/House of Victory, Ariela in Arad and Brookie in the Galilee.  Tom, Nataly and Larissa who have all recently been diagnosed with cancer in Carmel.  Pray also for Kay Wilson suffering from PTSD after surviving a stabbing terrorism attack that her friend did not survive.

Update on Ariela in Arad: Dear all who are concerned about Ariela, Ariela is not feeling well. Although she had lots of motivation to go back to work, she is still very weak, and needs more time to recover. Sadly, the National Insurance has already stopped their support, so she is stuck. We do not like to ask for donations, but this time it is very needed. Please, If it is on your heart to donate, please help. Praying the Headlines

A Caspari Media Review report on the local Hebrew-language coverage of the arrest of an infamous Yad L’Achim activist, Benjamin Kluger, in connection to the “Price Tag” vandalism attacks on the Jerusalem Baptist Congregation.   It is important to note that I did a search in all three online major Israeli newspapers in English for the report of Kluger – using the various ways I’ve seen his name spelled – with no resulting news articles. 

From the local papers, however Kluger is quoted as saying, "The background to the arrest derives from a basic lack of awareness on the part of the police about the nature of the organization I work for and a complete lack of knowledge about me personally, as well as a fundamental ignorance about the sects and the psychotic conditions which accompany them….The members of many sects in general and Messianic Jews in particular suffer from paranoia and have a tendency to think that they are being persecuted by Satanic forces. Systematically, and for financial reasons, the sect leaders brainwash their members to believe that Yad L'Achim is a terror organization. In the past, a pastor from Rishon L'Zion even composed a prayer in which Yad L'Achim was represented as the agent of Satan. ... In contrast to many missionaries, I'm not a criminal but a law-abiding citizen.”

Barry & Batya Segal’s Jerusalem News Network reports that Iran and the Hezbollah terrorist organization have significantly stepped up support for embattled Syrian President Bashar Assad.  Not only are the Arab Middle Eastern nations falling to fundamentalist forces, but the balance of power between Sunni and Shia Islam is at stake.  These are very difficult developments to follow without understanding all the forces in play. 

The Segals are also appealing for donations “to help us prepare for Israel’s inevitable war.”  This is one statement that there seems to be universal agreement with in the Israeli Messianic leadership and most, if not all, are preparing storehouses of supply to meet the needs of their congregations and communities in the face of extremely threatening times on all sides.  Each week we are trying to highlight various ministries deserving of your contributions to give these ministries the ability to reach out in the Name of Yeshua when the crisis is upon the people of Israel.

Often times people ask me how many are we reaching with this mailing and I say, I have no idea because it goes to many prayer leaders who circulate it to their own communities.  A few days ago an email from a subscriber in Holland sent us a note that is a perfect example of that.  Weirt D. has a weekly prayer for Israel program in Dutch on an internet radio program.  Wiert wrote:

Since the beginning of this year we have a internet radio station called RadioIsrael.nl  Every week on Tuesday morning I have a Prayer program that is one hour of live prayer. I give information about a Prayer Point/Request and after that people can pray about it for three minutes, and then I play soft music. We do almost 12 prayer points every week.  We just started and every week new people join in. We have now more than 100 people that pray. People like it because it is in line with what Jesus says in Matthew 18;19 I promise that when any two of you on earth agree about something you are praying for, my Father in heaven will do it for you.  I am glad to be on your list...you are a great blessing for us here in Holland!  Thank you and God bless you with your work.

Israelprayer is so glad that it these how the weekly Arrows are multiplying the prayers for the believers in the Land.  That is what it is all about!

Priority Prayer Focus

"Your watchmen shall lift up their voices, With their voices they shall sing together; For they shall see eye to eye When the LORD brings back Zion." Isaiah 52:8  Don't you long for this? Especially the part about the watchmen seeing "eye to eye"? Good people, solid believers but by no stretch of the imagination do we see “eye to eye.” 

This year as the believers in Yeshua/Jesus gather to celebrate either Passover and Easter, the central point is the Lord, whose sacrificial death is the point of both of these religious holidays.  Pray for the Jewish people who will have the opportunity to see Yeshua  hidden as He is in the Passover, as well as for your own relatives whose thoughts may not rest on the Lord except on Easter.  Pray that this would also be their own spiritual resurrection day.

Act 2:36-39  "Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah."  Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?"

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Messiah Yeshua for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.  "For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Passover begins at sundown this Friday, April 6^th.  In Israel across the Land Jews will gather in their families to observe one of 3 specifically appointed times the Jews were to appear before their God in Jerusalem.  This speaks of how God would deal with the Jewish people in prophetic symbolism of Passover, the Feast of Weeks and the Feast of Tabernacles (or, Ingathering).  Yeshua is hidden in these Feasts – although revealed to the many Messianic Jews who may celebrate Passover with understanding of the fuller purposes of God in them. 

Pray for all those family members, friends, neighbors and others in the communities who will be touched by the prophetic pictures of Messiah in the Passover Seders celebrated by the Messianic Jews of Israel.  Let them see Yeshua and being pricked in their hearts cry out, “Brothers, what must we do?”

David Davis of the HaCarmel Congregation shares an article from one of the Hebrew-language newspapers that reports the last words of famed Israeli General Moshe Dayan on his deathbed in 1981: “All my life,” the dying general said, “it seems that someone has been following me; and that someone was the Nazarene.”  Apparently Jesus of Nazareth significantly occupied Dayan’s thoughts during his lifetime. 

“We know there are many Jewish people like him,” writes David, “who have heard about Yeshua and continue to wonder about Him, some even secretly believing in Him.  Let’s be encouraged to stand in prayer that many Jews will see with unveiled faces their Messiah who has been following them for 2000 years.”

Davis also notes that Spring is literally bursting forth in Israel with masses of color from the unusual and abundant rainfall God granted this year.  He asks for our prayers that God would also pour out the spiritual rain upon Israel which we can enter into with hearty agreement.

Pray also for all the outreaches to Israelis that are conducted in several languages from Hebrew to Russian, Spanish and many other languages of the Jews who have been brought back into the Land just as promised by God.

“This Passover is Your Deliverance”

Mazal Tov to the Shishkoff’s who first grandchild just had his bar mitzvah last weekend.  This marks a third generation of Israeli Messianic Shishkoff’s – “a living testimony that Yeshua's Jewish followers have not converted to another religion, but rather have found in Messiah the true key to knowing and serving the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob…. we are declaring that our dedication to the Hebrew Scriptures, to the God of Israel and to our people, Israel are a non-negotiable foundation.”

The Katzir (Harvest) youth ministry has been going on over the past four days.  Some 80-90 teenagers from all over Israel participated with a staff of 25 young adult counselors and three adult advisory couples.  Before the gathering there were still scholarship funds needed, so if you can help, please open the attached Weekly Summary and see the Shishkoff/Tents of Mercy prayer letter for details.

The Jerusalem Institute of Justice is the only human rights organization in Israel that is pro-Israel, but that does not mean it turns a blind eye to Palestinian human rights issues.  In March, JIJ attorney Calev Myers addressed the European Parliament in Brussels presenting a 35-page report compiled by the institute on the status of human rights in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which attributes countless human rights violations and gross abuses of fundamental freedoms to the Palestinian Authority (PA) and Hamas governments.

“In order for any organization to carry out human rights reforms in any society, it must first identify the true source of human rights abuses,” Myers stated in his speech before the European Parliament. “By ignoring the true perpetrators of human rights abuses towards the Palestinians, we are actually empowering the abusers, by giving them a free ticket to instigate terror and intimidation without any concern for recourse.”

Pray for the attorneys of the Jerusalem Institute of Justice who are raising up a Yeshua-like voice for those who have little or no voice of their own in their communities.  JIJ also represents a great many of the cases brought by Messianic believers in Israel in freedom of religion issues.

The Hydes are creating a linen banner with the names of the prodigals we are asking God to return to the faith.  If you have a prodigal you are praying for, you can send their name to be added (see inside the attached Weekly Summary).  Father, soften the hearts of these YOUR children who have wandered away, squandered their inheritance in Yeshua.  Come back, come back in Yeshua’s Name.

Pray for the Messianic IDF believers who have been assigned to border areas.  There is a special focus placed on all the borders of Israel for strengthening and protection.  Those are also areas where soldiers are targeted for kidnapping and other dangerous situations.  Pray for these soldiers, as well as surrounding the holidays – which the enemy likes to stir up evil plots to carry out during those times.

Pray for the Messianic school in Acco which is in vision stage but has attracted the eyes of those who may be able to help vision be turned to building.  Thank God for those who are searching the land of Israel for those with visions that Yeshua has given to build up and increase the Body of Messiah in Israel.

Last weekend an international call went out to rush the borders of Israel which would force the IDF to respond and no doubt create more bad public relations for Israel.  Thanks to the concerted prayers of the believers in Israel and elsewhere, the event was mostly a dud.  Thank God!  In Jerusalem, 6-7 of the congregations met for an evening of joint prayer and praise on the eve of this "Global Million Man March to Jerusalem." 

Asher Intrater writes, “The very fact that multiple congregations in Jerusalem can come together on short notice for joint and united prayer is a sign of great spiritual victory. As we stand united in love and faith, the forces of evil will be divided and fall (Luke 11:17).”  In unity – when the watchmen are “eye to eye” – there is great power released in will of the LORD.

Eddie Santoro, who led the Jerusalem spiritual warfare with Zvi Randelman, wrote in answer to those who called for the demonstrations accusing Israel of ethnic cleansing and being an apartheid state.  You can read his article inside the attached Weekly Summary (See Santoro/Zion’s Glory Ministry).

Spring and Summer are times when there is much going in and going out of Christians visiting Israel and Israeli ministries visiting many places throughout the world.   Pray according to Psalm 121:8 The LORD keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.  Pray for Divine connections to be made and for needs to be met.  Pray for areas that have never been fruitful in the past to break forth in abundant fruit now!

 Pray for the families and congregations who will be staying on in the land to be protected and blessed while these essential outreaches are taking place.  It is a very busy time with holidays, travel, visitors. Pray for grace to meet every need.

Update on baby Netaley Bakker:  There is a Facebook group called Prayer for Netaley and on it today is a post that Netaley is being released from the hospital.  She will be going into a rehab situation next, but her parents are praising God for being able to take her home so quickly.

Update on Tom at Carmel:  We have been seeking the Lord's guidance on where to go for Tom's melanoma cancer treatment, as he is not willing to go down the road of surgery, chemo and radiation. ...as the recent PET scan results show that the cancer has remained localized in his lymph nodes. So we have kept praying for His guidance....friends from Iowa, U.S.A. came a couple of weeks ago to Israel....they became friendly with a tour guide, who himself had cancer and was being treated by an oncologist who practices alternative medicine in Jerusalem. In addition, he was also a Jewish Messianic believer....we went to Jerusalem last Wednesday and had an appointment with him at his clinic. We felt that this was a God-appointed encounter. As a result, Tom will be treated in his clinic over a period of three months. Although the treatment is expensive and not covered by our health insurance, the good doctor is giving us a discount. Thank you again to all of you who have given, and have blessed us. May you be rewarded!  Please keep praying, and together we trust our Lord to restore

Carolyn Hyde update:  Carolyn finally got the test results of the strokes she experienced a few months ago. There were no traces of damage at all and the doctors are scratching their heads in wonder!
