Recently news reports of political upsets across the nations – in the UK, the EU, in Israel and even in the United States – the secular reporters have described election results as political “earthquakes.” That, of course brings to mind the prophetic references to how in the last days there will be earthquakes in diverse places as the nations and kingdoms of the earth are shaken.
Too often our focus has been on the ‘scary’ aspects of the last days. But God uses earthquakes for good, like for example in Acts 16:26 when a great earthquake shook the bars of a prison where the apostle Paul and Silas were being held prisoner. All the prison bar doors were shaken open and all the bands of the prisoners were loosed.

Earthquakes sometimes break people out of the things that have bound them. Let’s look for God’s intentions in the political developments in the nations. It may be the loosing of many Jews in the nations to break out of what was a comfort zone to make their way to Israel.

Whatever the dark advances we are seeing in
the world by the enemy, let it not be said that the kingdom of the Lord is
standing in place! That is surely not the case – it is only that God moves in
mysterious ways, meaning under the radar.
If you are not looking for what God is orchestrating then you could
conclude that all the future holds is doom & gloom. Thank God we can know better and we have to
look no farther than what God is doing in Israel today among the community of
faith in Yeshua that is being advanced across the Land!
We start this week by an accounting by Eitan
Shishkoff about the Tents of Mercy network which he leads in northern Israel, Apostolic
Restoration in Israel | Pioneers and Planters . Shishkoff writes of how they took a bold
step in 2001 to begin to send out congregation planters – to multiply
congregations rather than simply add members to mother congregation. Now the network is made up of five
congregations, each able to generate new congregation planting teams. This is a key of apostolic ministry in
Israel, to multiply and not simply add.
Shishkoff writes, “I fully believe that we are
seeing apostolic life restored in Israel. The way of life exemplified by
the 1st century Messianic Jewish apostles was one of bringing Yeshua's
redemption to unreached population hubs. Then, communities of believers were formed
in order to strengthen their faith, celebrate their salvation, and draw their
friends and neighbors into the kingdom.”

and vision, and the other networks that are being formed, like that which Asher
Intrater leads in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
The Beer Sheva congregation which is in the
Negev desert and led by Howard Bass, has gone to its summer meeting schedule of
meeting on Friday evenings instead of the normal Saturday mornings. This is to meet when their soaring desert
temps are the most comfortable during the summer, I the evenings. When in
Israel, Howard extends an open invitation to come visit.
The Beer Sheva congregation, like many across
the country, have been asking for prayers for their teens. Howard reports that seven of their teens have
expressed interest in being baptized, and there is much rejoicing as these are
individual decisions of commitment being made.
Howard explains, “In Israel, among the Jewish people, anyone who has
been baptized as a believer in Yeshua is no longer considered Jewish. Even my own parents never fully accepted that
I was still a Jew after becoming a believer and being baptized. This is a deeply ingrained reaction among
even secular Jews, which is a major reason for the reluctance of Jewish people
to believe the truth of who Jesus is.”
That is insight you can take to prayer closet, as you see prayers for these teens goes a bit beyond what we may have considered before. In fact Howard adds this insight: “We know of Jewish people here in Israel who do believe in Yeshua, but refuse to be baptized out of the fear of no longer being considered Jewish, but only Christian. Please pray for a Holy Spirit revelation and conviction regarding this.” Pray for the deeper significance of baptism to come forward in Israel, how we are raised from death to a powerful new life.

The Bass family are grateful for your prayers
for their son who is currently in a stressful command position in the IDF which
goes on for another 9 months before he returns to his own unit. Please pray for all of the Messianic IDF
soldiers. They have been a strong
witness to their fellow soldiers and leadership for the qualities of Messianic
believers. Pray for God’s grace, wisdom,
strength, courage, boldness and discernment in all their ways.
From Passover to Shavuot the congregation on
the top of Mount Carmel, Kehilat (congregation) HaCarmel, had a 50-day prayer
surge with a focus on their annual “Ruth” musical drama on May 31st. They report that the worship center was “swarming
with visitors, both new immigrants, as well as ‘sabra’ native-born Israelis.” Two bus-loads of Russian-speaking immigrants
heard Dani Sayag’s testimony and man Israeli visitors answered the altar call
at the end of the Ruth production and message.
Karen and David Davis, leaders of Kehilat HaCarmel, ask for your prayers
as they follow up all of the seekers.
David Davis also writes about being “poured
out” and relates an experience they had at the Times Square Church with David
Wilkerson who was a great supporter and encourager of many of the Israeli

These ‘fathers’ in the church to Israeli Messianic leaders, like David Wilkerson, Derek Prince and Don Finto, have played an instrumental part the raising up of the Body in Israel. It is the fathers who pass along the sense of acceptance and value to the sons, and it is no wonder these church leaders are so honored among Israeli ministry leaders for their fathering relationships . Those who have been fathered well, father well.

The Carmel assembly also puts out a call to
intercessors visiting Israel writing, “We are greatly encouraged by the
increase in visiting prayer groups from all over the world who have come to
Mount Carmel to stand with us and to pour themselves out in intercession on
behalf of Israel. Please let us know if you are planning a group visit to
Israel and would like to schedule a time of worship and prayer with us at

In Kfar Saba the Hamaayan congregation
(Wellspring) led by Tony and Orna Sperandeo are celebrating the 25th
anniversary of their congregation. In
the midst of the celebrations God is sending ministers and believers from the
nations – China, Sri Lanka and India.
There are many guest workers in Israel serving the elderly, and they are
very hungry for the gospel too. In the
midst of all this, congregation has begun to prepare for an expected influx of
new immigrants from places like the Ukraine.
The increasing troubles in the nations are urging many Jews to begin to
make Israel home. Is this not the Lord’s
purpose?
Part of the preparation for new immigrants and
also for expanding their tent pegs for ministry to their youth has involved
moves to purchase more space in building – 2150 sq ft basement – that will cost
a total of $215,000. Pray for this
congregation, for helpers in the nations to see this as the spiritual
investment that it is. Also, if you are
interested in serving a call to help more hands on, read about a 2-week
opportunity to serve in this congregation and to be taught by the

The Myeuseff’s (who are also a part of the
Hamaayan congregation) send their prayer
report about how the family has been continuing in outreach in their community,
especially among the ‘widows and orphans’.
They are also reaching some from the ultra-Orthodox Mea Shearim community
who have left the orthodox lifestyle. Danny
is seeking a new garden location planted with olive trees where he can fulfill
his vision for a model of the Tabernacle.
They ask for prayer over the prospects.
We have an update from Ronit Bender who serves
out of the Carmel congregation, and who recently lost her husband Tom. During their marriage, the Benders spent a
lot of their time reaching out to Druze youth in their village. Ronit has since had to move, but it seems the
draw to reach out to young people is still very present in her. She relates a recent blessing during a recent
service at HaCarmel.
Ronit also reported something we have heard
before from Israeli ministries, how mail had been stolen from her locked
mailbox – and after reporting the complaint to the mailbox then two other
pieces of mail that had been delayed quite a while showed up suddenly! Whenever possible, if you are donating to
Israeli ministries, consider using their PayPal accounts or direct deposits
instead of mailing money to their PO Boxes.

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the
tongue
Please keep in prayer the Israeli
believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:
- Prayer request from Hamaayan Congregation for D, one of our youth to have a perfect recovery from a dangerous illness.
- Pray for Messianic leader Marcel Rebiai of Shemen Sasson congregation in Jerusalem as he recovers from major back surgery.
- Arni & Yonit Klein of Emmaus Way request prayers for staff in the U.S. (Becky and Keith) and in Germany (Hannah) as they heal from extremely serious injuries received in accidents.
- Four elder ministry leaders in Israel, are dealing with Parkinson’s which is a neurological syndrome. Since they have not shared this information, I will just ask for you to please pray for them each to be able to continue to live normal lives, and for the hand of the LORD to bless them with healing.
- Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been quite a long while since we heard any update, if any of you in Israel can input new information it would be appreciated.
- Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the Purim 2008 bomb blast – all this time later there are still painful procedures, lack of recognition from the government of this terror victim status.
- Guy Cohen of Harvest of Asher asks for continued prayer for Marlene’s physical healing and financial miracle needed. For Misha, who has diabetes & was hospitalized w/infection and blood clot in his leg; for V’s son; for O who fell on the bus.
