Asked and Answered….When Will All Believers See?

When they therefore were come together, they asked of Him, saying, Lord, will You at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?  And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in His own power.  Act 1:6-7

"....and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." Luke 21:24               

For I would not, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.  And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob.   Rom 11:25-26

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

All eyes and warfare have been beamed on the Christ at the Checkpoint conference in Bethlehem over the past several weeks.  As we summarize these prayer requests from Israeli Ministries the CATC conference is in the midst of the final speakers. 

I applaud Dr. Daniel Juster for pushing past all the deeply dishonoring and disrespectful push back he has been getting for his commitment to stand in the breach between Messianic Jews and Palestinian Christians seek to reconcile and bridge those who are un-reconciled and whose disagreement is a flashpoint of division in the greater body of Christ, the international Church. Dan Juster is a man of great faith, spiritual understanding and Messiah-likeness. I support this apostolic  leader’s efforts FULLY.

During the week Israeli headlines were dominated by the Israeli interception of an Iranian weapons ship containing 40 surface to surface rockets; 181 mortar shells; 400,000 assault rifle rounds.  Destination? Gaza.  Currently on Facebook we are seeing reports from Yeshua Israel ministry that some 60 rockets from Gaza have rained down on southern Israel in the past few hours.

And today we must turn our eyes to Purim which is a fun holiday, but a serious time of understanding that Israel – because of its critical importance and key significance in God’s plan for the concluding of all things in Messiah – still faces powerful, supernatural opposition and hatred that is motivated by hell itself.

As Israel’s land comes alive with spring, from the pastor of Carmel Assembly David Davis’ lips to God’s ears:  “We hear the Lord speaking to us from Isaiah 43:19, ‘Behold, I will do a new thing!’ and our hearts are filled with fresh expectation that He is going to manifest His presence to us in greater measure than we’ve seen before.”  Yes and amen – we desperately need new thing from God’s presence.

Davis talks about their first Purim in Israel in 1991, as Russian Jews were flocking to Israel and Saddam Hussein was raining SCUD missiles into Israel.  He writes, “Amazingly, the war ended on Purim, when Jews celebrate by reading the book of Esther, and by giving gifts to each other,  As I stood on the promenade overlooking Haifa Bay, mothers were taking their children to school for Purim parties…. The government later disclosed that the first missile that hit Haifa missed the major chemical storage containers at the port by fifty yards! God watched over Israel again. He is faithful to His covenant.”

Davis says of the current persecution of Jews amidst the upheaval in the Ukraine:  “Shockingly, but not surprisingly, amidst the bloodshed in the streets of Kiev, Jews are being blamed again, as pamphlets distributed by members of the Russian Orthodox church incite violence against Jewish people, with accusations that Jews murder Christian children and use their blood to make Purim pastries.”

It is hard to believe in this day and age that accusations so wildly ludicruous could move people to violence and hatred of Jews, but any veteran of supporting Israel has heard this and 10 times more craziness.  Why are people so willing to believe such outrageous things?  Because it is demonically inspired.  If Israel was un-important, the devil would not waste time on them. Selah!  If Israel was not significant to the summing up of all things in Messiah, then every cult in the world would not have some aspect of Jew-hatred contained in their guiding doctrines. 

But God will prevail – even against all the odds.  Pray for many who are held in the grip of this demonic hatred of the Jewish people to have a Damascus Road experience.  This is part of the Esther call today, to stand in the gap for mighty deliverance from the power of the evil one.

As Eddie Santoro of the Ahavat Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem adds to these thoughts on the Purim story of Esther, “the Spirit of anti-semitism which was active then and still active today is always determined to destroy the entire Jewish population. Satan understands very well that Israel must be present at the return of the Lord. If Israel were to be destroyed, then the Lord could not come back. Yeshua must return to the Mount of Olives in his beloved city of Jerusalem. And there must be a multitude of Jewish believers on that day crying out; ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.’ And he must rule and reign from the city of Jerusalem during his millennial Kingdom. “

Will you read the Book of Esther which is such a prophetic picture for us today?  Santoro notes that after Esther’s intercessory prayer AND ACT, “The gallows that had been built for Mordechai were instead used for Haman and his wicked family. The day that had been set for the destruction of the Jewish people was transformed into a day in which Israel's enemies perished.”

Israel Pochtar, another Messianic Jew who gets targeted because he is out seeking the lost sheep of Israel, has a special gospel outreach event where they fill up a tourist buses with 300-350 non-believer Israeli citizens giving them a tour of Jerusalem.  Biblical history is shared, and at the end is a praise, worship, preaching of the gospel, call to salvation and prayer for healing.  These tours are making a difference in the lives of Israelis, “"You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah, "Here is your God!"" Isaiah 40:9  You can help. Evan Levine is the director of the HaTikva Project in founded by Promise Keepers’ Bill McCartney and Raliegh Washington.  This organization is really great because it specifically seeks to help poor believers in Israel while advancing the kingdom.  Many Christians do not understand why it would be necessary or good to help the needy believers because “they are already save”.  Precisely!  If you will not help the family of God, you testimony of good will is pretty darned shaky! 

But HaTikva is helping believers who are in need, like the recent recipient of assistance that “L” a single mother and recent immigrant from Ethiopia received.  HaTikva helped her out with some basics – food vouchers for groceries and providing a financial counselor to help her develop a comprehensive financial recovery plan that includes financial aid from HaTikva Project.  This is practical – and a witness that brotherly love is R-E-A-L.

From Revive Israel ministries, besides another excellent mini-teaching by Asher Intrater How Difficult to Crucify the Flesh  is an interview with Ariel who is just embarking on a ministry trip through Asia – Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea, China and Japan.  For many years we have seen a shift of Israeli ministries engaging with the Far East churches and one major reason is they are on fire believers, with openness and curiosity to understand Israel’s role in God’s plans.  Pray for this trip to yield abundant fruit and God’s protection over Ariel and his family at home.

Joel Jelski and his beautiful bride Teresa are about to wrap up their U.S. ministry trip.  I had the opportunity to meet with them in Dallas and just have to say that Joel has landed himself a delightful young woman for his wife.  Guileless.  May the Lord continue to bless them and give them favor and grace.

Calev Myers has wrapped up “a successful tour defending Israel's legitimacy at traditionally hostile campuses in the San Francisco Bay area” during the week of “Palestinian Human Rights Week” events held on many US campuses.  There is a great push on US campuses that is anti-God on every level, including demonizing Israel as an evil oppressor.  The enemy always targets youth – if not with indoctrination and deception, then with other means of destroying them.  This generation is at stake and we must contend for them.  Hear Calev’s address at UC Berkley

The Jerusalem Institute of Justice writes, “…we advocated respectfully and forcefully for fact-centered discourse over ideological sloganeering.  JIJ's extensive research has given us the credibility to expose the underlying dynamics of the human rights issues that divide Israel and the Palestinian Authority. We gave all who attended these Human Rights Week events the intellectual tools needed to defend academic and political freedom wherever it comes under attack.”

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs: 

• David & Karen Davis of Kehilat Carmel ask prayer for their son, David, who was in a serious car accident in February and has a broken neck. We are thankful he is not paralyzed, but he still has intense pain and is in a strong neck brace to prevent further damage.  They also ask prayer for Pam Singer, one of their deaconesses, as she undergoes knee replacement surgery on March 19.
• Shlomy Abramov of AwakeIsrael asks prayer for his wife who went in for a surgery, there was a complication and she almost died.  She is home but Shlomy had to hire a 24/7 nurse. Miriam is very weak, anemic needing an infusion of iron to help in producing the blood.  Doctors expect a month before recovery.  They need a miracle.
• Arni & Yonit Klein of Emmaus Way request prayers for staff in the U.S. (Becky and Keith) and in Germany (Hannah).  We reported the extremely serious injuries of Keith and of Hannah months ago, now in caretaking Becky is also suffering physical strain and pain.  Keith is beginning to be able to move both legs a bit, but Hannah is still in intense physical therapy with pain spreading.  They would appreciate prayers.
• Howard Bass at Nachalat Yeshua asks prayers for German (pronounced with hard 'g'), who suffered a stroke a couple of weeks ago.  German is 83 yrs old, but has been in excellent health.
• Brian Slater’s wife Racheli has suffered a broken hip/Femural Neck Fracture from a fall in their home. She will be on crutches for two months. Appreciate prayers.
• Four elder ministry leaders in Israel, are dealing with Parkinson’s which is a neurological syndrome.  Since they have not shared this information, I will just ask for you to please pray for them each to be able to continue to live normal lives, and for the hand of the LORD to bless them with healing.
• Harvest of Asher   Elena is in need of continued prayer. The tests for the cancer all came out good. However she is still receiving chemo and experiencing extreme side effects. Please pray for a 11-yr old autistic boy who functions at a high level, but has declined emotionally with a change in schools this year.  Pray for Marina & her daughter suffering from a genetic hearing disease.
• Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
• Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the Purim 2008 bomb blast –  all this time later there are still painful procedures, lack of recognition from the government of this terror victim status.  As we again come up to Purim, this is a strong reminder to the whole family about what happened to Ami and to their lives when a self-righteous religious man took upon himself to destroy someone he did not agree with.  Pray for the Ortiz family especially during this Purim season.
