Priority Prayer Focus Oct 8, 2014

This evening begins the biblical Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot, which holds great prophetic significance dealing with the salvation of the people Israel.  Many Christians believe that all of the biblical “Feasts of the LORD” have already been fully fulfilled in Jesus. Certainly much of the prophetic significance has but specifically speaking to the salvation of “all Israel” as the apostle Paul wrote about, these feasts which God commanded the Jews to observe “forever” specifically address prophetic destiny for the Jewish people, Israel.  That doesn’t mean that Christians have no reason to look into these feasts, to unearth the prophetic meanings for Israel’s destiny.  No – we have a part to play in these things and God has hidden the keys to our understanding our role throughout the Bible. 

From the Feasts, to Ruth, Esther, Romans, Ephesians there is buried treasure from God – the solid gold of understanding our role in the salvation of Israel.  Israel’s salvation is depicted in the Book of Ruth and the fuller role of how the Church is to be like Ruth (Ruth-like, not Ruth-less) in that labor.is We are to enter into this place as the season of harvest has begun.

This is a day where many have itching ears, wanting to hear “something new” but not necessarily something that actually gives us a practical way to position ourselves into what God is doing in the salvation of Israel in this season.  For those who truly want to be in the full flow of God’s purposes they will have to come to terms with the truth that God still has a plan for Israel's salvation through Yeshua.  – Donna Diorio

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

On Yom Kippur, in what has become an annual gathering for five congregations in Jerusalem, 230 Messianic Jews came together on the first Messianic Kibbutz in Israel for fasting, worship and prayer. Eddie Santoro of Ahavat Yeshua congregation, gives us an encouraging report of the gathering of this prophetic Feast of the Lord in the hills just outside of Jerusalem.  Santoro reports a sense of power and anointing to labor together to see “all Israel saved” was experienced by the end of the final meeting of the conference.

Santoro writes, “Please join us in prayer as we continue to press on in our calling in Jerusalem. The battles are many, the resistance is great but we are freshly encouraged and expect new breakthroughs in the coming days.”

Then, just as soon as Yom Kippur came to an end, they returned home and immediately began to build their sukkot for the Feast of Tabernacles.    “All over Israel, like mushrooms after a summer rain, these colorful succahs spring up. Restaurants build them on the street in front of their establishments so that the people can fulfill the blessing of eating in a Succah, apartment house decks are transformed as these little booths are erected on them and the municipalities deliberately trim the local palm trees to ensure that people will have plenty of "froms" to put on the roof of their Succahs.”

“For seven wonderful days the frenetic pace of this nation will slow down as people observe this joyous Feast. Families will gather together to eat sumptuous meals in their Succahs, the nation's government offices will all close, children will have an extended vacation from their classes and the nation will observe two national holidays on the first and last day of the Feast. In addition, many people will also only work half days during the entire seven days of the Feast. . . . Please pray that God's purposes would be fulfilled and that a testimony of the goodness and love of Yeshua would touch many of our unsaved guests.”

Pray also for the many Christian tourists who pour into Israel during the High Holy Days.  Pray that many will move beyond a fascination for the unfamiliar biblical holy days of the Jews, into seeing how the worldwide Body of the LORD connects to the Israeli Body of the LORD for increase in the LORD’s harvest.

Israel Pochtar of the Ashdod Beit Hallel congregation, gives us a great teaching on the Sukkot feast inside the attached Weekly Summary PDF.

Pochtar also gives us a beautiful testimony of being called out one night when he was very tired to pray for a man dying of cancer.  Pochtar felt a strong stirring and even urgency to go, so he did and spent three hours there talking with the son and daughter of the man, both in their early thirties. At that point Pochtar asked them if they would like to receive Yeshua as their Messiah – they did and prayed to do so. Israel writes, “Immediately the man's son told me he felt a burden was lifted from him and he felt peace. He confessed that for a long time he held an offence against God for "allowing" this to happen to his father. He said his father was a good man all his life and didn't deserve this. He held a deep grudge against God, and only after we spoke about his father, he realized God had nothing to do with it, since his father was actually an atheist all his life.” 

“It was such an amazing moment for me,” Pochtar writes, “being a pastor of a large congregation, leading a ministry, going back to basics and the simplicity of service, and ministering salvation to two people. Simply leading them to Yeshua and bringing salvation into their home. To me it has been an incredible highlight of this feast of Tabernacles, when God comes into people's homes and dwells with them.” 

In a couple of days Pochtar’s congregation will take part in a gospel outreach event with Sid Roth in Jerusalem.  “We'll be taking 12 buses with over 500 non-believers on a special tour in Jerusalem and finishing it with a special gospel celebration event.  We know many will be touched, receive prayer and it will be a powerful night. Davis also asks prayer for many outreaches that the Carmel Assembly will be conducting during the Sukkot feast days.  Truly, these feast days become important times for believers all over Israel – the prayers of the international Church are so welcome and needed.
