"WE NEED YOU"

This was the subject line of one of the ministry/prayer email letters received this week but it could have been on the subject line of EVERY ministry prayer letter we receive from the Body of Messiah in Israel. The simple fact is that the destiny that God has placed on this group of believers in the Land of Israel is so significant that they cannot possibly do it by themselves. The spiritual warfare against "all Israel shall be saved" is intense because the fulfillment of that mandate is so significant - far beyond just the borders of Israel.  As salvation increases in Israel, so is "life from the dead" increasing in other nations in the world - like Muslim nations, bound by a demonic-inspired religion that has become the major threat to the whole world before our eyes in the past several decades. 

Do you get the opening paragraph of this Weekly Summary?  Then the proverbial 'Macedonian Call' of "We need you" is addressed to you. It is not a call to those who cannot see what difference it makes that the nation of Israel is receiving Yeshua today, but a call to those who know and want to be a part of what God is doing in Israel for the benefit of all the nations.

We are receiving an increase in reports of spiritual warfare against the disciples of Yeshua in Israel. This manifests in many ways from illnesses to accidents and increasing outright persecution. We are talking about a people who have set themselves to suffer for the sake of the LORD's work as required, but that does not mean the prayers of the saints are not needed or welcomed. Please pray along with us for the Body in Israel. Take your place in the Heavenly reward for their spiritual labors.

Delighted to include an update from David and Leah Ortiz of the Ariel Fellowship, whose son was badly injured in a religious terrorist bombing in their home in 2008. David and Leah have sent an update after two years of 'radio silence' and we are so glad to hear from them and to catch up on Ami, the rest of the family and their continuing ministry in northeast Israel. If you don't know about what happened to this Messianic family in 2008, you really should go the website that was setup to tell the story. You need to know how serious the persecution has gotten in the past. Religious persecution in Israel increases and decreases; currently spiritual warfare is rising. ..persecution will not be far behind.

From the beginning, these parents who were brokenhearted as it looked like their 15 year old son would not survive the first 24 hours after the bomb blew up in his hands, have also been broken before the LORD with their lives. They have been a mighty witness to so many in Israel as they walked out the aftermath of the religious hatred of their faith in Messiah Yeshua. Leah writes about that aftermath saying, "The prayer that continually went up for our family over the  following three years is one of the most vital parts of the testimony and we are forever grateful for each one that prayed for Ami and our family.  The Lord has answered those prayers in many amazing ways, and our family has come through and continues to battle through to victory by the grace of God."

Among the news they share is the wonderfully encouraging report of "an unprecedented number of women" coming to the Lord in Palestinian controlled areas. Leah writes, "They continue to face impossible challenges in their lives as believers in the areas under Palestinian control, but continue to grow in the faith and to share with others."

Back in 2000, the year before I started the Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries, David and Leah Ortiz were the first Israeli ministry I came into contact with.  It was impressive to me that they not only ministered to Jews, but also to Palestinians...which they continue to this day.

The second prayer request we have to share comes from Eddie Santoro of the Love of Yeshua congregation. As you know, Eddie has been on our prayer list the past year as he was diagnosed with a deadly brain cancer. Today the report is that Eddie's brain is cancer free - BUT a new and different cancer has attacked his tonsil and he is headed back to 7 weeks of radiation treatment which doctors assure him has a high success rate in treatment.  Listen, we have won the tougher battle with the brain cancer - now let our prayer arise for all cancer in Eddie's body to be put to death, not to EVER rise again to trouble him.

Eddie writes, "We are so keenly aware of the depth of the spiritual warfare that is surrounding us and that it is increasing in intensity in these days. We also know that after all is said and done, the battle is the Lord's and that we are more than conquerors in Him. While on this subject, I want to pass along the Facebook report of Ruth Nessim's son that the results of her final PET scan showed that there is no trace of Lymphoma in his mom. Shmulik was posting from Italy where he apparently took his mom to celebrate the good news.

From the Harvest of Asher in Akko, Guy Cohen writes with an encouraging word of dwelling in the Presence of God. In their prayer requests a pending situation with the city of Acco regarding property taxes on their building; their ongoing help of 125 children in Acco through the welfare department and requests for people and programs in their congregation - read inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary. Please keep Guy and Tali and the children in your prayers over the next couple of months. Many changes are happening in their lives.  And also pray for the Carmiel congregation that is meeting in the Harvest Of Asher building until their new facility is complete.

Israel Pochtar shares an update on his family members as Israel writes, "As a father and a husband, I know my God-given responsibility towards my family and their wellbeing first and foremost." It is good to have our priorities in order, so God may bless us in all we do. Israel writes, "We're very excited about what God has prepared for this new congregation!  Please pray for the power of the Holy Spirit, for evangelism in the city of Rishon Le-Zion, for the new pastors Igor & Nathalie, as well as for finances and provision this congregation needs. Prayfully consider supporting this new congregation as it is taking its first steps and building the Kingdom of God in the Land of Israel."

Did you know that KehilaNewsIsrael is on Facebook? See one of the recent FB posts - an article by Mirian Abramov, The Voice of the (Chosen) People Has Spoken. Backlash against the hundreds of ultra-Orthodox protesting against believers in Rishon LeZion.  From the KehilaNews email Messianic IDF Soldier Recognized by Major Israeli News Portal for Israel Advocacy. That's the way it is - the religious persecute, and the secular respond with interest and even praise.

From Arad, we get a great overview report with how the Hebrew congregation there are sowing seeds of the good news in many places. Read about it inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

They also send prayer requests on behalf of Polly, who needs a new location for her Ark of the Negev ministry, and also prayers for a surgery she needs on her lung (a tumor from an old injury to her spine). Finally, from the Peniel Fellowship (Face of God) in Tiberias, praise the LORD for protecting pastor Daniel who was plowed into by a car at full speed as he was in the middle of an intersection. This is a thriving congregation in the Galilee, with strong family oriented ministry. Naturally their news and prayer requests are for the summer season when so many camps and activities for believing children and youth are in full swing.  Also, they are focusing on new home groups they have formed on the Golan Heights and in the city. Lastly, they ask prayers for the progress concerning a larger home for the growing fellowship. They write, "The Lord has opened some new doors for us. So far we have been able to collect in our building fund some 60% of what is needed to complete this project. We need your continued prayers for wisdom, protection and for the missing resources to come in. We invite you to partner with us in this exciting opportunity of investing in the building of God's kingdom in Israel."

Continuing, "We want to encourage you to continue and pray for the salvation of God's nation. We see a growing openness among people, but still they need the veil to be lifted away from their eyes. Not long ago there was a golden opportunity to share with a group of about twenty young people, who wanted to hear about Messianic Jews, who we are, what we believe etc. They contacted us and asked to have an appointment so they could come and hear about what we believe. They spent an hour listening, and at the end they were very thankful and said it was very interesting. . . . Please pray for these seeds that have been sown, that the Holy Spirit would water them and speak to their hearts and open their spiritual eyes to the truth, so they can overcome the obstacle of fear and ask their own Messiah to enter into their hearts & lives."

For more details on the prayer reports and requests shared here, we encourage that you open and read the attached Weekly Summary.  Over the years I have heard from people who indicated that there was so much information, they had a hard time reading it all.  That is why I want to suggest that you print out a copy - of the Arrows from Zion and/or the Weekly Summary and put it in a place where you normally go to relax.  You could enjoying these reports while taking a nice soak in the bathtub, for instance.  Print out a copy and learn about your brothers and sisters in the LORD in Israel. Their experience is a lot like yours... only very likely much more intense.

Getting Perspective

Luther, the Pope and the Jewish Aspect | by Orna Grinman | A week ago I was in Wittenberg, Germany. I joined a conference which I found to be absolutely intriguing. Nearly 499 years ago, Martin Luther set out from this picturesque town on what in time will be known as the Reformation. Next October will mark 500 years to the event, and this conference was a part of the preparation towards this event. . . .The conference focused on repentance for the initial split from the Catholic church, a split which led to countless more afterwards. There were key figures from the Catholic, Lutheran and Protestant churches. Nuns, together with European royalty, all agreed to do something (as symbolic as it may be) regarding the initial split.

[Judensau at Wittenberg] . . . .On one of the walls of the church Luther preached from is found an obscene embossment showing a sow, with her piglets suckling. Among them there is a Jew nursing on her as well. Behind her stands a Rabbi, lifting the sow′s tail sand digging inside her. Underneath he is attempting to read a page from the Gmara. The message: This is your origin, Jews! Above it reads an inscription: “Rabini Shem hamphoras,” gibberish which presumably is a word play on the explicit name of God.

. . . .I was emotionally numb at that point. I did not expect the Jewish point to become so prominent in a conference that was meant to focus on Lutherans and Catholics. The truth is I wasn’t even sure I should be there, but something struck my curiosity when I first heard about it. It made me wonder if down the road, the repentance will not stop only at the division from Rome, but will go further to the original division from Jerusalem. With the widowhood of Israel capturing my heart in such intensity, I wanted to be there and taste what real reconciliation feels and tastes like. And it was real.  Read in full

Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem writes about the terror attack that took place in a busy Tel Aviv market, Sarona that was stopped by a quick acting Israeli police officer firing on the terrorists. The world media coverage was disgraceful with CNN even putting quotation marks around "terrorists" in their headlines, "Two 'terrorists' captured". 

What many in the world are seeking to do is to find excuses for not acknowledging the reality that Islamic terrorism against Israel is just as unjust as Islamic terrorism against all the nations afflicted by attacks. Some are so committed to denying this truth, they search high and low for excuses for Islamic terrorists in an attempt to defend the indefensible and painting a terrorist profile that takes the motivations for their act off of the simple truth of Islamist supremacist ideology. There is no simple right and wrong acceptable to the nations that seek to diminish the Islam factor out of terrorist attacks in Israel or the nations.

Even in the mass attack in Orlando, Florida which overshadowed the Sarona/Tel Aviv terror attack, forces went to work right away to diminish the Islamist factor in the attack. Why? If their suppostion is that Islamist terror against Israel is really justified, then Islamic terror attacks in the nations must be explained away lest people in the nations realize what is unjust attacks against them is also unjust attacks against Israel. It is that plain and simple, that right and wrong. Please pray that the people in the nations would awaken to the truth, and throw off the lies that have been accepted in explaining Islamic terrorism against Israel...and now their own nations.  Read Martin's perspective and get his prayer points in full inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Ronit Bender in Carmel also writes about the terror attacks in Tel Aviv as she and the Benson's (House of Victory) were in the Sarona Market just 48 hours before the attack.  She writes, "Living in Israel is truly far removed from the romantic notions of many believers in Yeshua. . . . After 5 weeks, she is back home and resuming her ministries including outreach to drug addicts and prostitutes in south Tel Aviv. Their team ministry travels weekly from Haifa.

Shani Ferguson asks and answers some common questions in her new article, Discovering Hebrew Roots. "If you're a Christian, are you the New Israel? What does it mean to be Jewish? Is being a Messianic Jew an upgraded version of being Christian?"  Follow the link to read.

Also inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary they share about Kobi's two weeks in Peru sharing about Israel.  "It was a powerful time of awakening the hearts of Christians towards their Israeli brethren in the Lord. Many of the pastors shared how they never considered Israel as relevant to their own lives, but now realize Israel’s importance, because it is important to God."  This is just an application, but it reminds me of Isaiah 6:8: "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me." How will many Christians around the world know the significance of God raising up faith in Jesus within Israel if Israeli Messianic Jews do not go out to share that with them?

Howard Bass of the Yeshua's Inheritance congregation in Beer Sheva is fresh back from their ministry trip with Arab pastors Johnny and Marlene in Switzerland and Germany where they ministered about reconciliation. Howard writes, "I was also able to speak of Israel's salvation as a nation as being necessary for the blessings to the nations.  Oftentimes reconciliation is limited to individuals and people groups, but God's plan to save nations with Israel as the key, is left out."

Further, he writes: "As Israel becomes more of a religiously Jewish state in its orientation, it will also become less democratic, making it more restrictive on evangelical believers in Jesus.  Historic Judaism does not accept those who believe in "that man" any more than it accepts Him as being the Messiah.  God is working to take away this ungodliness from Jacob, so that "all Israel" will be saved.  We hear various reports of thousands of Muslims (Gentiles/non-Jews) being saved out of their darkness and brought into the kingdom of light.  ... May the new heart and God's Spirit in them cause them to provoke Israel to jealousy and to show mercy upon her.  PLEASE PRAY FOR MORE GENTILES TO BE SAVED, EVEN AS YOU PRAY AND WORK FOR THE SALVATION OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE."

On the Israel-front Howard writes: "Israel is, as usual, going through much internal political in-fighting. Some former defense ministers are denying that Iran is a serious threat to Israel, despite the Islamic religious and political jihad against the existence of the sovereign Jewish nation in the land promised by YHVH to the descendants of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.  This is like denying all of the Muslim links to the terrorism happening around the world."  For the full report from Howard, read inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

Tony and Orna Sperandeo lead the Hamaayan (Wellspring) congregation in Kfar Saba. Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua in Jerusalem writes about their joyous celebration of the 10th birthday of the congregation. You will love reading Santoro's remembrances about raising up this house of the Lord from only 15 people and through 4 different buildings before finally landing a permanent home shared with another ministry. Eddie writes, "Jerusalem is very hard ground for the Gospel and our hearts yearn to see more salvations. To this end, we are fervently encouraging the release of the gifts of the Spirit. Yeshua healed the multitudes who came to Him and signs and wonders demonstrated the powerful presence of God and many were drawn to him. The same is true for today and we long to see those same wonders manifest in our congregation in the heart of Jerusalem. Sally Shiff, who is the liaison and lead intercessor for the Sperandeo's Kfar Saba congregation, files her personal ministry letter about her recent first trip to Auschwitz, Krakow and the Warsaw Ghetto. If you don't know much about the history, or if you don't know much about the Jewish feelings about visiting these places, I encourage you to read Sally's account. One thing she writes, "Why did I have to go to Auschwitz?  For me, I had to face my greatest fear face to face. Carolyn and Richard Hyde of Heart of God Ministries in Poriya Ilit are feeling pretty proud, not only of their son Ariel's outreach videos that are touching Israelis on the street, but also their brand new 7th grandchild born in Israel. Mazal tov, Hyde family! Carolyn writes, "Every summer we go out of Zion to minister in the nations and "go fishing" (encouraging Diaspora Jews to make Aliya) but this summer, the L-rd opened doors to worship on many ships on the Kineret (Sea of Galilee), at events for Holocaust survivors, for patients in hospitals, at festivals and more.  Sharing the Good News also skyrocketed and our "slow season" became the most fruitful season we've ever had in the Land! The Israel's Restoration Prayer List of Tikkun Int'l had a few thing from the Tikkun network that we have not already run in Israelprayer/Arrows from Zion including an update on the Operation Four Winds Tour with Eitan Shishkoff, Paul Wilbur, Dean Bye, and Marty Shoub and has now kicked off in the United States. Avi writes, " Today we are going to see a new place for the Dugit Center.  I ask that you would pray that God would lead us to the right place and the right situation. We are a few weeks before our annual trip to the States for networking, vision casting, partner building (and a little rest and relaxation with family). I’ll be in Harrisburg, PA; Dallas, TX; The Los Angeles area, Kansas City, Louisiana, Denver, and possibly a few other locations. I’m looking forward to seeing some of you!

We have also announced this week the official opening of a scholarship fund designed to put six young Israeli believers through dental school. We see an important future for the Body of Messiah in the dental field in Israel and are leading the way towards preparing our youth to take part in it.

Our summer trips are expensive but ever so necessary for the building and maintaining of strategic relationships. Giving away scholarships to dental school isn’t cheap either as you might imagine. This month I want to challenge you to move from being a passive supporter of HaTikva Project to an active one. I returned to my childhood faith at the end of 1982; From the beginning I looked around the church and wondered out loud, 'This is great, but where are all the Jews?' My Bible was filled with Jews from beginning to end and it made no sense whatsoever to me that Jews were not enjoying the same great discovery I had just made: that God is not faraway and disinterested in our trials and tribulations in life.

Sometime during Yitshak Shamir's second term as prime minister of Israel after 1986, I began to pay attention to Israel in relation to my own faith. I knew instinctively that God was not done with Israel. In fact, when I was first reading the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit in 1983, I fell in love with the book of Isaiah because if God expressed such devotion to Israel after all of Israel's failings, it was a comfort and reassurance to me that He would be the same way towards me.

From the beginning of my awareness of the modern state of Israel's significance to my own faith, I could not escape paying attention to Islamic terrorism. As I have grown up in the faith of Yeshua, the understanding that Christians and Messianics are being brought into a "one new man" reality in Yeshua, I have also grown up in the understanding of Islamic terrorism.

I could never adequately explain why God drew me so strongly into seeking to understand Islamic terrorism, but I knew that it was God who focused my eyes to observe, study and report on Islamic terrorism.  For such a times as this, It has become a part of my faith to engage in this battle.  I believe it is a key arena of spiritual warfare that many more Christians will have to prepare themselves to enter into. The threat of Islamism can no longer be dismissed just Israel's problem; the enemy of God is YOUR enemy.

To understand how Jihad fits in to the end time scenario, I would like to recommend this excellent audio teaching by Asher Intrater at the 2009 IHOP-KC Israel Mandate Conference. It is called The Harlot and the Beast, or Jezebel & Jihad. It is a message I continually return to as more and more of this is manifesting.

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

We start this week with an article by Leon Mazin who leads the Return to Zion congregation in Haifa (Shavei Tzion is part of the Tikkun network of ministries in Israel).  In The essence of Shavuot, Mazin writes: " From the Book of Acts we find out that the followers of Yeshua remained faithful to the Lord and continued observing the holiday. This was actually the reason why they happened to be in Jerusalem during this time of the year. What happened within the following days, however, has been viewed differently by the Christian world. The standard teaching claims that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on this day, commonly known as Pentecost, has ushered in the era of the Church, leaving Israel’s glorious past behind."  Read more on line by clicking the linked title.

Mazin also writes about Revival of the Apostolic ministry in Israel |(Scroll down on linked page to read):  " Looking back in time when our elders, Dan Juster and Eitan Shishkoff, were talking about the rise of the apostolic generation from within Israel, I remember having reservations in regards to the scale of such developments. After all, Apostle is the title that carries weight in the spiritual realm. But praise be to God! By His grace, our small congregation (which consists of no more than 150 members) was able to bring the word of the Messiah to the distant lands. We have been privileged to share about the secrets of the letter to Ephesians as well as the rights of Jews to the Land of Israel with the Japanese and to teach about “the images of Yeshua in the Torah and in the temple sacrifices” in Finland. We believe that these are the first green shoots of the greater things that are yet to come. And even though it may appear as a far cry compared to the work performed by Paul, Barnabas and Apollos, it is very reminiscent of the great promise found in the Bible: “For out of Zion shall go the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem” (Isaiah 2:3)

Blessed to have re-connected with Brian Slater in Netanya of Abundant Bread of Salvation, which reaches out with humanitarian food supplies for the needy and Holocaust survivors. Brian is currently in the UK-England from June 15th-27th. He asks: "Pray for many divine appointments and a great impact of love towards our Jewish People and our ministry outreaches." They are now able to help "over 350 poor and needy people, single mothers, widows, Ethiopian and Russian Jewish immigrant families every month.  Over 50 of that number are Holocaust survivors that come to us and receive a bag of food with over 24 products in each bag, as well as lots of love and personal care. Sadly, many of them are dying every month.  Please help us reach them before it is too late." 

The ministry also  honors Holocaust survivors "Royalty Dinners" - an evening at a nice restaurant to show them how much they are valued. According to recent figures, one third of Israeli Holocaust survivors are living in poverty. Israel Pochtar of the Ashdod Beit Hallel and Voice of Judah network ministries send us two good reports: the first on their summer outreach to help supply the practical needs of new immigrants to Israel in their region. Find out how you can help inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary Also, Pochtar reports on their outreach over Shavuot when they took 350 non-believers to Jerusalem to celebrate the Feast. Following ministry time, more than 250 of the people stood to pray and 300 rushed forward for prayer for healing as the prayer teams came into place. Arni Klein of Emmaus Way in the Galilee writes that we have entered the days that when God gives us a correction about something in our lives, we must respond with immediacy. He writes, "One can look at the Israeli Messianic Body from outside…or from inside…and see cliques, cracks, walls, divisions, offences, situations, and a rather lengthy list of lacks and issues needing fixing. Perhaps because we are relatively few in the center of the world with nowhere to hide, every little glitch can take on a significance of monumental proportion. However, the truth is, beyond all that, we know that we are a body...a family…bound and knit together by something bigger than our unresolved issues.  Many might be surprised at how frequently, for a wide variety reasons, Israeli believers from around the country gather together.  It’s remarkable to have a strong point of disagreement with someone and yet still experience a very real love and true personal affinity. The Body in Israel is an amazing entity.  We have much reason to be encouraged…not withstanding our constant need for help and support." Also in the beginning of Dan's teaching he explains the new configuration of the Tikkun network.

A report from the Dugit ministry about the monthly city wide prayer meeting that Avi Mizrachi attended in Tel Aviv the night before the terror attack there at the Sarona resturant near the military headquarters.  They write that Avi shared, "the night before the attack we had our monthly city wide prayer meeting in the VIP prayer tower.  During the meeting, they felt a strong leading to focus on government, military, and police.  On his way home from the meeting, Avi heard about the attack. We count it as a MIRACLE that two terrorists armed with machine guns opened fire in a busy market and were only able to kill 4 and wound 7.  ...  Please lift up the victims and their families and all those affected.   Please continue to lift up the people of Israel, that God would thwart all terrorist attacks and would supernaturally assist all military and police forces."

Also, the Mizrachi's daughter Orel has entered her military service and they ask prayers over her. Please pray for all of the believers serving their nation in the military, police, intelligence and government.

A dear sister, Orna Greenman, who ministers beautifully in her A Sign & An Example ministry (Ot Ol'Mofet) to widows, orphans and single parents, now is communicating primarily through her new blog which you can sign to to follow (and receive notices of new ministry entries).  Her latest entry is Two Women on Ruth and Orpah. From Rick Ridings at Succat Hallel we get a request for his daughter Bethany who has developed the flu - and just a little less than 2 weeks away from a worship training camp she is the overseer for over 80 Jewish messianic, Arab and Palestinian youth. Jonathan Moore, who is Daniel Juster's son-in-law, posted on Facebook: I interact with a lot of pastors. Some are leaders of huge churches or ministries. Sometimes we get to talking about theology and once in a while, we talk about how to reach Israelis. They don't get how it's different for us than for the rest of the world. I propose the following points/questions to help them understand:

1. When an African tribalist, or an Indian Hindi, or an "unchurched" American comes to faith in Yeshua (Jesus) what do they remain African, Indian, or American? When a Jew comes to faith in Yeshua do they remain a Jew?

2. When the above examples come to faith you say they convert. Can the same be said of a Jew who believes in the same scriptures you believe without the New Covenant (Testament) portion? Is it conversion to find the Messiah you've been looking for as a people and strengthen the covenant between God and man via his Messiah?

3. When you use scripture to prove that Yeshua is the Messiah, you probably use the Old Covenant scriptures. Your case will probably be weakened by the fact you are "preaching at them" in the translated English from the Hebrew that they have read since childhood. Are you able to take the time to understand the original Hebrew so that you can back up your claims about virgin birth and other prophetic references?

I recently listened to a native Israeli share his faith to another native Israeli and... was... amazed. His use of the prophets was incredible. I realized in that moment that we need more sabras equipped to share their faith. And we need our pastor friends all over the world to recognize that the barrier to evangelism in Israel is not like evangelism in most of the world. In fact, the word missionary in Israel is as bad as adulterer, criminal, conman, or crook in the rest of the world.

My comments: Years ago I saw that there is an anointing for ministering the gospel to the Jews that is different from the anointing for the gentiles and that was according to the Apostle to the Gentiles, Paul/Shaul in Galatians 2:7-9 The Council at Jerusalem: 

...On the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted to preach the gospel to the Gentiles, just as Peter had been to the Jews. For God, who was at work in Peter’s apostleship to the Jews, was also at work in my apostleship to the Gentiles. And recognizing the grace I had been given, James, Cephas, and John—those reputed to be pillars—gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, so that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the Jews.…

It is a little high-minded to think the "pillars" today can bypass what the apostles Paul, James, Peter and John acknowledged publicly to be a spiritual reality in this matter.

This also reminded me of a woman who I knew in the 80's who said she had a heart for native Americans. She took in a native American teen as a foster child and one of the first things she did was take that girl to a hairdresser and cut off her long tradition Indian hair into a short pixie cut (like her own), completely shutting down the spirit of that girl towards her and the faith. Many Christians do the same thing trying to minister to Jews from a place with no comprehension of the Jewish experience.

Moral of the Story: There is an anointing from God to minister the Gospel in Israel that rests upon fellow Israelis who are followers of Yeshua. That does not discount that some Jews come to faith through Christians sharing with them, but the kind of nationwide wave of salvation sweeping Israelis into the kingdom is going to take the anointing that God has put on Israeli ministers in the same was as it was on James, Peter and John.

During the Shavuot prayer event, during one of the last prayer sets, Asher Intrater came forward and shared that the Shavuot holiday does not just appear in Acts 2 with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, but it also appears in Acts 20 when Paul tells the elders of the Church in Ephesus that he was hurrying to be at Jerusalem, if possible, on the Day of Pentecost (Shavuot).

Now this mention from Asher just thrilled me to know end because it forms the basis of my Israelprayer/Arrows from Zion ministry. Early in the 1990's God began to open my eyes about the apostle Paul's ministry and the Holy Spirit began leading me on a connect-the-dots revealing of scriptures that are related to the apostle's revelation of how in Yeshua, God was bringing Jew and Gentile into "one new man".

A major feature of that is in how Paul was modeling the type of relationship the Gentile church was to enter into with the Israeli Messianic believers. Why was Paul hurrying to get to Jerusalem by the Feast of Shavuot? Because he was bringing with him the collection from the churches he had been gathering over several years to bring to the leaders in Jerusalem for distribution in the work among the Jewish people.

Remember, Paul was in Jerusalem when King Herod had James executed to please the Jews who were opposed to the Jewish believers; and he also had Peter in jail. He was there delivering a contribution from the church after a coming severe famine throughout the Roman Empire was prophesied in Antioch. Knowing the opposition against the believers in Israel, they determined to send special help to the believers in Judea.

I came to the conviction that while these things unfolded before Paul's eyes - a man who had been radically set free from his own religious hatred of the Jewish followers of Yeshua - Paul came to understand that the Jewish opposition to faith in Yeshua was going to be around until the very end.

Not only that, but that the gentile Church would have a mighty role to play in succoring the Jewish believers who stood as a witness of Yeshua in Israel - exactly like the believers responded to in the face of the prophesied worldwide famine.

I also came to the conviction that it was not enough for a Christian to support Israel in a world that hates Israel and the purposes of God. But that the apostle Paul had modeled to the Church what her relationship to the believers in Israel is actually: We are SPIRITUALLY connected to the believers in Israel and we are to help them to fulfill their ministry in Israel, in prayers and in material assistance.

Paul was hurrying to make it to Jerusalem with the collection from all the churches under his oversight. Paul knew that the Shavuot feast is the one that is a prophetic picture not just of the outpouring of Acts chapter 2 in the beginning, but it is also the prophetic picture of the outpouring in the end times. In our days, when the Church and the Israeli Messianics are truly joined together in the unity of the faith as "one new man" in Messiah, this will be the final outpouring of the Spirit on all flesh.

Together we are pressing into the purposes of God in restoring salvation to all Israel and the great outpouring of God's Holy Spirit in a great wave of salvation in all the nations.
