While
Israel prepares for the High Holy Days of the latter Divinely-appointed and
deeply prophetic Feasts of the LORD, Israel is also acutely aware of the
intensifying of the drum beats of war that surround them. In fact, when Israeli ministry leaders
gathered for Sitting At Yeshua’s Feet
in September of 2012, it was decided to call an Israeli Body-wide day of Prayer
and Fasting about the increasing violence and chaos in Islamist states
surrounding Israel. The was on location for the
National Day of Prayer and Fasting in the Lavi Forest last October.
While
Israel prepares for the High Holy Days of the latter Divinely-appointed and
deeply prophetic Feasts of the LORD, Israel is also acutely aware of the
intensifying of the drum beats of war that surround them. In fact, when Israeli ministry leaders
gathered for Sitting At Yeshua’s Feet
in September of 2012, it was decided to call an Israeli Body-wide day of Prayer
and Fasting about the increasing violence and chaos in Islamist states
surrounding Israel.
On October 27th Israeli Messianic Jews and Christian Arabs – nearly 1,000 people – met in the Lavi Forest of northern Israel for this “National Day of Prayer and Fasting.” The invitation to stand in prayer agreement went out to the international church for three key issues: Restoring family values; Paying off national debt; and Fighting Islamic extremism.

That is probably why I’m finding much calmer comments
about the Syria intervention situation from Israeli ministries this week than
from any other group commenting on the debates about what to do.
You will find many strong assessments inside this first issue of September Weekly Summary of Prayer Requests from Israel in the attachment document. Also, there are the many events from a diverse group of ministries that are taking place over the next few weeks of the High Holy days. I hope you will avail yourself of the information that is shared in the longer Weekly Summary excerpts. We choose the specific excerpts from the Israeli ministries that most educate the international church about who the Israeli Body are and what God is doing among them for the nation of Israel.

Arni Klein writes about the expected impending strikes
on Syria, “There can be no doubt that
at the first explosion of an American weapon on Syrian soil a barrage of
missiles will be launched in our direction.
In truth, though we pray, we would be surprised if none land in
populated areas. Will the USA take two
days and drop a bunch of bombs and go home?
What shall we do between now and then?
What will you do? For those living outside the Middle East, it
could easily be bit like watching a movie.
You won’t be stocking supplies in the bomb shelter you don’t have. … To
be honest, we can’t really pray that this war won’t take place. It must come sooner or later.“
Arni continues, “Perhaps it’s not by chance that the decision whether the US will attack Syria and thereby plunge Israel into a state of war will likely be made by the US Congress during or just following the time of the Feast of Tabernacles…while we will be gathered in worship. Certainly your prayers will make a difference. As you pray…as you consider…as you envision your brothers and sisters standing in the valley with our hands lifted…will we be to you ‘them” or “us”? David Davis of the Carmel Assembly writes
“Over
100,000 Syrians have died, killed by other Syrians. Muslims continue to
slaughter Muslims, as we watch the images in videos and photos of innocent
civilians, mothers and children, writhing in agony from the effects of chemical
weapons. In Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood is targeting Christians, destroying
churches, including the buildings of the Bible Society. Egyptian pastors
are calling it the worst persecution of Christians since the Arab Muslim
invasion fourteen centuries ago. As British warplanes are moved to
Cyprus, American and Russian battleships are positioned in the Mediterranean
off the coast of Syria. Meanwhile the alliance between Syria and Iran grows
stronger. What should our response be?”

In his summation Davis writes, “In this critical hour God is opening His armory and is graciously
offering us His weapons of praise, prayer and proclamation. May we all
“take up the whole armor of God” and “be able to withstand in the evil day,
having done all, to stand.” (Eph. 6:13)
Howard
Bass also writes about the appointed times of God’s prophetic and redemptive
calendar given to Israel: “the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles) speak of the
Ingathering of God's people/harvest at the end of the age. God knows His own, and those who call upon
the name of the Lord will depart from iniquity.
One thing that God will not have in His people -- whether Israel or the
Church -- is self-righteouness.”
And,
Bass continues, “One prayer that is sure to
be answered by God is the one which His Son, the Lord Himself, prayed, which we
read in John 17. . . . . The Lord Jesus told us that there would be
wheat and tares until the end within God's Kingdom at large, within Israel,
within the Church. He says in connection
with this not to separate the two until the harvest, and then He would have
angels do that work of separation -- not us. . . . as the end of the age draws nearer, and the
necessity of this spiritual unity and love to be manifested, the devil is
attacking and doing his best to deceive the elect. The result is not more unity and love being
evident, but more judgmentalism and division in our own assessment of who is
really a true believer and who not -- before the time. Some things are clear, and require righteous judgment
within the household of God; other things require patience for the living Word
of God to bring the hidden things to light.”
Bass: “As this season of individual and
national soul-searching and forgiveness for sins is again brought before God's
chosen people and nation, we pray for more to be saved and come to the
knowledge of the truth.”
Contrast Howard’s observation about the
division and judgmentalism between brothers in the LORD with the observation of
Eddie Santoro about what is going on in the Muslim nations surrounding Israel: “The historic theological split in Islam
between the Sunni's and the Shia's is underlying most of the civil war conflict
in the different Arab nations. We are
watching the fracturing of their world into smaller and smaller segments. Each
part is fanatically convinced that they represent the true “way” of Allah and
are committed in utter hatred to kill and maim their Muslim brothers. The fight
is unto death and there can be no compromise.”
As Santoro notes, “All of this hatred is the
antithesis of the teachings of Yeshua.”
As Eddie delivers probably what seems to me to be the mind of Messiah on
the current situation in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Israel, he also asks for the
international church to pray that as the Middle East is in a clear melt down,
that the conditions will cause Muslims to be disillusioned with their faith,
and that they would be drawn to the pure love of Yeshua. Pray that the believers in these nations would
be a bright light in the increasing darkness. Truly Yeshua has a far better
way!
Eddie Santoro has had a great track record over the years for dissecting current events with a clear spiritual eye – one that even those in secular positions of governing power would have respect toward. The spiritual view of critical news stories is not the one that smacks of fantasy visions, but the one that cuts to the bone of reality dividing asunder what sounds right from what is right. Randi Bass also shared on the recent meeting
for the sisters in Beer Sheva and Arad that brought a speaker, Michele Cohen,
from Dallas to minister. Randi reflected
on the blessedness of the time for the women to come together in
fellowship. She also spoke of the answer
to a desire of her heart to travel to the U.S. to visit with dear spiritual
sisters who had once been based in Beer Sheva.
Pray that this time abroad will be nourishment and refreshing.
Ron Cantor – who is a world class communicator
– writes about the tension in Israel as civil war rages in Syria only 120 miles
from Tel Aviv and Egypt (even closer) may be heading down a similar path. In both countries Christians are being persecuted
and murdered – especially true in Egypt.
Israelis, who many just a couple of months ago could not be bothered
with the national emergency drill – not getting a gas mask and not cleaning the
storage out of safe rooms – are now waiting in long lines for gas masks.
As this heavy threat intensifies for all
Israelis it is against the prophetic symbolism of Israel’s appointed times
before God as pictured in the fall Holy days.
There are practical concerns: the spirit of fear and trauma that comes
huddling in a sealed room or stairwell waiting for missiles to land. Also there is concern for their children, the
young men and women serving in dangerous areas.
Ron’s daughter is once serving on the Syrian border.
Pray for the protection of all the Israeli Messianic IDF and all the soldiers. Pray also for the angelic protection that Israel enjoyed during the 1990 Gulf War when Saddam Hussein order 40 scud missile attacks on Israel. Even watching those attacks on television was nerve-wracking, so imagine if you were the one huddling in your family or building safe room waiting to see where the bomb would drop.

In the U.S. we get overwhelmed with all the
disagreeable things that the current administration is inflicting on the
nation, it is good that Cantor reminds us to keep President Obama in our
prayers for the very difficult decisions he must make regarding Syria. We must not forget that the heart of the king
is in the hand of the LORD and He can move kings one direction or the other. This is a decision that is almost a no-win
decision – so it really requires that we seek the mind of the Lord, not only
for ourselves but for President Obama.
Israel Pochtar of Beit Hallel congregation
says now is the time to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and the future of
Israel: “Comfort, comfort my people,
says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem..." Isaiah 40:1
In their Voice of Judah Israel Ministries, Pochtar says they will be focusing on being a blessing to fellow Israelis with holiday food packets that potentially may be used as war supplies. If you would like to sow into this humanitarian project, read more inside the attached Weekly Summary.

Uzi Lotan of Beit Hallel is featured on the
Maoz Israel website as this coming Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), Israel will
be commemorating the 40-year Anniversary of the Yom Kippur War of 1973. After
the Holocaust - the Yom Kippur War is considered to be the next most tragic and
devastating event in the Modern History of the People of Israel. My story as a
young soldier in the war, is published on the Maoz Israel website. To read it,

The Hebrew (Mercy of Yeshua) congregation in
Arad led by Yo-yakim and Debbie Figeuras, write about how God has been moving
over the summer among them. The write
about the believer youth summer camps that blessed so many children and teens
as congregations similar in convictions band together to provide this
wonderful, needed ministry time for young people.

Healing of a Blind Man by artist Brian Jekel
The Hasdey (Mercy) of Yeshua congregation also
writes about a rising faith for healing of the sick, writing: “We believe that
the Lord is building our faith so that we can then go out and pray for those
who as yet don’t know Yeshua.” Please
pray for an elderly man in Arad, Israel, who we will call Moshe. For many years
the members of the Arad congregation have been nurturing this man and his wife
who are not believers. Recently Moshe had a stroke and it has left him unable
to see out of one eye. The believers heard him say, when he returned home from
the hospital something very uncharacteristic for Moshe, "Only God can fix
this! Only God can fix this." The believers asked if they could pray for
him and he consented. They prayed for the restoration of his eyesight. Will you
join your prayers for this man that God would not only restore his eyesight,
but also the eyes of his heart?
Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the
tongue
Please keep in prayer the Israeli
believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs:
- Harvest of Asher sent a new & urgent request for prayer for Elena last week as new tumors were discovered. She is now been moved to hospital-hospice and continues to receive treatment although the prognosis is not good. Please pray for Elena and her daughter. They have prayed against the spirit of death and are holding fast in the faith.
- They also ask prayer for M. who had surgery not long ago and his system is going through many changes causing the need for various health issues to be addressed on a continuing basis. Please keep him in your prayers.
- Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
- Please continue to intercede for Katya Morrison at Tents of Mercy. She has the good report of no leukemia in her latest extensive testing. Prayers for her full recovery and victory over this disease is still needed.
- Tom Bender Please pray for the tumor in his lymph node to shrink and disappear; for his Achilles tendons and ankles to be healed from a goutish condition, so he can walk more freely. Both ankles have greatly improved in their mobility since our last report; and for no pain in the area of the enlarged lymph node..
- Keep Baby Netaley’s full recovery in your prayers.
- Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the 2008 bomb blast – and that he would win the appeal for government recognition that he is a terror victim. It would mean benefits for the continuing surgeries and legal expenses. At the time of this writing, Ami is in the U.S. undergoing more laser surgeries on his scarring.

This August marks the 6th month of the Jewish calendar, Elul. The month is seen as a preparation for the holy days (Trumpets, Atonement and Tabernacles) in the 7th month, Tishrei. During Elul, Orthodox Jews rise while it is still dark to chant a series of prayers called, Slichot. Slichot is the plural of the word for "forgiveness" – Slicha. Rising early to chant these prayers indicates an impressive discipline and commitment by our Orthodox neighbors.
