Priority Prayer Focus

Pray for all those in Israel who have purposed in their hearts as the apostle Paul purposed in his:

"And see, now I go bound in the spirit to Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will happen to me there, except that the Holy Spirit testifies in every city, saying that chains and tribulations await me. But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God."   Acts 20:22-24

This verse also touches the specific mission that Paul was bound by the Spirit to travel to Jerusalem for: to bring the financial support of the churches to deliver to the Messianic leadership in Israel, that they might distribute to the need in their community.  Anyone could have made the delivery of financial donations, but Paul knew that it was important to God that he specifically made the delivery knowing it would cost him his own personal freedom.  In such a case, doesn’t it speak of a deeper significance that we have been missing and which must be restored?  It is a vital truth that when restored will release the ministry of the gospel in Israel.

Praise Report

Here is an email we received last week from a subscriber in Nashville – a great example of how this prayer summary multiplies outreach for the Body of Messiah in Israel:

Donna:
I have to tell you that your weekly e-mails contain REALLY valuable info that I don't get anywhere else.  It is SO NEEDED!  I am so touched when I read the perspective of these precious Messianic leaders speaking from the heart of Israel.

We have, in Nashville, a very large pro-Israel contingent.  Yet many, if not most of them, are really focused in on either the land and security issues or on studying up on their Hebrew roots.  Very few carry the Lord's heart for what He is doing in the Land today!

I myself have an e-mail list of over 200 people (almost all of them in the greater Nashville area).  A few weeks ago I got an idea to start a monthly newsletter designed to challenge them to some new perspectives regarding Israel.  Much of the impetus for this came from reading the Weekly Arrows.

In this monthly newsletter I will have people contact me if they are interested in going deeper into prayer for the Body in Israel.  Those who contact me I will refer to you.  Be assured that I will stay away from divulging names or locations of any ministries.

Thanks...love what you are doing,
GDF (Nashville, TN)

Contact information for all the ministries is included inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Maoz Ministries, Ari and Shiri Sorko-Ram, share that they are stepping away from pasturing the Tiferet Yeshua congregation in Tel Aviv, and are bringing Asher Intrater back as the senior pastor.  Asher served in Tiferet Yeshu before being sent out several years ago along with Eddie Santoro to raise up the Jerusalem congregation, Ahavat Yeshua.  Intrater will continue in oversight at the Jerusalem congregation as well as in Tel Aviv, and his Revive-Israel MinistriesRon Cantor will also serve with Intrater at Tiferet Yeshua and in the major emphasis that the Sorko-Ram’s have established in equipping the next generation of Israeli Messianic leaders.

Pray for Asher as he steps into this key role in Tiferet Yeshua, that he will find the right balance for all his commitments and that God would grant great grace as he pours into the next generation of Body leadership.  Pray for a covering over Asher and all his family as becomes an even greater threat to the gates of hell.

Just before a 12-hour Esther Fast & Prayer Vigil in Jerusalem last weekend, Intrater sent out his weekly prayer letter asking, Could similar events as in the book of Esther happen again?  Read it here: Could It Happen Again?

Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua writes this week about the Esther Fast & Prayer, vigil which has become an annual observance and one of three such fasting & prayer vigils they hold each year.  (It was also streaming live so those from the nations could also participate.)

Eddie writes:  “The intensity of the Holy Spirit increased throughout the day. By the last session, which we dedicated to unity in the Body of Messiah culminating in the celebration of the Lord’s Table, the presence of God in our small meeting room was overwhelming. We sensed that our day of prayer and worship had really opened up the heavens.”

Santoro also asks for prayer in two national issues:

·Formation of the Government - The deadline for Prime Minister Netanyahu to form a coalition is quickly approaching. The process of building a coalition seems to be stalled as the parties involved have been unable to agree on a unified platform.  Please keep praying that the new government will both be successfully formed in the coming days and will be able to deal with the many difficult security and economic issues that face this nation. If this does not happen, the nation will have to go to elections again.

        · Growing Unrest - There has been over a week of rioting and unrest in many areas of Judea and Samaria (West Bank). The Palestinians are using the incarceration of terrorists by the Israeli government as the catalyst to encourage rioting and lawlessness by their people. Please pray that this wave of unrest would quickly pass and that tensions would decrease throughout the West Bank in the coming days. Pray that the situation would not grow into a third “intifada” (civil uprising) against Israel.

Pray for “S” who after two years of perseverance in the face of much persecution was immersed in the mighty name of Yeshua, Santoro writes.  “She has a gift of evangelism and we are confident that God is going to use her to touch those in her generation in the coming years.”

Howard Bass of Nachalat Yeshua in Beer Sheva sets out for South Africa and asks prayer over his ministry trip.  When he returns in mid-March it will be in time for the first of two annual SAYF (Sitting At Yeshua’s Feet) retreats; this one to be held at the Sea of Galilee.  These are precious times for the spiritual leaders in the Body in Israel, as together they seek the LORD and relationship with each other.  Pray for these leaders who are drawn from both Jewish and Arab congregations throughout Israel.

Bass also touches on the installation of Jack Sara as the new President of Bethlehem Bible College which hosts the controversial “Christ at the Checkpoint” event.  Howard writes:  “Jack has good relations with many on the Israeli Messianic side, and will be faced with many challenges at BBC, and, in so far as is possible, we are to be at peace with one another as brothers and sisters in our Father's family.”

Also:  “As I have been asking before, please pray for a BREAKTHROUGH by the Lord to bring His sheep together that will affect us all in our comfort zones, but that is necessary to progress further in many areas of our lives, whether personal, family, congregation, nation, Body of Messiah.  GOD'S UNITY; GOD'S LOVE; GOD'S TRUTH; GOD'S GLORY.”

In the Teaching section inside the Weekly Summary we are featuring a teaching article by Howard Bass on  The New Moon:  Covered or Revealed?

Israel Pochtar of the persecuted Beit Hallel congregation in Ashdod sent his prayer letter from an Arab-Israel Conference for Young Leaders that was held in Turkey.  Participants from all over the Middle East were participants in the conference which Pochtar reports was “a wonderful time of fellowship, preaching and ministering.”

Pochtar also gives a report on the KGB-style methods being used by representatives of the Orthodox community in Ashdod “watching and monitoring every single thing we do.  Please continue praying for us and our work to be unhindered despite the many attempts to stop us, pressuring even people around us to try and alienate them from us.”

One veteran’s organization that the congregation has been doing outreach to help the elderly war veterans came under pressure to turn the Messianic help away, but the elderly vets director told the rabbi that they had turned to the Orthodox community for help first and were turned away, so they had little right to tell them who they should or should not work with.  Pray for Israel Pochtar and his congregations and outreaches in the Negev, that they will continue to rise above the constant harassment of religious persecution and remain a shining light in the Land.

Kobi and Shani Ferguson of Yeshua Israel write about Children Discipleship Training in Jerusalem:  “in order to see long term fruit, we must prioritize training our children and the children of other believing families around us.”  Get the link inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Brian Slater, who is currently on a ministry trip in Texas, provides links to video clips on his website of areas of their ministry in the Netanya area with Yeshua’s Fresh Bread in Israel.  Slater is excited about being allowed into Israeli prisons to minister; their new Dry Food Distribution Outreach Center; and a recent outreach with Holocaust Survivors and Native Evangelical Indians.  Links provided inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Leon Mazin of the Return to Zion Center in Haifa and the Nazareth of the Galilee congregations, shares the personal “journey of the Spirit” of Lena, who serves in the congregational soup kitchen.  Mazin notes that those who are chosen by God capable of influencing the world become so through the refining of our own characters by the will of God.  Read Lena’s testimony inside the attached Weekly Summary.

From Yo-yakim and Debbie Figueras of the Hasdey Yeshua (Mercy of Yeshua) congregation in Arad, we hear about the congregational Purim festivities held in the Arad home/facility of Eddie and Lura Beckford.  The Figueras make a special point of identifying the several groups, congregations and ministries who stand together as one Body of believers in Arad.  This is not only a necessity in the face of persecution the Arad believers have endured, but it is the blessing of the fellowship they have working together in the LORD’s harvest fields in their city.  You really should read “Ties that Bnd” inside the attached Weekly Summary.

The Figueras also talk about the patience needed in Israel dealing with the bureaucracy in finalizing their congregational facility.  In the meantime, the Beckfords have opened their doors to the other believers in Arad for meetings.

Let me just say something about the ministries of the Negev, that these are the congregations that are often the beaten path as far getting visitors from the nations doing tours in Israel.  They tend not to be ministries with much opportunity to do fundraising speaking in the nations either.   They are the mostly unknown, smaller ministers who are nevertheless are the ambassadors of Yeshua in their communities.  Pray for these ministries – that God will provide them believers in the nations to lifter them up before the Throne of grace, and also to stand by them in material support.  These may be unknown in the nations, but they are not unknown by God who sees their labor of love in the name of Yeshua.

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue
Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:

Pray for God’s complete healing of Katya Morrison at Tents of Mercy (recovering from bone marrow transplant for Acute Myeloid Leukemia);  Brookie in the Galilee and Tom both are believing for victory over cancer in Carmel.  Pray for Kay Wilson still suffering from PTSD after surviving a stabbing terrorism attack that her friend did not survive.   Continue to pray for baby Netaley who just finished another round of chemo.   The Grandmother of the Bat Mitzvah girl mentioned in Eitan Shishkoff's prayer letter is battling cancer. Please pray with us for this family, as they endure a difficult time.

Praying for Israel from the Nations

We received this important intercession notice from subscriber Kim Bennett kimb206@gmail.com in South Africa :

I recently started an initiative to pray for our campuses which are facing Israel Apartheid Week.   It takes the form of 3 daily prayer pointers for the month leading up to IAW.  Format is very much focused on repentance, and blessing our enemies, but also for strengthening and blessing the Jews and Christians, and equipping them to stand.

Israel Apartheid Week takes place in campuses around the world in March and in May the international conference against so-called Israel Apartheid is scheduled to be held in Johannesburg.  I feel that for South African believers, this is an Esther call to stand against this nonsense in May.

I have been asked to continue on with this initiative until the conference outlined in the email to follow.
South Africans are welcome to write Kim to be included on this prayer list:

As you know Israel Apartheid Week is scheduled on campuses around South Africa in early March.  The dates vary from campus to campus.

In early May an international conference is planned in Johannesburg covering the same topics.  Namely, isolation of Israel economically.  It covers the same hackneyed modus operand ii .  How to encourage SA business to disinvest in Israel, to encourage the public to boycott Israeli products, and get the government to impose sanctions. It will also push to see Israel branded an apartheid state.

This conference is the brain-child of a seemingly innocuous and somewhat non-specific "Arab organization" in Lebanon.  One can only assume that it will be planned (and probably funded) to large extent by Hisballah, backed by Syria and Iran.  It will be hosted in our country by the South African Council of Churches, Kairos SA (a "so-called Christian" pro-Palestine organization), the ANC, SACP and Cosatu.

As I see it, this conference can only be harmful to the spiritual and physical well-being of our country. At the risk of sounding alarmist, I personally feel that South Africa will stand firmly in the camp of the goat-nations spoken of by the Messiah if we, as a people, remain silent whilst this unfolds on South African soil.

Esther 4:14  For if you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will rise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father's house will perish. And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?"

Mat 25:32-46  Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left.
Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.' "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' Then they also will answer, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?' Then he will answer them, saying, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.' And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

When the Lord speaks of "brothers" in this passage, the Greek is "delphus" meaning "from the womb".  This implies that when we "bless the least of His brothers", we are blessing His people, i.e., the Nation of Israel and the Jewish people.

I have been asked to continue the Prayer Call after Israel Apartheid Week ends until the conference in Johannesburg in early May and was wondering if there would be continued interest from the Prayer Call subscribers?  Please feel free to forward this to anyone you may feel would be interested.  Kim Bennett (write me at arrowsfromzion@gmail.com for Kim's contact info)

Praying the Headlines

'Gazans seek elections as Hamas support declines'
AWRAD poll shows support for Hamas declined since December; 68% support negotiations if Israel halts settlement construction.  The poll, conducted by the Arab World for Research and Development (AWRAD), said that while support for Hamas was down, support for Fatah was back to its July 2012 level (42%), an increase from 37% in December.  Jerusalem Post 02/21/2013
Israelprayer:  It appears that Hamas is losing ground with the man on the street. I have wondered what in the world is going on in all the crazy musical chairs proposals going on within the Hamas leadership. Now I see it must mean they are scrambling because they are losing popular support on the street. They should have held elections in December but apparently it keeps getting put off to a later date. It appears the Palestinians are moving toward wanting a deal with Israel rather than the Hamas no-deal-EVER way. Interesting stuff going on. When I have time I hope to backtrack and put it together.

Israelprayer:  Apparently it is big news when a Messianic Jewish family turns their back on the faith in Yeshua and returns to Judaism.  Maariv is a substantial newspaper in Israel so it surprised me to see this article summarized in the latest issue of the Caspari Media Review.  It also surprised me to see that I knew of this family because they had contacted me several years ago to feature their B&B in Israelprayer.  {See more inside the attached Weekly Summary}

 Priority Prayer Focus

Pray for Israel’s Messianic Pro-Life Ministry as they speak for Israel’s unborn – intervening to help those who want to choose life.
Open your mouth and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves
in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.
Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy
Proverbs 31:8-9
Arrows from Zion
Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

This week one strong thread arose in many different prayer letters so that is the leading focus of our prayers this week:  Pray for the Pro-Life Movement in Israel which many of the Israeli ministries throughout Israel are being used to reach women in crisis.

This week a private prayer letter crossed our desk that noted:  “Calls to the Pro Life lines throughout the country have all but stopped. IF there is no need, Hallelujah. However pray that if something is blocking people from asking for counseling that the calls which need to go through will.”

This does not seem like a natural situation, and considering that the hotlines operated throughout Israel are through the Messianic Be’ad Chaim (“For Life”) organization, it may be there is some sort of tampering going on.  If this is the case – or no matter what the case is – please join in to pray for the Pro-Life ministries of Israel, that those who are seeking their help instead of abortions would not be cut off from contact.

One of the leading young prayer ministers who has been connected with the pro-life movement in Israel since his teens and who now leads Bound4Live in Israel, Joel Jelski, just happens to be in north Texas currently.  When I Facebook messaged the input about the call lines, Joel wrote back: “That’s weird because in the last few months they have only increased the amount of calls and pregnant mothers who have decided to keep the baby.”

Clearly the pro-life ministry in Israel is an effective outreach and it also clearly needs prayer cover.  But the two different pro-life ministries were not the only things that drew attention to the pro-life needs this week.  When I tried to copy and paste from prayer requests received from the Hamaayan (Wellspring) congregation of Tony and Orna Sperandeo in Kfar Saba, only one prayer request out of two pages of their ministry prayer letter would copy:

“Pray for the international pro-life conference from March 10th-17th, where many of us are involved in teaching and workshops.”  I’ve written to ask for another document form for the rest of their prayer requests, but it certainly drew attention in light of the other pro-life mentions this week!

The following information was taken from the Be'ad Chaim (“For Life”) website, which is the leading Messianic Pro-Life organization in Israel that operates hotlines throughout Israel.  Contact Sandy Shoshani prolife@netvision.net.il

An estimated 40-50 thousand babies are aborted annually in Israel even though according to penal code of 1977, it is illegal for a woman to have an abortion in Israel unless:
The woman is under 17 or over 40
The baby is conceived out of wedlock
The baby may have a physical or mental defect
Continuing the pregnancy will put the woman in physical or mental danger

In these situations, a government-regulated abortion committee can permit a legal (an often state-subsidized) abortion.   In recent years, the number of women seeking the approval of such committees in Israel has plateaued at about 20,000 requests per year. 98 percent of these requests are approved.

Please read more about the pro-life movement in Israel at the Be’ad Chaim website, including their Operation Moses ministry.

Two events worth noting this week are the Esther Fast & Prayer (which will be available online) and the Tel Aviv Women’s Conference.  Both start on Thursday.

Chaya Mizrachi at Adonai Roi in Tel Aviv will be hosting the Women’s conference that will be in 4 sessions over Thursday and Friday.  Thursday sessions are for pastor’s wives and leadership only, then the Friday session for all the women of the Body of Messiah in Israel.  Dotty Schmitt from Immanuel's Church in Silver Spring, MD is the main speaker.  Pray for the LORD to walk among the women.

Also on Thursday, the annual Esther Fast and Prayer led by Revive Israel will be doing 12 continuous hours of prayer together with several congregations and prayer house according to the themes in the book of Esther.  Those in the nations are invited to join in (6 AM to 6 PM Israel Time). List of prayer topics and praise watches are available at The Fast of Esther 2013 and Click here to join us live in the prayer room

Howard and Randi Bass (Yeshua's Inhertance in Beer Sheva) are celebrating their 32-nd new-birth-day the day before Valentine’s Day – what a blessing that they both got saved the same day, in the same city – a city they were just passing through together.   Now their lives are given to serve the LORD in Israel shepherding the flock in Beer Sheva.

Bass writes that an April conference, “Spring up, O Well” is being organized by a sister, Elinor, for Beer Sheva.  Howard writes, “There is a growing number of believers who are beginning to see the importance and significance of Beer Sheva to God's plan of redemption for Israel. . . . Among the local speakers will be Avner Boskey and myself.  Your prayers for 'success' in God's eyes will be greatly appreciated.”

It is one thing when one minister has a vision for their place in the salvation of Israel and it is another thing when a congregation catches the vision of their place in the salvation of Israel.  But it is raised to an even higher level when a city or region of believers begin to catch a vision of the significance of their city or region in the LORD’s plan of redemption for Israel….and when certain ones in the nations catch the vision with them, then we begin to see the strongholds over the city or region yield to the superior power of the life-giving gospel of Messiah Yeshua.

Pray for the believers of Beer Sheva and Negev who are catching their own significant role in God’s plans for their region, and for those who have been drawn by the LORD Himself from the nations to stand alongside to intercede for open heavens over them.

Howard will be visiting South Africa for the first time between  March 1-11.  Pray for anointing upon all his messages and for Divine appointments – open spirits among the people of Durban, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.

Evan Levine of the HaTikvah project asks prayers for his wife, Elisa, who has been dealing with recurring pain in her leg over the past 9 months. Doctors have not been able to find the source of the problem, and many days she must use crutches the pain is so great.  Pray for the LORD to heal Elisa and for the doctors also to be given Divine insight to the source.

One of the recent recipients of HaTikvah is a family who are recent immigrants from the Ukraine with 2 small children and no beds, blankets or food as they arrived in Israel.  HaTikvah has been able to help them with grocery vouchers and other needed practical items as a witness of the love of Yeshua.  Pray as this ministry seeks to make a difference in the lives of the poor while advancing Yeshua’s kingdom in Israel.

Last week there was not enough space to share all of Arni Klein’s news from ministering ‘down under’ so we inserted a portion from last week where Klein speaks of re-meeting First Nations leader Lynda Prince after many in years.   From 1998 to 2003, long time prayer partners of the Klein’s will know there were strong ties developing between the two ministries.

Arni writes: “In 2003, when it appeared that our work in connecting First Nations with Israel was about to really take off, for no discernible reason it stopped cold.  We had some contact with Lynda in the ensuing years, but without any sense of continuing the work.  It was at that very time the Lord led us to invest ourselves in Germany.  We remarked then how we could never have done both at the same time. Now, after ten years and close to 80 trips to Germany, it seems the Lord might be broadening the horizons.  Two weeks ago, Lynda and I were together in Sydney and spent a day together.  After ten years we have virtually picked up where we left off.  Praise the Lord for His amazing, intricately-woven plans. …Please stand with us for God’s plan to unfold.  The First Nations people of Australia have an indispensable part in releasing the nation into the path ordained for them.”

Asher Intrater asks prayer for the following issues:
Rebels connected with Al Qaida have taken over an air force base in Syria with missiles and fighter planes. Pray for divine protection for Israel and for endangered Christians within Syria.
Netanyahu desires the widest possible government coalition, but has not been able to form it yet. Pray for right policy guidelines and coalition members.
Pray for health, growth and love in our sister congregations, Ahavat Yeshua in Jerusalem and Tiferet Yeshua in Tel Aviv.
Pray for right selection for best possible new Pope for the Catholic Church.

There are changes in the Tel Aviv congregation Tiferet Yeshua as Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram begin to pass the baton of the congregational leadership to the next generation.  Asher Intrater, who served in the congregation in the 1990’s will take oversight of the congregation with a view toward raising up and mentoring young leaders into mature leaders who can one day lead the congregation.  Ron and Elana Cantor will also step into a more significant role in the day-to-day pastoral leadership team.  Intrater will continue in his oversight of the Ahavat Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem, as well.

The Sorko-Rams will continue as the senior pastors of Tiferet Yeshua, but as the couple in their 70’s view it – in the grandparent role rather than the parent role.  Great analogy!  Pray for all involved for this transition process to go smoothly and multiple the fruit.

Praying the Headlines

Defense Dragging Their Feet in Jack Teitel’s Sentencing
Messianic ministers David and Leah Ortiz write about the sentencing court date last week of Jack Teitel, a religious Jewish terrorist who planted a bomb disguised as a Purim basket at their doorstep in hopes of murdering the family.  Their 15-year old son Ami almost lost his life in 2008 when he opened the gift basket and it exploded in his hands.  Finally in 2013, Jack Teitel has been convicted, but as David and Leah report, Teitel's attorneys continue to delay sentencing and hope to get him off by claiming his murderous acts were caused by mental instability.

David & Leah Ortiz: I wish you all could sit in the court room and behold what we see, how the defense constantly  tries to manipulate the law in order to get a self-confessed, guilty man off the hook of true justice as much as lies in their power to do so. It is frustrating but so obvious how the enemy is using them to try to pervert justice.  Another fact to consider is that they are not defense attorneys assigned by the State of Israel, but privately hired, and we and others from the legal team and the media are wondering who is financing this!  We know from our own experience how expensive lawyers are.”

Survey Results, edited by Hannah Weiss

This is an excellent investigative case study of a disturbing, recent prophecy which you may or may not heard of, but the issues raised here are nonetheless relevant to those who pray for Israel and who do not despise prophecy.  What is exposed here is part of the public record.   Hannah Weiss of Restorers of Zion has done a very professional case study and search of original sources of a disturbing prophecy that was released in the last few months of 2012 which proved to wholly false.

The survey, which Israelprayer participated in, sought to investigate how the Body judges prophecies and how – or if - do we hold the prophetic accountable.  The results of the survey and insights to be drawn from it are quite compelling, and hopefully many will take the time to examine it at length – including the several reports drawn from the survey results.  Well done, Hannah!  This is exceptional work very much in the spirit of Deborah.

Priority Prayer Focus

“The drought is over!”  This is the declaration of Israeli officials after an unusually abundant winter season ending an 7-year drought.  We believe this is also the spiritual declaration that is being made over Israel too.  We may not see it yet but the clouds are full of rain – spiritual refreshing for a dry and spiritually parched people.

"But certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.  Blessed be God, Who has
not turned away my prayer nor His lovingkindness from me." Psalm 66

Praise Report

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life.
Proverbs 13:12

FULL PRAISE REPORT:  I want to open this week with a praise report on a special appeal we sent out on December 23rd, “Sunday before Christmas, Some Wishes sharing the heart of Ruth Nessim in Narhariya for the need of Arab pastor Najeeb Atteih of the Immanuel Church and Bible Bookshop in Haifa.  Here is Ruth’s followup report:

On Monday (Jan 16th) I got an email from someone who has corresponded before, and read the letter about Najeeb that you published (Some Christmas Wishes) She asked whether Najeeb had managed to get his apartment.

As you know, we have been praying for much time about the lack of funds to complete the purchase of Najeeb's very modest apartment in one of the poorest districts in Haifa. It seemed as though the heavens were as brass, and when I wrote to you , It was a last desperate attempt, but without much hope. As the old hymn says, "We should never be discouraged, take it to The Lord in Prayer" When I had given up all hope, I went to a Lebanese meeting in Nahariya. I was very depressed. They began to sing the song, "He raised me up".

The next day I could not get this song out of my mind. In the evening (Jan 16th) I received an email from someone who has corresponded before and read the letter about Najeeb that you published (Some Christmas Wishes).   She asked me whether Pastor Najeeb had been able to acquire his apartment, and I emailed back to say we were still lacking the $30,000. Then I went to sleep, and my soul was singing "He raised me up".  I woke up and my soul was still singing  "He raised me up" .

I put the kettle on to make some coffee, and then opened my I Pad, and therewas a letter from the lady who had written the day before, saying that she felt the Lord telling her to send $20,000. I sat on the couch and cried, while still singing,"He raised me up." Then I wrote to tell her how I had fallen asleep and come to, still singing, "He raised me up"

When I phoned Najeeb, whom just finished a 40-day fast, the phone seemed to go dead, and I could hear only weird noises.  Then I realized that he was sobbing, and I cried with him, I then wrote back to the good lady and thanked her for her kindness, and told her how I could not stop singing ,"He raised me up".  The same evening, I got a second email saying my email had done her so much good that she was raising up the donation to $30,000. I was flabbergasted!

We should never give up hope even when there is none, He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think! With our God, nothing is impossible.

Thank you too for sending my letter on, and God bless,
Ruth Nessim

Israelprayer: Today I followed up with Ruth to see if the donation had arrived yet and she confirmed that it has arrived.  I wanted to include this as an encouragement to us all.  We never know how the LORD will answer our needs, but it is for certain that when a need exists that sharing it is the first step to seeing it met.  Let’s praise God with Ruth and Pastor Najeeb  for one less expense to worry about!  Hallelujah!

Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israeli Ministries

Last week we featured an excerpt from Ahavat Yeshua’s Eddie Santoro about how Israeli voters cast their vote with candidates who spoke to the plight of Israel’s ‘middle class’ who are hurting from the high cost of living in Israel and the fact that the economic burden is not shared by many of the religious who are on the public dole.  Eddie wrote that a couple “doing well” might bring home $4,500 a month, but apt cost upwards of $500,000!

This brought an email from another believer I know in Israel who said most believer couples they know are not in the “doing well” income range, but rather as a couple are only bringing in just under $2,700 monthly with  one of the paychecks gobbled entirely by apt rental.

Also writing: “Renters pay not only the rent and the apartment fees, but we also pay the owner's monthly taxes!  Unlike most places of employment in the states here we are paid once a month.  The average salary is around 5 – 6,000 NIS double that and you get between $ 2685 – $3222 a month.   Woman who do well make around 6 – 8000 NIS, men make more, discrimination, 8,000 to 10,000.  I know that there are professional and IT people who make more, but it seems like the average Joe is just that – average!   You can see why we need miracles!”

Here is the situation:  Some better known ministry leaders do get living support in the neighborhood of $5,000 a month, but certainly not all are doing that well.  It has to do with being able to establish a lot of outside support for their ministries and their own living expenses which in turn takes quite a bit of travel for speaking engagements outside of Israel.  It takes years to build up a good support base and is not that easy to even develop the venues willing to receive Israeli ministries raising support.

One day, my belief is that this will not be the case.  Many, many Christians donate to causes wanting to “bless Israel” but the greatest blessing of Israel – bar none – is the support of those carrying the testimony of Yeshua and the gospel to Israelis.  Please pray for the believers of Israel, the ministry leaders, their support staff and also the congregants, for God to open new resources and income streams.  Pray also for those worldwide believers who are already giving to “bless Israel” to awaken to the mandate we have to begin that endeavor at the household of faith in Israel – the believer ministries.

Speaking of Eddie Santoro, he writes this week about the amazing winter rains that ended a 7 year drought and brought up the water levels so that Israel will be well watered in the coming year.   He spoke of a word he received from the LORD of the “certainty of the harvest” that “The cold, dark rainy season that we were passing through contained within itself the absolute certainty of the harvest to come.”

Continuing, “And then the Lord expanded the natural promise to a far greater spiritual one. As surely as the rain was coming down on a dry and thirsty land, I saw how God was pouring out his rain in the spirit. As the angels proclaimed in Luke 2, God’s favor is resting upon those of us who believe. We may not be able to see or feel the rain with our natural senses, but there is most certainly a downpour of grace and power that is continually washing upon each one of us. And as this favor rests upon our lives, it is a “deposit guaranteeing the inheritance”.  As surely as the flowers will blossom in the coming spring, so too the spiritual fruit will abound in all of our lives. This is the inevitable result of a people who walk and live in the grace and love of Yeshua the Messiah.”  Read more inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Santoro also writes of the miracle of living in Israel and about the Love of Yeshua Messianic congregation he leads with Asher Intrater in Jerusalem.  One comment, “Living in Israel is a miracle that reminds us each day of the goodness of the Lord. First of all, just to be a part of the end time destiny of the Jewish people returning to their promised land is an incredible blessing. And then how much more wonderful is it to be a part of the spiritual restoration of this people to their Messiah!”

Pray for those who are anointed by the Holy Spirit to carry the testimony of Yeshua abiding in their lives and sharing the good news to Israelis of the free gift that is to all who will call upon His Name.

Howard Bass sends an update of his family including a recent blessing of his son and another IDF officer who were honored for being not only active IDF soldiers but were also active in their local congregations.  This was a nice recognition that was presented before the Beer Sheva congregation. “Please pray for them – Tal and Keti - and all of the military personnel among the Messianic community.  One of the young persons in the photo is Victor, who will be inducted next month.”

Howard also asks prayers “for our older 'fathers and mothers', who suffer from various pains and ailments 'normal' for their age and the life they live: Sofia, Israel & Luda, Olavi & Esther, Demitri & Maria, Lera, Vera, German & Anna.”

Living in society (like the U.S.) where elders are not honored or even much cared for, this is a very important testimony how Messianic Israel cares for those among them in advancing age, as well as the Holocaust survivors and needy elderly.  Please pray for all the Messianic ministries who are caring for the elderly – that God would grant a blessing of resources for these outreaches of compassion and care in the Name of Yeshua.

Another prayer request: Pray also, please, for Assia, who directs our children's ministry, both during the week and for the Shabbat school during our services.  She has been an outstanding and faithful servant through the years for the children, a number of whom come to our congregation although their parents may go to another, or are not believers.  (If they are not believers, we have their written consent that their children are with us.) We trust the Lord for these children to grow up in the knowledge of the one true God and of Yeshua the Messiah whom He sent.  Practically speaking, those parents who do not themselves belong to our congregation or who do not believe, neither do they contribute towards the financial costs of the ministry blessing their children.  We are glad that they trust us with their children and pray that the name of Yeshua is honored in them.

You can check out many articles of interest in the website www.streamsinthenegev.com which Bass says he has just brought up to date with new articles and teachings.

Ron and Elana Cantor, who serve at the Tiferet Yeshua congregation in Tel Aviv with the Sorko-Rams, are asking for prayers as they have been asked to take on more responsibility at the congregation – now to devote 70-80% of their time to the congregation.  Their increased duties will be leadership training, meeting with young couples, training those called to preach and strengthening the congregation through teaching and preaching.  Pray for them in this transition.  Ron writes, “As I will be traveling less, which means less offerings, please pray for more monthly partners who believe that God wants to touch Tel Aviv!”

Also pray for Ron’s book “Idenity Theft” which is being released for major distribution by Destiny Image Publishers.   Pray that this book will help many Christians “understand the New Testament in its original Jewish context and how this Jewishness was removed over the centuries.”  And that it would also open Jewish eyes to the Jewishness of Jesus so they might be saved.

Mazal tov to Evan and Maala Thomas on the marriage of their only child, daughter Sara.:  “There has never been a prouder moment than when Abba Evan walked his daughter down that aisle!  Please uplift Sara and Beni in your prayers.”

A short list of prayer requests for their congregation, Beit Asaph in the coming year:
-Seek to strengthen the vision for outreach to a desperately needy society all around us.
-Equip the saints through sound teaching of God’s Word.
-Provide a national example of biblical reconciliation by participating (young and older) in various initiatives that demonstrate reconciliation between Arab and Jewish Believers as part of their core values.
-Support and encourage couples who have announced their intentions to marry this year
-Effectively serve our youth who have declared their desire for baptism. Many of our young people are discovering how important it is to allow Yeshua to be ‘Lord’ and not just ‘Savior’ as they face the struggles of adolescence and prepare for army service.
These are prayer requests that could be applied to all the ministries in Israel.

Ari B and Yonatan M at Revive Israel Ministries write about Rumors of War...and Israeli Tourism .  They are so right!  If we allow the rumors of war to stop us from visiting Israel, we will never go, and the Israeli economy that is so dependent on tourism will suffer.

I have personally been to Israel three times. In 2003, 2005 and 2007.  In 2003 it was during the Second Intifada which ended more or less in early 2005.  My two companions and I made it our second purpose while in Israel – the first being to visit Messianic ministries – but the second to visit those places which had been suicide bombed in the Intifada.  We wanted to not only support the rebuilt business, but also to say along with the Israeli people, we are not afraid to go on living even in the places the enemy went to strike terror and death.  When in Israel, you will see that life goes on.  Go with God, and do not be terrorized from enjoying one of the most spiritual journeys a person can ever embark upon.

A Caspari Media Review email this week summaries an article from the Israeli business publication, Globes about the Arab Christian community.  This is something that is not talked about nearly enough – likely because of the negative repercussions in the Palestinian territories when Christian Arabs speak honestly about those who are causing them trouble.   You can read the Caspari translated summary inside the Weekly Summary – and get the contact information for their weekly translations of articles that have appeared in the Hebrew press.

Jacob Damkani of Trumpet of Salvation leads teams from the nations in evangelistic outreach on the streets of Israel. Damkani is an evangelist who like the Energizer bunny has often ‘taken a lickin’ but kept on tickin’!  (Meaning he has often been beaten up sharing the gospel on the streets, but he does not let it stop him.  He keeps going forth with the good news of Yeshua’s love.)  His ministry also does other kinds of outreach, one is demonstrated in their  latest video clip.

Praying the Headlines

Rick Ridings of Succat Hallel 24/7 House of Praise and Prayer in Jerusalem has a new Prayer Alert video:

“I believe most of you are very aware of the need to pray for Israel and Syria at this time, especially concerning the threat of the use and transfer of chemical weapons.  We have just released a new YouTube prayer alert which you can view via this YouTube link

Eddie Santoro adds these Israel Security Prayer bullets (See full excerpts inside the Weekly Summary):

Pray for a(n Israeli) government (coalition) that would be strong on security, effective in meeting the economic and social needs of its citizens and would stand united and strong before the nations of the world.

Pray that the house of our enemy (Egypt Muslim Brotherhood govt) would continue to be divided and ultimately fall.  Pray that the US would put a hold on the export of advanced weapons systems to Egypt until that nation’s stand towards Israel, the United States and the entire western world would be very clear.

Pray that Israel would stand firm against the wave of condemnation that followed last week's attack (convoy of Syrian trucks carrying advanced Russian made anti aircraft missiles was destroyed on its way to the Hezbollah terrorist group in Lebanon) and pray that the promised retaliation from our enemies would not be successful.

Teaching Articles

By Daniel Juster
Director of Tikkun Ministries International

Many pundits, especially on the left, teach that social justice is equality. This understanding is problematic since it seeks a leveling of individuals and groups. . . . Political correctness is an abusive manifestation of this perspective. In part, this is why, in the Western world we can no longer make (or are sometimes no longer allowed to make) good distinctions. . . . My concept of justice is rooted in Scripture, not in these false ideas of equality. I believe that a comprehensive reading of the Bible yields the following definition of social justice or a just social order.

Jewish New Testament Commentary Translation into HEBREW!
EXCITING NEW PROJECT that you can be a part of bringing David Stern’s NT Commentary to Israelis in the Hebrew language.  This is a first and you can help!

My Jewish New Testament Commentary is going to be translated into Hebrew and published in Israel!  This will fill a huge gap in what Hebrew-speaking Israeli Jews can understand about Yeshua the Messiah, the New Testament and Christianity.

We are partnering with Maoz, Inc. to raise the funds needed for the translation.  The total cost for the translation is $55,000, of which we the Sterns need to raise half ($27,500).   I invite you to have a part in this historic project by praying for the translation into Hebrew and by contributing to it financially.  To contribute, click this link   -- David and Martha Stern  on Facebook: Jewish New Testament / David H Stern (“Like” this Facebook page for weekly updates)
