 Priority Prayer Focus Oct 30, 2013

A friend in Israel climbed this last stairway to Heaven to be with God on Thursday. She built the steps in her lifetime, loving Yeshua, her family, friends - the little children of their congregation at Tents of Mercy. She loved her people, Israel, and lived a sacrificial life laid down to the purposes of God for Israel to know Messiah is Yeshua. Many are grieving the loss of Katya Morrison today but they are not without hope for they know that our loss is truly her gain as she has entered into the eternal presence of God. Katya is now fully at peace.

Every week we ask for prayers for God’s servants in Israel who are in urgent need of care. One of them, Tom in the Carmel region is in a fight for his life right now against a cancer causing him terrible pain.  Please pray for these saints of God in their time of need – especially those in urgent need.  God bless you all and comfort and strengthen their families who are standing with them in faith.

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Evan Levine, who directs the Promise Keepers-sponsored HaTikva Project in Israel, is blessed to be in a position of providing financial resources that are specifically designated to the household of faith FIRST in Israel.  Trust me: not many organizations collecting Christian donations for Israel can say that. Most do not even consider how critical the idea even is. 

While there are a wide variety of way that HaTikva Project is helping our spiritual family in Messiah in Israel, now they are taking it a step further by raising up a GREATLY needed dental clinic (dental is not covered in Israeli health service) that will minister not only to the Body in Israel , but also be an outreach service to the general Israeli public.  Subsidized by donations, staffed with believers, this dental clinic will offer expensive treatments at or below 20% of market cost – from Jerusalem. 

Over many years of communicating with the believers in Israel, this issue of the dental expense has come up many times, and others have had a vision to do something about it for the Body.  HaTikva Project looks to be the organization that can pull this off and what a blessing it will be if Christians catch the vision of how practical help like this to the ministries and believers of Israel can forward the kingdom!  See inside the attached Weekly Summary for more on the clinic Prospectus.

The Old House of Beer Sheva where Yeshua’s Inheritance is housed has been a really busy period hosting various events for the Body of Messiah in Israel – from conferences to baptisms for other congregations in the area, even seminars for Shabbat schools.  Next up is the annual event to commemorate the “Beer Sheva Charge of the Australian Lighthorse in their break-through victory over the Turks -- with help from the New Zealanders and the British -- literally opening the way for the Allied forces to take Palestine from under the Moslem rule of the Ottoman Empire, and preparing the way for the Jewish people to return to be legally reestablished on their own land, which God promised and swore long ago, “ Howard Bass wrote.

Howard asks prayers for the event and also, “PLEASE PRAY with us that the property will continue to be a blessing to the wider Messianic community, and that its upkeep will be enabled so that it is honoring to the name of Messiah Yeshua.”

Those Israeli ministries who operate throughout Israel – just not in Jerusalem or the Galilee – often fell like the proverbial ‘red headed step-child’. (No offense Martha Stern!) Christian tourists don’t much flock to Beer Sheva so the opportunity to forge bonds with the local believers clearly does not happen for them as the multitude of ministries in Jerusalem.  Look, if all the ministries of Israel were located in Jerusalem how would that help the Israeli people?  We need to broaden our vision to include the laborers in the harvest going on in even the out of the way places of Israel.  The Beer Sheva congregation is a good example of the unsung heroes of Israeli ministry. They could use your help in prayers and material support.  The banner was made for Yeshua’s Inheritance congregation by an Australian woman to depict the One New Man of Ephesians 2

The Maoz Ministry of Ari and Shira Sorko-Ram thank intercessors for their prayers for Israel’s protection noting that the IDF killed a terrorist earlier in the week and noting that otherwise Israel had been unusually quiet.  Since then, of course, the IDF is thought to be behind the air attack on the Syrian port of Latakia, specifically the storage area where intel had established that weapons were being transferred to the terrorist organization Hezballah.

I want to say a word about the ministries that focus almost exclusively on sharing news related to Israel in the political or threat level sense, without an equal attention to communicating what is going on in the spiritual harvest in Israel.  This is not Maoz, who have always been balanced in this respect, but many ministries are not balanced – including some from the Israeli  Body who rarely, if ever report on the gospel being shared with Israelis.   When a ministry exclusively shares about Israel’s battles in international politics and physical fights with their neighbors, this does a great disservice to the Church who are seeking to support Israel.  If they are led to believe that the only battles that count are the ones Israel fights politically or militarily, then that leaves the impression that the spiritual work Yeshua is doing in Israel by His Body is not worth mentioning.  That is upside down prioritizing. Understandable that many in the Christian organizations haven’t yet gotten that point, but it is unthinkable that Israeli ministries would continue to indulge in sending that message out to the Messianic communities in the Diaspora and to the international Church. Selah.

Maoz also mentioned the string of earthquakes that happened in the Galilee last week.  Israel says it is not prepared to deal with a large earthquake which experts say the nation is overdue in being hit with according earthquake studies.  Little has been done to change the readiness, so please pray for the LORD to cover His people in the face of these things.

Ruth Nessim in Nahariya is happily announcing the birth of her 14^th grandchild, a son born to son Michael and Annie.  Mazal tov!  Please continue to pray for Shoshanna, a Holocaust survivor who has been a close friend of Ruth’s for years but has not yet made Yeshua her salvation.  She may be as close as ever now having read the book Betrayed! and realizing it is the same thing Ruth has told her for years.

Pray also for another Holocaust survivor who has come to the congregational meetings for years but has not made the leap of faith to receive Yeshua. Time is running out for Holocaust survivors – a people with incredibly deep wounding that Yeshua is able to heal to the uttermost.

The Caspari Media Review summarizes Yad L’Achim (the anti-Messiah religious activist group) targeting a coffee shop hosted in the Jerusalem building that houses the King of King Community Ministries.  If you read about the apostle Paul before God knocked him off his high horse and revealed the identity of the Messiah to him, then that gives you the same picture we see today in the religious persecutors of believers in Israel.  They are a nasty, angry, potentially deadly opposition to the Jewish believers in Jesus, but like the apostle Paul, they can be enlightened by God in an instant!  Pray that many will. Yeshua said the prostitutes and the tax collectors would come to Him faster than the religious, so pray for them too! Just because the religious Jews are often instantly recognizable to Christians doesn’t mean that God is more interested in their salvation than the addict or street walker – or even the regular secular Israeli!

Arni Klein writes about their experience this Sukkot with a One New Man gathering in the Ben Hinnom Valley in Jerusalem.  Arni has a prophetic anointing so I am not even going to try to break down his prophetic takeaway from the things they experienced, but will encourage readers to open the attached Weekly Summary are read for yourself.  Breakthrough is coming – but probably in the midst of pressures that we are not really prepared for.

Israel Pochtar of Beit Hallel gives a report of the things that are going on in their ministry to the youth of the congregation.  He wrote, “We place great emphasis on investing a lot of time and resources into our youth and it's a great joy to be able to be able to share with you some updates and testimonies from our work with the youth.”  They have a 3-day youth conference coming at the end of November. Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs: 

• Harvest of Asher asks continued prayer for Elena. She is recovering at home and has had some progress in that she has begun to go up and down stairs. Please pray from the situation at home as it is not easy for the entire family.  They also ask prayer for M. who is still in need of prayer for her physical condition. She is waiting for test results and pending an appointment for a second opinion on the condition of her ears and hearing. Thank you for standing with her in prayer, it is making a difference. 
• Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
• Tom Bender Tom’s wife, Ronit, sent us word today of Katya Morrison’s passing and asked us to please request that Israelprayer subscribers if they would please increase their prayers “for my Tom who is in the battle of his life.”  Tom in great pain from the tumor in his lymph node and is very low in energy.  This couple needs to be held up in prayer – for healing, for strength, for God’s presence to envelope them and guide them in all their decisions.  Please remember those who are fighting the good fight of faith for their lives and than nothing by any means will shake them.
• Uzi in Samaria is going to undergo a second surgery to remove melanoma cancer from his arm and is waiting for test results from another area on his body. Pray for complete healing.
• Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the 2008 bomb blast – and that he would win the appeal for government recognition that he is a terror victim.  It would mean benefits for the continuing surgeries and legal expenses.  See Leah’s report on the latest round of laser surgeries on Ami’s scarring in this issue.

Israeli Terror Victim Harassed by Cyber-Stalker

For some time Hamas terror victim Kay Wilson has been one of the Israeli believers we have asked you to pray for  because she continued to suffer post traumatic stress syndrome.  I was really shocked last week to read that part of the PTSD issue in Kay's recovery was due to the fact that she had a cyber-stalker persecuting her who even wentso far as to try to convince Kristin Luken's family that their daughter who was murdered in the attack on Kristin andKay had been actually murdered by Kay! 

At first I expected that the cyber-stalker was probably one of the religious opposition to the Jewish believers in Yeshua, perhaps tied to Yad L'Achim.  That was not the case.  Instead the stalker who was identified by a private dectective hired by Kay Wilson, is an Israeli business owner for high end exercise pools.  What would motivate  n Israeli Jewish businessman to anonymously abuse someone who had survived a stabbing attack but losing a good friend in the attack at the hands of Hamas terrorists?  Truly the devil made him do it.

“Jonathan Selby is the person who slandered me on the web, impeded my emotional recovery and contacted Kristine Lukens’ (Z”L) family to try to implicate me in the murder of their daughter.”

Read Kay Wilson's authorized statement about this ordeal and pray that her life will no longer weighted down with all these tragic events in her life.

Also from Asher Intrater, Revive Israel we learn this about Egypt:
Netanyahu urged the US this week not to withhold funds from Egypt, since the new government is doing much to rebuild civil and social institutions, and to restore the nation after the damage done by the Islamic extremists. In this case, the military led by General Sisi, acted on behalf of the people in ousting the Muslim Brotherhood from the previous government. This was the most "democratic" action that could have happened, but has been misunderstood by the West, which doesn't realize that real protection of religious and educational liberties is more important to a democracy than a one-time election. Pray for real reform in Egyptian society.
