Priority Prayer Focus July 30, 2014
Once again we are keeping focus on the Israel-Hamas war which means that there are much longer excerpts inside the attached PDF Weekly Summary from the Israeli ministry prayer letters that deal with war specifics. Some of the usual Arrows from Zion features have been temporarily disbanded in order to make space for the additional war coverage from spiritual perspectives in the Body of Messiah in Israel. Just as we are about to mail this out we saw that the Israeli Security Council has agreed to continue the war, and not to pull back at this time. This is a good decision.
Contact information for all the ministries is included inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel
Arni Klein of Emmaus Way in the Galilee starts us off this week with a prophetic perspective of the current war. He writes: “For three weeks, literally day and night, I have been reaching out to the Lord for the/a spiritual perspective of this moment. I have been literally able to think of nothing else.”
There is no way to do justice to the ground he
covers – and we can’t even get it all in this week but it will carry over to
next week inside the attached PDF Weekly Summary. From Arni’s perspective, what Israel is going
through is a process that God is taking them through in order to come to the
point that they may be saved.
He writes: “As God fixed Pharaoh on a course to destruction, so has Hamas been strengthened. (The word translated as “hardened” concerning Pharaoh’s heart in Ex.9:12 actually means “strengthened.”) Amidst the rising protests over the number of innocent deaths in Gaza, there is still a clear denouncement of Hamas’ methods and tactics by many world leaders. Finally some people are paying attention to the abject evil of using women and children as shields for their tunnels and rockets.”

Continuing, “We are encouraged by the strength
and resolve presently being expressed by our leaders. For them to turn from the world, whether they
realize it or not, they are turning to, or at least opening the door for the
God of Israel to come in. As hard as
this moment is, we believe it to be just a warm-up for what lies ahead.” Please

From Charlotte and Uzi Lotan in the Samaria
Hills, I am playing catch up with a prayer letter that I missed the first time
around but posted on my IsraelWatcher blog as soon as I rediscovered it. You can read it there, When
Some of the Wounded IDF Soldiers Open Up – the gist being that as
some of the IDF soldiers have been wounded and are being treated in hospitals,
their stories of trauma are hard to bottle up.
As a wounded soldier in the Yom Kippur War, Uzi has some insight into
how deeply these soldiers are being affected by the atrocities that Hamas is
inflicting on its own people. While the
world paints Israel as “heartless” about the innocent Gaza children, it is
really Hamas that are the heartless ones about their own people.
Asher Intrater of Revive Israel in Jerusalem also has compassion for the Gaza People on mind. He writes, “The more compassion we have for the Gazan people, the more we should want to destroy the Hamas dictatorship. The less compassion we have for them, the easier it would be to accept a simple cease fire and let Hamas continue to rule. Let us remember that God is the YHVH of Armies. He can give a spirit of victory. Wars can be won. Righteousness can prevail. God is not afraid. To this date, He has never lost a war. Yeshua is the Commander of the Armies of Heaven (Exodus 15:2, Joshua 5:13, Revelation 19:11).”

Some Prayer Points from Revive Israel:
• Pray for the brave Arab Christians in Gaza, Palestine and throughout the Muslim world.
•
Pray for the people of Israel, whom the war is influencing in a deep
spiritual way. There is a softening of hearts, a seeking of God, a unity of
national identity, and an evaluation of moral values.
•
Pray for continuing wisdom for Netanyahu, Ganz, Yaalon, the cabinet
members, and the IDF commanders, as they make difficult decisions concerning
strategic, tactical and diplomatic issues.
•
Pray for all the wounded to be healed, especially "I", a young
Messianic believer and paratrooper, who attended our congregation in Tel Aviv.
•
Pray for the soldiers of Messianic families serving in the IDF during
this war (we estimate about 400).
Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem writes, “A world accustomed to judging success, failure, and fairness "by the numbers" views this huge disparity-and levels blame. It is true that, faced with irrefutable proof, there has this time been more acknowledgment and denunciation by world leaders of Hamas' shameless use of 'human shields'-but in the end "numbers don't lie," and the media in many countries continues to focus upon the agony on the ground in Gaza, with Israel, not Hamas, being the ruthless, "disproportional" perpetrator.”
Many Americans are asking what was US Sec of
State John Kerry thinking to propose such a lop-sided cease fire proposal to
Israel. I believe Martin hits the nail
on the head when he writes, speaking of the Kerry deal with Qatar presented to
Israel: “…a country's efforts to preserve strategic alliances with nations
opposed to the Jewish state may in times of crisis affect the integrity of that
country's dealings with its Israeli ally herself.”
But the US Legislature and people of the US
continue to stand with Israel, this week, Sarvis notes, “an enormous amount of
funding will be released from the United States to replace the hundreds of Iron
Dome missiles expended by Israel in defending its cities.” If the Obama administration does not hold it
hostage to an unpopular illegal immigrant funding. Pray that pressure on the White House will
force him to release the funds for Iron Dome.
Martin writes, “It is God's grace that the Muslim Brotherhood is no longer in control of Egypt. Although there is certainly no open warmth between Egypt and Israel, at times during the present conflict, the two countries might almost be seen as working together as close allies. On Wednesday night, 23rd July, the Egyptian army thwarted the attack of a suicide bomber running towards an Israeli border post. They also destroyed a truck in the northern Sinai loaded with Grad rockets, smuggled out of Gaza through tunnels, to be fired back into Israel from the Sinai.”
Sarvis adds these Prayer Points:
* That Operation "Protective Edge" would receive divine direction and counsels from On High (Psalm 33:11). That it may be completed as soon as possible-but that everything which "He who watches over Israel" knows needs to be uncovered will be uncovered; everything destroyed, destroyed; everything dismantled, dismantled. That rocket-launching systems, terror tunnels and under-ground command centers would be discovered and neutralized.

That rocket-launching systems, terror tunnels and under-ground command centers would be discovered and neutralized.
*For
protection for Israeli troops going into harm's way. pray against traps,
ambushes, booby-traps.
*For
protection of the innocent; for mercy to be shown when possible. For comfort
from God on those who mourn, are bereaved and have suffered loss during this
time.
*Zechariah
9:5-7 speaks of this region, how a "king shall perish from Gaza". how
God will "cut off the pride of Philistia. I will take away its blood from
its mouth, and its abominations from between its teeth." The end-result of
deliverance from this violent ruling power is that the people under its
dominion shall "be a remnant for our God; it shall be like a clan in
Judah!"
*That
the spirit power binding the Gazan people will be broken-that even as they are
surrounded by a horror of death, destruction, hatred, anger and desolate
hopelessness-there would break forth revelation from "The Life-God"
-Elohim Chaim-a Light shining in the absolute darkness to lead them to a Father
God who loves them and is drawing them to hope and a future.
*Protection
over the Arab believers who live (and have endured much persecution) within the
Gaza Strip. Pray for encouragement, and signs and wonders in the power of the
Holy Spirit.

From Howard Bass in Beer Sheva – close to Gaza and just down the street where many of the wounded are being treated at Soroko Hospital: “God is not a pacifist, yet has provided the only peace plan to bring all war of every kind, including among animals and from bacteria and viruses, to an end. … We are called to become disciples of Yeshua/Jesus – not of anyone else, nor of any philosophy or cause or peer group. Spiritual maturity of believers is seen in our growing in discernment between good and evil. (Heb 5:14) We must know that our God is good, and that the god of Islam is evil! Otherwise, we are not going to engage in spiritual warfare any more successfully than we would in carnal warfare if we did not believe that we had a good and righteous need to fight, and to win. “

Continuing, “The bogus claim of
disproportionality of numbers of dead persons in Gaza as compared with the
number of dead in Israel is irrevelant, and even hypocritical. Was it
proportional when Israel released more than 1000 Palestinian terrorists in
order to get back one Israeli soldier from Gaza captured by Hamas? Was it proportional when Israel released more
than 400 terrorists in order to get back three dead Israeli soldiers from
Hizbollah in Lebanon? (I also wrote about this matter of proportionality in a peak
during the 2009 war in Gaza here
and here).
Howard writes, “I write these things with some
fear and trepidation: I am not a
'right-wing fanatic', nor a 'hawk', nor a war-monger, nor against peace. I write these things to give, I hope, some facts
for Bible-believers to pray with understanding, and not to be confused or
deceived or ignorant, which contributes to those very things. What must the
Holy Spirit do to bring unity -- based on God's truth, God's righteousness, and
God's love -- within the Body of Messiah, which is the prayer of our Lord?”
Our one new man unity ultimately will rely on
our ability to receive and move in the Truth, which is not relative but is the
truth as God sees it.
Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua congregation in
Jerusalem writes, “This has been a couple of very difficult days here in
Israel. Yesterday, a day that began with the promise of a cease fire, ten
Israeli soldiers were killed, making it the most costly in this already long
war.”
Continuing, “At this moment Gaza is being rocked by huge explosions as Israel continues it offensive. The media is reporting that all sides have agreed to another humanitarian cease fire. Will Hamas observe the cease fire or will this be as all the past ceasefires? Even now, the rocket attacks on Israel are continuing. In many ways the decisions that Hamas makes in the coming hours will have a profound effect on what course the government decides to follow; whether to withdraw the troops or to have them remain where they are; to expand the offensive and further weaken Hamas or to launch an all out offensive whose goal would be to destroy Hamas. The security cabinet … decisions they must make are complex and will have long reaching effects.”
Santoro adds these Prayer Points:
Thousands of Israeli men are in danger as they battle in the Gaza Strip. Pray for God's protection on each one of them. Pray for the families of those who lost loved ones in the current battle

Pray
that God would raise up voices of truth to counter the anti-Israel dialogue
that is so prevalent.
Pray
for wisdom for Israel's leaders as they consider complex decisions.
Pray
against an outbreak of Palestinian violence in Judea, Samaria, Jerusalem and
Arab towns in other parts of Israel.
Pray
for the knowledge of Yeshua to be manifest in the hearts of many, both Jews and
Palestinians during this war. Pray that
the Palestinian people would begin to see how they are being exploited by their
leaders.
Israel Pochtar reporting from Beit Hallel in Ashdod
right near the Gaza border: “Three
weeks of continuous rocket fire and not having a moment's rest from the sirens,
not even at night. To say these have
been challenging days, would be an understatement. … In the
mean time, we haven't stopped doing intense outreach; bringing people
humanitarian relief packages, visiting families at home, praying with them and
encouraging, especially coming to them with teams from abroad who have just
showed an amazing outpouring of love and care. … We
can honestly say, the challenges now haven't hindered or stopped us from
continuing our ministry work. If anything, we have been trying to do more,
while there's greater need, despite somewhat limited resources.”
You can read Pochtar’s testimony inside the
attached PDF Weekly Summary were his son and wife were miraculously spared the
rain of shrapnel that came down as a rocket was intercepted above their heads!
Praise the Lord! He also writes about how hard it is to see his little girl who weighs no more than 100 lbs in army gear with a weapon doing her IDF training. Pray for all the IDF soldiers and their families, and especially lift up those who are believers taking part in this war for God to protect and use them mightily.

Avi and Chaya Mizrachi of the Adonai Roi
congregation & Dugit ministry in Tel Aviv send a video of their second
ministry trip in the southern hard it communities. Pray for their protection as they bring
relieve to civilians and soldiers in the stress-filled areas close to Gaza
where rockets are flying overhead continually.

Israelprayer: We hope you understand that
these War Reports are a little different from our usual Arrows from Zion. The reason is we know that many of you are
not getting good news reports that portray the conflict fairly. So we are purposely attempting to fill in the
gaps for you – not only with prayer points, but also with information you might
now otherwise see.
