Priority Prayer Focus & Praying the Headlines

With the explosion of foreign policy developments on 9/11 increasing the urgency of Americans in the valley of decision of what type of leadership the USA is going to choose in November elections, Asher Intrater’s call to believers worldwide to pray for these elections becomes all the more worthy of highlighting here.

This week commemorates the great Twin Towers terrorist attack of 9/11. Every year September 11 is close to the Feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah, Rosh Hashanna). This year the time is approaching the presidential election between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney.  

For those of us who do not live in the US, American politics may not seem relevant. Yet the President of the United States wields more political influence and authority than any other position in the world. Therefore the election of the US President has significance for all nations. Since this [Revive Israel] update goes out to 16 language groups, we are asking here particularly for those not in the US to pray for God's will to be done, for the President, the Congress, the Senate, and State elections.

Daniel 2:21 – God removes kings and raises up kings.

Daniel 4:17; 4:25; 4:32; 5:21 – The Most High rules in the kingdom of men, gives it to whomever He chooses…

Let us remember that God has power to intervene in the governments of men, and He will respond to our fervent prayers.

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

The Carmel congregation of David Davis, as well as the Tents of Mercy network of congregations are inviting believers in the nations to join with their respective congregations days of fasting and prayer which is going on now and will end at the end of Yom Kippur.  Davis writes, “we will be fasting, watching and praying for the security and salvation of our nation…. Pray for increased presence of the Lord in all of our Shabbat meetings…. for the Spirit of revelation to be released upon our Israeli visitors.”

The prayer and fasting at Tents of Mercy are a pre-Rosh HaShana/Yom Kippur fast on Sunday, Sept 9 and Thursday, Sept 13.  Eitan Shishkoff writes, “Whatever portion of these five days you are able to skip meals, we’ll be grateful.  This strengthens our commitment and unifies us with intercessors who are beyond the local area…..  The One who has the key of David, is the King of Israel.  To Him is our allegiance, obedience and reverence.  As we empty ourselves from physical food next week, may we be filled with His life and holiness and love.”

There are many good projects to contribute to in Israel, but the BEST place to donate will enable the Body of Messiah in Israel to minister to Israelis and fulfill their calling to the nation as witnesses of the love of Yeshua.   This week we have heard from numerous Israeli ministries who are doing humanitarian and other practical outreach in their communities.

Among those is the Netanya Chosen People minister, Brian Slater, who operates Yeshua’s Fresh Bread in Israel providing for over 400 of the most needy in Israel every month with food, clothing and other needs including food vouchers for Holocaust survivors.  The ministry, like so many across Israel, are also preparing emergency stockpiles for the war(s) that many sense is imminent.   Brian writes, “We still are in great need of volunteers to help for this front line work. Please email us for any who may be interested at ruachyeshua@yahoo.com You will be blessed!”

Maoz, the ministry of Ari & Shira Sorko-Ram, writes of the political blowup that is going on between Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Obama over Obama’s refusal to meet with Netanyahu on setting “redlines for Iran.”  They urge the saints to pray writing, “A cautionary note against building hopes that such bench marks might detour Iran from its nuclear goals, is that the US has allowed Iran to cross seven previous "red lines" over 18 years with few consequences. How essential it is to pray that ‘eyes of faith’ will be opened in the Jewish state - from government and military officials to the man on the street. May they believe God alone is Israel’s hope for deliverance and redemption.”

Maoz is also partnering with the MJAA in a Joseph’s Storehouse project to prepare a warehouse of emergency products than can be distributed through the southern portion of Israel. Maoz has committed to raise $50,000 for the floor to ceiling shelving for the entire warehouse – 258 10-ft-long shelves that can hold 3 pallets of humanitarian aid each.  You can watch their video here.

The Promise Keepers-Israel HaTikva Project is now tweeting the needs that are coming in to them from the Body in Israel and are taking advantage of Twitter’s new payment system, Chirpify, that allows donations even as small as $5.  This is an excellent charitable focus that gives attention to the needy who are within the community of Yeshua’s followers in Israel.  This is something that FEW Christian donations do – help those from the household of faith.  With this Twitter payment system, HaTikva is able to help believers with things like dental treatments, shortfalls on rent and many other of the needs that believers in Israel.  See here.

Ruth Nessim from the Nahariya Fellowship has returned from the U.K. where she reports people were very hungry to know more about what the LORD is doing in Israel.  Her cousins and their families in London were also quite open and full of questions.  She asks prayer for her extended family who are showing openness to the Gospel for the first time in more than 60 years!  Truly this is a time that the fields are white unto harvest among the Jewish people.  Back in Israel, her Hasidic attorney wanted to seriously hear what she believed!  Pray for this lady and for those who the LORD sets in her path.

Ahavat Yeshua Congregation (Love of Yeshua) is making a move to south Jerusalem – their 5^th venue in 7 years of existence.  Pray for the changes they are going through, including the change of Friday night to Saturday morning Shabbat services.  There is a new vision and staff in several areas of the congregation, so they are asking for prayers throughout the transition.  (Change is rough! Don’t we all know it!)

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs: 

Pray for God’s complete healing of Katya Morrison at Tents of Mercy (Acute Myeloid Leukemia);  Uzi, Meir, Bob, Fruma and Katya and Rivka (an elderly member suffering severe back problems)  at Maoz Ministries, Ariela in Dimona and Brookie in the Galilee.  Tom, Nataly and Larissa who have all been diagnosed with cancer in Carmel.  Pray also for Kay Wilson suffering from PTSD after surviving a stabbing terrorism attack that her friend did not survive, and in her quest to receive proper post-terrorism financial help from the Israeli government.  Continue to pray for baby Netaley who is still in need of prayers.  Pray for Eddie and Lura Beckford whose recent move has been physically very hard on them, Lura suffering a broken rib in the moving process.
