Arrows from Zion
Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Jane Hanson Hoyt is the leader of a worldwide women’s prayer organization that in recent years has opened up to men too.  Over many years now Jane has developed a strong relationship with Israeli Asher Intrater and has been pointing her organization in the direction of prayer for the harvest in Israel. Not every single person in the Aglow sphere of influence has the vision that Jane Hanson Hoyt has received, but it is no little thing when an organization encircling the globe catches the vision of the LORD’s harvest in Israel.

This week in Intrater’s weekly prayer letter he shares an article from Jane to her Aglow International group called TheBook of Acts is Coming Alive!   Jane writes:  “The Acts 1 commission leads to the Acts 2 revival. Being "sent out" from Jerusalem is a significant step.  It is a spiritual alignment that will release further the last day anointing and power.”  The full article is here

We were really excited hearing this video of Asher's comments on this historic commissioning and alignment.

Eddie Santoro, who is the pastor of the Jerusalem Ahavat Yeshua congregation, gives several reports this week on the Shavuot Prayer Meeting that many of you joined via the live streaming feed, as well as the Shavuot annual picnic for Israeli believers that was held on the Yad HaShmonah grounds at Jerusalem.  Even wiped out after a 12-hour prayer and fasting vigil, the Santoros – like everyone we’ve heard from – had a fabulous time enjoying the company of fellow believers.   Eddie writes that over 1000 believers attended with their families and adds, “The remarkable growth of this event is a testimony to the increase of the Body over the past fifteen years. Please join us in praying that this growth will continue until “All Israel is saved”!”

Speaking of growth, Santoro also writes about the great number of births going on in their young congregation: four in past several months, five more on the way and five that all came into the world in October 2012.  They are having their own “little baby boom” in Messianic Israel.  Pray for these young families and the congregations that are taking care of them spiritually.

Eddie, who has a gift for writing about Israel’s current events – making the often complicated easy to follow – has another report in the Praying the Headlines section on the gathering storm clouds surrounding Israel.  You can read it inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Claude and Michelle Ezagouri of the Morning Star Fellowship (Or B’Darki) in Tiberias write about a tragedy that shook Israel last week when a valiant warrior who had saved lives during a terrorist attack a few years ago, committed suicide after killing four people in a Beer Sheva bank after being refused a loan.

The Israeli media also carried news last week that according to a report released in May by the 33-nation Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Israel has the highest poverty rate among OECD countries.  Israel’s poverty rate stood at close to 21% of the population in 2011.  These are not just statistical facts, but the reality that every congregation in Israel grapples with at many levels.

Ezagouri writes, “In the last few years, and especially because of the budget cuts, many people have gone into severe financial dire straits. This situation is causing many social problems and more and more children are sinking under poverty level. We need to pray that the government and more particularly the finance minister will get wisdom from the Lord and sensitivity to the lower classes of the Israeli society.”

Pray for the Ezagouri’s congregation which is in the midst of a new facility building project which has been mired in several permits complications.  They have received the permit for their bomb shelter but other permits are still crawling through the process.  They ask:  “Please don't lower your praying arms on our behalf.”  Pray also for their contractor Ruslan, that the LORD would supernaturally heal him of vertebra pain from an accident.

Their youth – who are on fire for the Lord in the north – are pressing into their long term vision.  Pray that God will open doors for these young people.  Also pray for the coming summer camps for both teens and children!

Guy Cohen of the Harvest of Asher congregation in Acco reports good news for the 4 people they have had injured or hospitalized for life threatening situations recently, in that all are on the road to recovery.  Thank God for answering the prayers of the saints for the saints.

Guy notes two areas for prayer, one a door that has been opened for Jews in Hungry to make aliyah to Israel; and two, he is asking continued prayer for them to be able to prepare for war by fulfilling the vision they have for a multi-function warehouse humanitarian facility.  Pray for all the Israeli ministries who are storing up for the ability to help their communities in a time of war everyone knows is coming.

In Arad, Lura and Eddie Beckford have gotten to the root of why their landlord is suddenly trying to sell their home out from under them: Yad L’Achim are applying great pressure on him to do so.  They are looking for an investor to purchase the property – a landlord that cannot be pressured by anti-Gospel activists.

If you have money to invest in Israel, think about buying property for the use of the believers. One of the issues with believers all over Israel is that landlords are pressured by 'anti-missionary' groups like Yad L'Achim, to kick believers out of their rental houses. This happens over and over again, as believers are chased from one house to the other.

In the days of the prophet Jeremiah, as Israel was going into captivity, the prophet purchased a parcel of land as a sign that Israel would return to the Land. If you believe that God is visiting salvation on Israel and you have investment money, making an investment in land whereby the believing Remnant can put down deep roots is ALSO a prophetic sign - that salvation has come to Israel and is there to stay.

Yo-yakim and Debbie Figeuras who pastor the Hebrew congregation in Arad (which has been holding their meetings in the home of the Beckfords) have a building in Arad to house their congregation, but are caught in the web of bureaucratic treachery dealing with a zoning variance board intent on inventing reasons they cannot grant the variance.

Another challenge they face is that a helpful, sympathetic friend in the Arad police department who stepped up enforcement against demonstrations against the believers in Arad, has lost his position. They ask prayer for this man.

We want to note that the Arad police department is like most of the police departments in Israel: of very  little help in protecting the believers from religious persecution and harassment. What is worse in the case of Arad is that there is a high concentration of incidents that has gone on almost daily for approaching a decade.  Let’s pray over the Israeli police using this Arad Police station as a point of contact – for the breaking forth of recognition of Messiah to being to take place in Police stations across Israel!   What the enemy has meant for evil, the LORD is able to turn for good.

Calev Myers of the Jerusalem Institute of Justice writes this week about representing the Makor HaTikvah Messianic School in Jerusalem after the Ministry of Education issued a closure order on the school claiming a failure to meet licensing requirements.  The courts found for the school to remain open for the present school year and to have the opportunity to receive a license for the next school year, based on the standard State requirements.

These types of red tape battles are going on continually against the believers in Israel and the Jerusalem Institute of Justice is involved in fighting many of them.  Donations help the JIJ to do their work for believers on a necessary pro bono basis.

Jacob Damkani reports on recent groups they have led through Israel who had “a willingness to do whatever it takes to bring the Good News to the chosen people of God, what a humble spirit, what a love for the Israelis!”

Damkani is no stranger to opposition from anti-Messianic groups in Israel.  He writes:  “Whenever we threaten the kingdom of darkness the enemies of the Gospel are not far. They are coming to (Damkani’s Hotel) Gilgal often, talk to our guests and the believers who come to visit - trying to convince them of their man-made religion and bring them against us. Some of the young believers are intimidated by that. We know that the religious people often have crafty methods, talk to employers or landlords in order to bring them against the believers they employ or rent apartments to - sadly often with success. Please pray especially for the young believers, pray that those attacks will only make them stronger and even more confident in what they believe. With all this said we see that the Lord always turns these curses and attacks into blessing and He is making use of them for His glory and for the salvation of many!”

The Sorko-Rams of Maoz Israel write:  “As you will be able to read in the upcoming Maoz Israel Report, Asher and Betty Intrater, who are now leading our Tel Aviv Congregation, are setting some goals for the congregation.  Please PRAY for the Lord's guidance and leading for Asher, Betty and elders. PRAY for our congregants to catch the vision of salvation of all Israel and be active in seeing this vision accomplished. PRAY for non-believers to be drawn to Tiferet Yeshua, where they can find answers and be saved. PRAY for the new believers believers (people have been coming to faith every week recently).”

Ron Cantor, another in leadership at the Tiferet Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem, asks for prayer as he and wife Elana move nearer to the congregation located south of Tel Aviv where rentals are from 30 to 40% higher than where they live north of Tel Aviv.  They need to be closer to the activity going on in the body of the congregation – at an affordable price, with a large living room good for hosting lots of people and they must be moved by the end of July.

Cantor also asks prayer for his mastery of Hebrew, which he desires to become more fluent;  for inspiration as he writes a sequel to his book Identity Theft; and also for his whole family.. . .one daughter, Danielle, is still serving in the Golan Heights and tensions are high there.

Please pray for all the Messianic families whose children and loved ones are on active duty now.  Pray for their military and government leaders to make wise decisions over all actions or inactions. Pray for the Messianic soldiers to be excellent, discerning and like a strong tower of refuge to their fellow soldiers in the field.

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue
Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:

Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Please continue to pray for Neriyah Arabov, a Chosen People minister in Bat Yam who needs a kidney transplant. He has a donor, but due to some compatibility issues, Neriyah is undergoing treatments now that they hope will remove the compatibility issues.  Pray for the treatments to be successful.   Please continue to pray for Katya Morrison at Tents of Mercy recovering from bone marrow transplant for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (see update below); Tom in the Galilee is believing for victory over cancer in Carmel.  Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the bomb blast – and that he would win the appeal for government recognition that he is a terror victim.  It would mean benefits for the continuing surgeries and legal expenses; Ariel of Succat Hallel; Elise Levine suffering from mysterious and debilitating leg pain for over a year.  Pray for Kay Wilson still suffering from PTSD after surviving a stabbing terrorism attack that her friend did not survive.   Keep Baby Netaley’s full recovery in your prayers. Please pray for Daniel Meyuseff who had to undergo surgery this week due to an intense infection. He is back home recovering, although doctors have not closed the incision because the infection is still dangerous.  Harvest of Asher asks for continued prayer for M. who had surgery not long ago and is now having difficulty with the correct amount and type of medication to regulate insulin. Please hold him up in prayer for multiple health issues!

From Guy Cohen in Acco  PRAISE REPORT! Elena has begun treatments and the medication she was prescribed has only been available for the last 3 years and is the most compatible for treating the specific type of cancer that she is being treated for. It was added to the benefits package only a short time ago and so instead of costing 30,000 shekels ($8,500) per month she receives it at no cost.  Hallelujah!  Please continue to pray for her full recovery and for the effects of the chemo and radiation treatments beginning this week - also for legal expenses that stem from her employer having failed to pay disability insurance as he was supposed to.

From Katya Morrison:  In about a week I am supposed to have another bone marrow biopsy and then in another 3 weeks, an appointment to discuss the findings, which I hope will be no leukemia.  Let’s pray for the miracle report of NO LEUKEMIA in Katya, and also that her immune system will continue to re-build to 100%, in the name of Yeshua.

Praying the Headlines

Inside the Weekly Summary Eddie Santoro reports on the gathering storm clouds of war around Israel.  Eddie has a gift for making the many issues plain. Please read.

Also, in other news, Jack Teitel, the ‘Jewish Terrorist’ appeals the verdict in his case to the Supreme Court, where it will be argued that the court ignored mental assessments.

Ha!  Two ironies here:
One, Ami Ortiz, who almost died in the bomb blast Teitel placed with the help of co-conspirators at the family doorstep, has been denied medical and legal benefits due to terrorism victims because Israel has deemed it impossible that a Jew-on-Jew bombing could be the result of terrorism.  Yet Teitel is continually referred to as “the Jewish terrorist” in the Israeli news media.  What is really impossible is for someone to not be responsible for their actions due to mental instability when they are involved in a co-conspiracy to commit the act of terrorism.  Now that is a double-whammy irony in my book.  Read more on this story inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Also, in other news, Israel Today reports that Yad L’Achim, the anti-christ activist group that Jack Teitel confessed to working with, have been targeting the a Messianic community in the coastal city of Bat Yam.  Read all about it inside the attached Weekly Summary.

"Three times in the year all your men shall appear before the Lord, the LORD God of Israel. For I will cast out the nations before you and enlarge your borders; neither will any man covet your land when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times in the year."
Exodus 34:23-24

The Messianic Israelis gathered with their families and the family of Yeshua at Yad HaShmonah for the annual Feast Day of Shauvuot.  Although the skies over the Messianic moshav were overcast it remained comfortable and dry while the rains blessedly poured out all around Israel.  Thank God for His rain, and faithful promises to His own.

Arrows from Zion
Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Each year at Shavuot, the Messianic families from all over Israel come up to Jerusalem for a day together in celebration before the LORD.  Almost everywhere else, people would consider rain about the worst thing that could happen on a picnic day like the one the Israeli Messianics enjoyed at Yad HaShmonah, but for Israelis, rain is always reason to rejoice.

David Lazarus of Beit Immanuel offers a great description of the Shavuot gathering including the unexpected blessing of rain:  “As the dawn broke on the early morning hours of the day of Festival the heavens opened up and poured down abundant "latter rains" over the entire country. Accompanied by roaring thunder and hair-raising lighting, Israel experienced one of the best spring storms in her modern history adding even more waters to the rising Sea of Galilee.

“Groups from Beer Sheva in the Negev and the northern Galilee called organizers earlier to find out if the annual Messianic Festival in the Judean Mountains had been cancelled. ‘No way,’ they were told. "If ever there was a joyful time to go up to Jerusalem it is right now." Over 2000 believers made their way up to the yearly festival and the blessings of abundant rains over the nation added an extra portion of joy to all.”

“For thousands of years Israelis have made this annual journey up to Jerusalem for Shavuot. It has always been and continues to be a unique and special time of bonding for the whole family. . . . the Messianic Jews of Israel also came bearing a wide variety of their gifts to honor their Lord and Messiah Yeshua. . . . The annual Gathering organized by the Messianic Jewish Alliance of Israel includes an open-air fair of local Messianic ministries, arts and crafts. Throughout the day folks walked among the many stalls to learn about recent activities and offerings from the local believers.”   Read more inside the Weekly Summary

This week Howard Bass who pastors the main congregation in Beer Sheva counts a few of the things that are unique to their congregation in the city, not the least of which are that they are the “only Beer Sheva congregation with intentional relationships with Palestinian Arab believers; and the” only Beer Sheva congregation fully engaged with wider Body of Messiah in Israel from different streams.”

In the normal scheme of things, when believers visit the Holy Land, Beer Sheva and Negev desert is not generally a stopping point either to see the biblical sites (outside of Masada) nor to visit with the local believers.  This is a shame on both counts, for one thing, as Howard points out in his explanation about their congregation serving as a “half way house” for many, God Himself came to Beer Sheva twice!

First He appeared once to visit with Abraham regarding Sodom’s destruction and also met there with Elijah after the prophet fled in fear from Jezebel.   I encourage you to open the attached Weekly Summary and get to know the Yeshua’s Inheritance congregation in Beer Sheva.  They need believers who will stand by them as much as the many ministries of Jerusalem do.

From the Tiberias Peniel Fellowship (Face of God) Daniel and Shirya Yahav are heavily involved in building up the young families which this congregation has plenty of! Some 58% of their 500 members are under the age of 30.  Their Shabbat school which has 45 volunteer teachers and helpers are ministering to about 160 children.  For the past few years Shirya has been developing and writing 3 years worth of curriculum for Messianic Shabbat school for three different age groups of children, and it is offered to all the fellowships of Israel to use.  The lessons are all original, in Hebrew and strictly based on both the Old and New Testaments taking in consideration of the “full biblical context, the land of the Bible, the Biblical feasts and Biblical customs.”

“During the last few months Daniel has been teaching a course on Building & Enriching Your Marriage to 3 different target groups. One in our fellowship building for all who are interested, one in a rehabilitation center which we support, and one to a group of pastors that he is meeting with regularly.” Pray for the LORD’s blessing on this work and the building up the congregational families on every level.

One prayer request the Yahav’s note is for the Messianic IDF soldiers: “Pray for protection on our soldiers, and especially for the believers. Pray for supernatural wisdom to fulfill their tasks & duties. Pray also for the salvation of many from among those who hate us all around us. Pray for the salvation of many Syrians, Egyptians, Lebanese, Iranian and those who live in Gaza & the West Bank.  Pray also for protection on the whole nation of Israel from all the threats that are being made literally from all directions!”

Also for their need for a larger meeting place as they are overflowing in the current premises.  Negotiations for a promising place broke down recently over an unexpected asking price of $5 million. They ask pray for God’s guidance and opening the right door for them to pass through at the right time.

Kobi and Shani Ferguson of Yeshua’s Israel are in the midst of traveling so this article is fresh on their minds:  The Top 20 Questions People Ask Us About Israel.  Bet your question is here too.  They write, “We never get bored of seeing peoples’ faces light as they finally feel able to wrap their minds around the topic of Israel on a spiritual, political and practical level.”

Ruth Nessim in Nahariya – 8 miles from the Lebanon border – notes the increased unease of Israelis over the northern border, with Hezballah seeking to assist Syrian Bashir Assad and other rebels seeking to finish him off.  Up for grabs are the chemical weapons (some perhaps from Saddam’s missing WMD?). Israeli jets have gone into action to destroy the weaponry, and Israelis on the northern border or understandably concerned, but as Ruth says, life goes on in spite of the tensions.

Ruth got a great compliment from her Arab plumber who attended a Christian school in his childhood, comparing her with the two Mennonite teachers he had that he believed had the love of God in their hearts for the Moslem children.  He told her, and you have the same love and peace in your heart, and I can look into your eyes because they tell the truth, and because you are properly dressed, I can sit and talk to you without averting my eyes, as I do with so many women!”  Isn’t this what it is about? That people we meet in everyday life can see the love of God in our hearts while we are just being ourselves?

Ruth asks for prayers over the situation in Syria:  “Many innocents are being killed in massacres of men, women and children, by fellow Moslems, because they are not Shiites or not Sunnis! Many are left homeless and destitute.  Pray for Israel’s precarious situation as both Syrian rebels and Iran are preparing to eliminate Israel, and for Israelis and Moslems to receive God’s salvation.”  She also asks prayer for two longtime and aged friends, survivors of the Holocaust, to receive Yeshua.

Cookie, who is the principal of the Makor HaTikvah Messianic Day School in Jerusalem thanks everyone for their prayers in the court situation they have encountered when applying for official licensing of the school.  She asks further prayers be made “for the school to obtain the needed documents within the set period.  And continue to PRAY for the school to be able to open its doors next year.”

Our friend Ann at Revive Israel Ministries in Jerusalem writes a report Welby, Gumbel, and Schonborn on an interview conducted by Nicky Gumbel is the Vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton Church in London and leader of the hugely successful "Alpha" program.  Quoting Christoph Schonborn is the Archbishop of Vienna, one of the most influential Cardinals at the Vatican,

"The deepest wound in the body of Christ is the wound between Israel and the Gentiles.  We are called now to ask the Lord to heal this wound by intense prayer that the time of the Gentiles be accomplished so that Israel may enjoy full salvation.  It is only through the cross that this can be achieved."  Schonborn said  of Gumbel and Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the official head of the Anglican Church, “Nicky, I was impressed by what you and Justin Welby said about your fathers - both German Jewish fathers. I also have some Jewish background. We all three have Jewish blood.”

Ann noted:  The fact that Welby, Gumbel, and Schonburn are all leaders of European Christianity, are devout believers in Yeshua, and have Jewish background, is a sign for our times. Let us pray for the full revelation of God's mystery about the relationship between Israel and the nations, Jew and Gentile, through Yeshua, who Himself is both Head of the Church (Ephesians 1:20-22) and the King of Israel (John 12:12-13).

On a similar note, we urge you to open the attached Weekly Summary to read Arni Klein’s article The Roots of the Orphan Spirit.  Over the past few years many have been ministered to as individuals suffering from an orphan spirit, but Arni notes there is a corporate level at the root:  “the Church’s separation from the roots of our faith has left as orphans caused us to realize that this of necessity would affect the Body at a corporate level. . . . There is a mindset in which we look to receive of this commonwealth so as to then have it as our own apart from an ongoing connection with the children of Israel. “

Ron Cantor writes about his recent preaching in Rome:  “As I prepared to minister I felt a tinge of fear. After spending the past two years working on Identity Theft, which had me researching the history of the Roman Catholic Church, I knew that I was not supposed to simply preach a normal message. I had to address the sins of Rome. In fact, I felt quite strongly that I was to preach to “Rome” from Romans 11.”

Please note the attitude of these last two reports: This is not a Jonah style begrudging reluctance toward Rome, but a posture of redemptive expectation.  This is the high calling to be repairers of the breach.  Let’s pray for more to prepare their own hearts to minister in this same redemptive spirit.

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue
Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:

Please pray for Daniel Meyuseff who had to undergo surgery this week due to an intense infection. He is back home recovering, although doctors have not closed the incision because the infection is still dangerous. Guy Cohen in Acco reports that the congregant he requested urgent prayer for has been found to have 2 more tumors, one in the lung and one in the uterus. Please pray for this lady and her family, as she just had a tumor removed from her brain.   Please continue to intercede for Katya Morrison at Tents of Mercy recovering from bone marrow transplant for Acute Myeloid Leukemia and a second round of chemo following the transplant; Tom in the Galilee is believing for victory over cancer in Carmel.

Update for Katya Morrison:  In about a week Katya Morrison will go back to the doctor to check on her progress and receive some more of my brother’s cells. She thanks you for your prayers and could use our prayers for her immune system to be built up.  If anyone would like to receive health prayer updates for Katya, please email mosheandkatya@gmail.com

Update from Guy Cohen for Elena:  Please continue to pray for Elena and her daughter Marina.  Prayer that Elena will not suffer from side effects of the radiation treatments and other medication. Also for Marina as she attends to all the necessary paperwork, translating for her mother, work and her grandmother who lives with them.

Roots of the Orphan Spirit
by Arni Klein of Emmaus Way

We have already written about connecting with ICF (International Christian Fellowship) in Munich.  As planned, I spent a day sharing with the main leaders on the topics of Israel and intimacy with God.  By the end of the day the Lord had confirmed the word with signs, visions, and Scripture.  The founding pastor said that without connection to their Hebrew roots, they are as orphans.  What an amazing and perceptive statement.

In recent years we have often heard the term “orphan spirit” used to describe a spiritual malady afflicting many in the Body of Messiah.  Some wonderful seminars and ministries have been raised up to help individuals overcome this and come to the knowledge of Father’s love and care for His children.  Hearing the comment (noted above) from our friend at ICF about how the Church’s separation from the roots of our faith has left as orphans caused us to realize that this of necessity would affect the Body at a corporate level.

Tall tales and short stories of intriguing irony from a park bench at the edge of the galaxy

A new book of short stories by Moshe Morrison |  I’ve been writing sermons, Bible studies, articles, poems and Purim plays for over 40 years. However, it has only been recently that I have begun writing short stories. What do I write about? The foibles and foolishness of man and the sovereignty and wisdom of God. But be forewarned, these are not standard fare. I have some of Rod Serling’s (creator of the Twilight Zone) DNA as well as being influenced by Mad magazine and numerous other strange sources. Mix it all together with a Biblical world-view and, well, just buy the book; you’ll see!

Priority Prayer Focus

Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua Congregation writes
In light of the significance of the day of Shavuot in history and with tremendous expectation for all that God has promised us, we will be gathering with believers from throughout Israel on Tuesday evening to spend the entire night from 10 PM to10AM Jerusalem time to fast and pray together. There will be a live feed from our prayer meeting and we encourage you to join us as we seek God for his end time revival. As the meeting will be originating from Jerusalem and most of the attendees will be Hebrew speakers, much of the content will be in Hebrew but we will try and give a general update of topics and some translation in English.

Please consider yourself invited to come and participate with us. We look forward to your presence and believe that God will do mighty things as together we cry out for the manifestation of his end time promises in our day.  The link to the live stream for all-nightprayer and fasting on Pentecost (Shavuot) starting on May 14 3PM to 3 AM EST

Arrows from Zion
Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Shavuot is on the minds of all in Israel as the Messianic community there observes biblical holy day which God commanded of the children of Israel to observe forever.  There is so much of God’s love revealed in the Messianic understanding of the biblical holy days because the richness and depth go beyond traditions into the picture-stories God embedded into them for Israel’s salvation specifically.  Through Messianic eyes, we see how God opens Jewish eyes to see the hidden mysteries of these holy days.

Out of Zion’s David Silver shares this nugget of spiritual gold from the traditional view of Shavuot in relation to the Messianic view:  “What happened in Jerusalem about 2000 years ago was an exact fulfillment of what happened at Mt Sinai about 1500 years earlier.  At the original Shavuot God came down and wrote his Torah on tablets of stone.  At the re-fulfillment in Jerusalem God came down again and wrote His same Torah on the hearts of the disciples. At Mt Sinai 3,000 people died.  At the re-fulfillment 3,000 were born again -  exactly the same number!  Do you think God is trying to tell us something - maybe to give us a clue to help us see that His feasts are still important and that ALL of His people should celebrate His appointed times."

Pray for the Jewish people worldwide during this Shavuot-Pentecost holiday period, which is always just the right circumstance for the Holy Spirit to make the Word come alive – anointing tradition with revelation unto salvation.

The Levines of the HaTikva Project thank everyone for their prayers for Evan’s wife Elisa who has been suffering from leg pain that no medical testing has been able to pinpoint the cause of. However, they report that of late the pain has been manageable enough for Elisa to return to her profession.  Continue to pray for complete healing of the issue.

The HaTikva Project is a very worthwhile ministry distributing to the needs within the Messianic community in Israel primarily.  Honestly, there are so many needs throughout the believing community. Let’s pray for the floodgates to be opened toward each ministry that is endeavoring to minister aid to those of the household of faith in Israel.

Eitan Shishkoff of Tents of Mercy writes of the times we live in and wanting more of the LORD in order to fully be all He has chosen us to become – faithful servants.  In October they will host the Baruch HaBa Conference & Tour in conjunction with Revive Israel Ministries.  I can recommend this tour which gives not only a tour of the ancient sites, but even more importantly in my view, gives a tour of their ministry network.  I took this tour in 2005 and it was a super blessing to see where Messianics in Israel are worshipping and to hear their hearts for their communities.  More info inside the Weekly Summary.

Shishkoff asks for prayer over the coming opening of the Tents of Mercy Coffee House and Humanitarian Soup Kitchen.  Specifically pray for the right personnel, Yeshua’s Presence and funding for superb operations.

Also pray for the Harvest summer camp (Katzir) which is schedule for July 17-24.  Prayer requests are for the best camp location, maximum participation, abundant financial support to subsidize the camp.  The theme this year is Walking with Yeshua.

Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua, who issued the invitation to the Shavuot prayer vigil at the beginning of this prayer letter, also wrote about the counting off of 50 days between Passover and Shavuot, and other observations about the holy day.  Please read inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Leon Mazin of the Return to Zion congregation in Haifa share a picture of their new congregational facility – which looks fantastic!  Mazel Tov!  He also shares his first Shabbat teaching in the new worship facility, “BaMidbar (In the Desert)”.    If you have Russian Messianic Jewish friends, we recommend the video teachings by Mazin at Oasis Media,  a media ministry of Return to Zion.    Download the newsletter in a PDF format here.

Howard Bass writes about the big gathering of believers for the Shavuot holiday at Yad Hashmonah on Wednesday.  “This annual event is unique here in that it presents the best opportunity for whole families to come together and rejoice in our God, and to fellowship together, especially during the picnic time.”  Pray for this event to be blessed as Messianic Israel gathers together as family in Messiah.

Israel Pochtar writes about their first successful year offering a bible school course as the first class recently graduated.  He asks prayers to be made that the number of students for next year will multiply even more, and for this course to turn out a team of well equipped workers for the harvest. Amen!

Pochtar has a praise report on the persecution of their ministry administrator after an intimidating encounter with religious opposition resulted in charges being filed against her!  After pursuing legal help, the case has been dropped – but keep the police offices throughout Israel in your prayers because it is a systemic failure for police not to protect the believers in Yeshua and to side with their persecutors.

Ron Cantor also shares a video explanation of Shavuot.  [Click Here]

Israel Pochtar shares more details of the two sisters in Eilat facing breast cancer inside the attached Weeky Summary.

Teaching Articles

Donna Diorio
Over the weekend I got a really distressing email from a friend in Israel. She was asking for help for another friend who has some major financial stresses bearing down.  Having to move to a new place with no idea where they will land in the sky-high rental rates of Jerusalem; 3 major payments coming up on a car they had to have for getting around with a physical disability. I've known this person literally for years through phone and email contact with the U.S. HQ of a major Messianic ministry. Finally this couple made the move to Israel themselves, the wife working in one ministry and the husband working in another. Still, the wife told me a while back, the same day their pay checks come in, they pay their life support bills and sit the rest of the month with no money.

It is not bad management of money, it is just incredibly expensive to live in Israel and the pay level is low. Almost every ministry I know over there survives by raising support outside of the country. Obviously this is easier for some than for others. I can't tell you how many people I know who have moved to Israel and then just been beat down by the economic struggle. Most of us have no idea what it is like to live chronically economically deprived, and we suspect that anyone who does is doing something wrong or sinful. Not so.

When I first started Israelprayer.com twelve years ago, this is one of major motivating factors because I saw how millions upon millions of Christian dollars were continually flowing into Israel and only a drop in the bucket was reaching Israeli ministries. I knew of pastors of congregations who had to work secular jobs in order to support their families, while trying to minister to all the spiritual needs of their congregations. Most of the staff people at even the major Israeli ministries have to raise support from outside of Israel to make ends meet.

Meanwhile Christians are happy to give their millions to people who NEVER bless anyone of our faith in Israel. People like Rabbi Eckstein who draws a cool million dollars of those donations for his own annual salary.

It is just wrong for Yeshua's brothers and sisters in the faith - and laboring in HIS harvest in Israel - to be in continual economic stress, while rabbi Eckstein smokes his cigar on the balcony of his Jerusalem apartment in contentment with his lion's share of Christian donations to Israel.

Just wondering where our priorities are and why it is so hard to get Christians to reconsider their Israel giving.
