Priority Prayer Focus
As the week progressed we noticed a key point on the minds of Israeli ministries was the increase of spiritual warfare they are under as believers in Israel. They carry the same pressures as all Israelis of being the target of demonic hatred as Israeli Jews, but they also carry an additional target on their backs because they are the FEET OF YESHUA IN THE HOLY LAND. They need the help of spiritual warriors to do all they have been called to do.
Pray that the efforts to inform and educate Christians on how to support the DESIRE of the LORD for Israel to begin to make greater headway. For breakthroughs in the learning curve that will release an Issachar anointing among the intercessors for Israel.
Arrows from Zion Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in IsraelAs the week progressed we noticed a key point on the minds of Israeli ministries was the increase of spiritual warfare they are under as believers in Israel. They carry the same pressures as all Israelis of being the target of demonic hatred as Israeli Jews, but they also carry an additional target on their backs because they are the FEET OF YESHUA IN THE HOLY LAND. They need the help of spiritual warriors to do all they have been called to do.
Pray that the efforts to inform and educate Christians on how to support the DESIRE of the LORD for Israel to begin to make greater headway. For breakthroughs in the learning curve that will release an Issachar anointing among the intercessors for Israel.
Have you noticed in recent weeks the online Israeli newspapers in an
uproar over the religious ultra-orthodox incidents forcing their convictions on
other Israelis? Messianic believers have
been the central target of that persecution for many years, now it is
predictably spilling over into the general population. The Sorko-Ram’s have put out an informative
YouTube video to explain what is going on called Jews vs. Jews…the Battle for
Israel.
This religious vs. secular battle does not remove the Israeli Body of Messiah from continuing to be a central target of persecution. Their very presence in the Land is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen – when the Messiah will rule over mount Zion and the “Holy Land” will truly be holiness unto the LORD.
As one Jerusalem pastor wrote last week, “The battle between the forces of darkness and the Kingdom of God is intensifying. The center of this world wide battle is Israel and the most contested place within Israel is the city of Jerusalem. And finally within the city of Jerusalem, the Body of Messiah is the ultimate target. Our presence in the city of Jerusalem is a prophetic declaration that the day of the Lord is drawing near.”
This religious vs. secular battle does not remove the Israeli Body of Messiah from continuing to be a central target of persecution. Their very presence in the Land is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen – when the Messiah will rule over mount Zion and the “Holy Land” will truly be holiness unto the LORD.

Pray for the Body of Messiah in Israel for the battle against them does
not come out just in one direction but in many directions – from the enemies of
the Jewish people and from the enemies of the gospel. Pray Deuteronomy 28:7 "The LORD will cause your
enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come
out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.”
The Jerusalem pastor nailed it: “Every
victim of terror in Israel is ultimately attacked for being a manifestation of
God's prophetic promise to restore Israel. How much more is this true for those
who carry the promise of the spiritual as well as the physical restoration.”
The Messianic attorneys of the Jerusalem Institute of Justice reported
two recent victories for Israeli Messianic Jews who were targeted last year by
religious intolerance and one case of discrimination in a citizenship rights
case. In the first incident, Israelprayer notes that for many weeks
during the summer of 2011 we were providing prayer points for
intercessors. This is where the
spiritual warfare intersects with the steps taken in the natural to combat
persecution.
The Jerusalem Institute of Justice has successfully handled over 440 cases including 18 Supreme Court victories, which contribute to the advancement of religious freedom and overall democratic values in Israeli society – clearly the law is on the side of freedom, but justice is often achieved only by an answer from Heaven. Being able to pray in an informed way as events are unfolding undoubtedly undergirds the success of these Messianic attorneys who stand up for the Body of Messiah in Israel.
Prayer also helps breakthrough in giving the media eyes to see. As one Christian journalist who covers Muslim persecution of Christians admitted, “I want to apologize. I thought your persecution (Israeli Messianic Jewish) was not real.” This is still a major hurdle to overcome in the Israel-supporting Church – to have eyes to see the truth of these matters and stand with the Body of believers.

Enemies without and enemies within…and then really within! Pray
also for the saints in Israel to do personal, individual battle over the spirit
of offense rising up against each other.
The battle that goes on in our own minds is really the greatest battle
than any of us ever face and must gain victory in if we are to be effective for
the purposes of the kingdom of the LORD.
Psalm 103:8 “The LORD is merciful and
gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.” We are called to
be like Him.
We are hearing reports of influential Israelis who are coming
to the LORD – this is not like the ‘urban legend’ stories that circulate about
70 rabbis who have secretly come to faith – this is real. Pray for “M” an influential Israeli who
recently came to faith. Pray for the
seed planted to be protected and for this person to receive the watering of
discipleship that will anchor his walk in faith.
The gospel is also being shared in Muslim communities by Jewish ministers and also by Arab pastors who are financially supported by Israeli Jewish ministries. The witness of the power of Yeshua to unite Jewish and Arab brothers in Messiah to labor together for the salvation of their people is a mighty work that God is doing mostly under the radar of the world – including the Church. Pray for these strategic alliances: “There is one Body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling.” Eph 4:4
An evangelist based out of the Tel Aviv area but who ministers throughout the streets of Israel as the Spirit leads, also finds himself targeted by the “missionary police.” He is also featured in photos on a Jewish “anti-missionary” activist website – with a red circle drawn around his face and labeled “Kotel bandit”. Pray for Yeshua to be revealed to these persecutors of believers like the apostle Paul before them. Ro 10:2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

In Arad, all the nuisance court cases against the Beckfords have
been resolved, but they are back in court helping other believers answer false
charges. Pray for the courts in Israel as
“lawfare” is a common tactic to wear down believers through expense and the
stresses of defending against false charges (like assault). Pray also for the police departments and city
governments where Messianic Jews often do not receive due notice when violated –
even when children are intimidated with death threat.
Pray for those Messianic believers who not only are not persuaded by intimidation to run away from the areas they are being afflicted in, but who are instead pressing into greater visions of setting down deep roots in the location. We know of so many with great visions from God to build spaces for the Body of Messiah. Pray for provisional breakthroughs for each of these visions in the Name of the LORD Yeshua.
There are so many expressions of the Messiah’s love in the diverse ministries of Israel – like the many colored coat of Joseph each of the expressions is beautiful in their own right. There is no reason for every ministry to be exactly like the other, but only for every ministry to faithfully be about the Father’s business that has been given to each of them. It is not a competition – it is a magnificent orchestration that together produces beautiful music calling the lost to safe haven. Pray for the different expressions to value each other.
Messianic congregations in Israel are filled with people who need jobs and it is a longstanding issue for the pastors. Pray for the favor of the LORD on those who need jobs. Pray also for the provision of the ministries who are doing humanitarian aid – not only among their own communities but in the highways and byways.
Pray for the Israeli ministries embarking on tours and also welcoming in conference attendees: "Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall yoube when you go out.” We thank God for a quick good report overnight after hearing that Joseph Shulum of Congregation Roeh Yisrael had to be rushed to a NYC hospital upon arrival from Israel with heart attack symptoms. Followup tests have been negative and Shulam is feeling much better, though doctors continue to test. Pray for this pioneer of faith in Israel to be able to continue in his planned journey.
Other Urgent Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue
Pray for those Messianic believers who not only are not persuaded by intimidation to run away from the areas they are being afflicted in, but who are instead pressing into greater visions of setting down deep roots in the location. We know of so many with great visions from God to build spaces for the Body of Messiah. Pray for provisional breakthroughs for each of these visions in the Name of the LORD Yeshua.
