Here is a stat worth praying over: 'Majority of Israeli public fearful of visiting Jerusalem' due to security concerns | New poll surveys sample of Israelis from across the political and religious spectrum reports the Jerusalem post. "Religious Israelis were the most apprehensive according to the poll, with 61% saying they feared visiting Jerusalem in the past year, while 58% of secular and 53% of 'traditional' Israelis expressed fear."

Please pray for all those Messianic ministries in Jerusalem. Many of the recent attacks have been in close proximity to people we know in ministry there, and their children. We appreciate the fact that they do not allow fear to rule their lives, however we do ask that you would please keep up a prayer shield over them all.

From Ahavat (Love of) Yeshua congregation in Jerusalem, Eddie Santoro writes beautifully about the determination of those Messianics who have laid down their lives to come to Israel to serve the Lord. "Israel's call was not just to receive God's blessings but to be a light to the nations and to share these blessings with all the people of the world. They received so much and in response they gave so much.  We at Zion's Glory are deeply touched when we consider this foundational truth in our lives and ministry. We, like all who believe have received so much from God. We have been blessed in every way so that we too can give what we have received to others."

Kobi and Shani Ferguson share a family picture including grandparents looking onto the latest in their tribe to enter the Abrahamic covenant through circumcision on his 8th day of life. In a world filled with broken relationships and families, these beautiful moments are truly the sign of the Lord's blessing.

Eric Benson of the House of Victory, a rehab ministry of Kehilat HaCarmel in Haifa, shared five poignant real life stories of men they have been ministering to including one older man who was seemingly miraculously delivered of a lifetime addiction to both alcohol and excessive cigarette smoking. He only had withdrawals for one week - pretty astounding if you know anything about addictions. This, of course, is not the end of it, but the beginning as he learns how to walk in the freedom that has been granted to him. Pray for this man, "V" and for all the men who are being ministered to with love and wisdom at Beit Nitzachon.

Eric writes, "As I ponder the events and activities of this last month, my heart is filled with joy. It is a blessing to work with the men of this house, both the staff and students. Paul wrote about how we mutually encourage one another by each other's faith (Romans 1:12). Laboring in this harvest field continues to be a rich blessing from the Lord. Truly, it is a gift to have this privilege to witness transformation in the hearts of the men in our midst. Truly, we are being changed from glory to glory."

From the Karem-El congregation that is a plant of Kehilat HaCarmel, Pastor Daniel Sayeg writes about the trip the congregation recent took during their regular Shabbat service to visit Nazareth. They visited a site that has recreated first century life in Israel.  "Along the way, our Arab guide explained everything in Hebrew, and made Yeshua's parables come to life as he did so. He was obviously on fire for the Lord, and it must have been a wonderful encouragement to him to see so many Jewish Israelis who loved Yeshua and could quote his words off by heart. His pleasantly startled face said it all!"

The congregation has begun to reorganize and restart their weekly house groups so people can get to know one another better. They will build relationships as they discuss the message from the last Shabbat service. They ask for prayers for these groups taking shape "that we would grow deeper in our love for one another and for the Lord." Ron Cantor has a goal to print 4,000 copies of his Hebrew version of Identity Theft, a novel idea that has been instrumental in opening Jewish eyes to Yeshua as Israel's Messiah.  Already Israelis can read the manuscript online, but Ron wants to take it up a notch with a print version that can be given free by believers all over Israel. Just before Howard and Randi Bass of the Yeshua's Inheritance congregation in Beer Sheva leave for a ministry trip in Switzerland, they had to take time to honor the graduating medical students receiving their International Health degrees as doctors. The congregation for many years has been the 'home church' for so many of the believers who are attending this medical school. It is a unique aspect of their ministry in Beer Sheva. Read as Howard speaks of this year's grads, including one who was honored with the top award of overall excellence of the graduating class.

Also Howard shares an opportunity to share in a blessing to their young people and teens. One is a leadership training gathering in France for young adults (post-IDF) -- Israeli believers, both Jewish and Arab -- with good potential for leadership. There are three chosen from the congregation to attend the training in France at a cost of $700 per person. Also a group of 6 of their teens have the opportunity to travel to Ethiopia to help out in an out of the way medical clinic. The main expense for them is also $700 per person. Israel Pochtar writes to ask prayers for two Shavuot events coming up, the outreach they are doing in Jerusalem with 350 non-believers in a tour of biblical sites, and the launch of the new congregational plant in Rishon LeZion. They have 25 signed up for this course and appreciate prayers over it too.

A lady from the HaCarmel congregation who prefers to remain anonymous for security concerns sends us an update on her recent doings from her worship arts house in the Carmel region.  She has a new email address since hackers took over her former gmail address - please take note of the new one. As it is every first of the month, I have received more ministry letters than I can publish in one Weekly Prayer Summary. This is in order to keep the attachment and Arrows short enough that some servers will put them through to you - not deleting them as too long. Several ministry letters that have arrived in the past couple of days must be carried over to next week.

As a PRIORITY Prayer Focus this week I want to share a private conversation I had this week with one of the Israeli ministry leaders.  Let's let this inform our prayers for them:

"Today we had some news of some friends who were denied citizenship and realized anew and afresh that the warfare in this place is beyond!  I feel strongly that it has increased in intensity and we are in a new season and we will see and experience new and more difficult battles... but Praise the Lord, His glory will also be manifest in a greater way. So we appreciate your efforts and your intercessions for us - personally and as His body here in the Land."

One of my most favorite reports to read is the ministry letters from Rachel Netanel (If I can even say that because honestly I have so many "favorites" in the Israeli ministries it is like the love of a mother rejoicing over each one of her uniquely wonderful children - not that I am their mother, just the only way to express how so many of these delightful, courageous leaders so fill my heart to read what is on their hearts and their plates each month. If you don't delve in to get to know them, you surely don't know what I mean by this and the loss is truly yours.)

Rachel is a great model of what evangelism is in Israel and it breaks the model we are used to in the Western world of someone who comes to town, puts on a big meeting and then rolls out again to the next city and venue. Because of the wall that Jews have put up against the "Christian god Jesus" that kind of evangelism is not entirely productive in Israel. For example, Russian Jewish immigrants may respond to this type of evangelism in Israel, but native Israelis will not.  So, for the most part, Israeli Jewish followers of Yeshua do one-on-one evangelism. Of course there is also incredible momentum happening in social media efforts - Israeli Jews like the idea of learning about the beliefs of Messianic Israeli Jews from the privacy of their social media access. But as far as personal contact - one on one ministry is the truly powerful way to go.

In first Corinthians 1:22 the apostle Paul accurately observed that "Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom." So to the Israeli Jew the thing that speaks most powerfully is the sign of a fellow Israeli Jew whose life truly has the power of Messiah pulsing through it. That's what they see in Rachel - who was honest enough to confess that one woman she ministered to recently was so full of demons that "i was a bit afraid of her" until they talked and compassion for her sprang up in Rachel like bubbling living water. The Maoz Ministries of Ari and Shira Sorko Ram report on new leaders who were ordained for service at Tiferet Yeshua in Tel Aviv last week.  Ron and Elana Cantor, who has been leading the congregation for the past three years now steps into a new role as ambassadors for the congregation, and new pastor Gil, a native Israeli who has served the congregation many years was ordained with anointing oil and prayer. Another young couple stepped into official leadership within the congregation.

Katy Smith, who composes the Maoz ministry letters writes, "It is very exciting to witness a new generation (my generation!) step into the position of leadership in the body of Messiah in Israel. It is happening all across Israel, and Maoz is one of those leading the way through this process in organizing nation-wide leadership conferences and mentoring the new generation of leaders. But the beautiful thing to see is that the leaders who "step down" willingly to give way to this new generation continue mentoring, supporting, praying, and doing everything they can to see the new leaders succeed and excel. The previous leaders stay in their home congregations, continuing to support and encourage the new ones as they embark on their journey. So it's not that one generation completely replaces the other.  What we see here is an inter-generational leadership net, which is strong and is built on a good foundation.  This is the future and the hope of Israel!"  For more Maoz news see inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

In the past, official city and government agencies would reject the help offered to them by Israeli Messianic ministries so it is always considered a stride forward when such offers are welcomed - from Acco to Jerusalem! That's why Evan Levine of the HaTikva Project is so thrilled with the new partnership they have forged with the Jerusalem Ministry of Welfare for their new Dental Clinic.  This is such a great need and blessing to so many in Israel who cannot afford critical dental work. Evan writes, "I feel like God is about to exponentially increase our capability to minister and start new projects here in Israel. I have so many plans in my heart that I believe the Lord will use us to establish. Please continue to pray for us, to give, and to share our work with your friends and congregations!"

Israel Pochtar is feeling equally upbeat about the future, writing, "How incredible is the journey God has taken us on and the victory He has given us: only a few years ago we were going through a season of some very harsh persecutions that culminated in a very aggressive mass 1000-ultra orthodox demonstration against our congregation right outside our church building.  How sweet was to see the Lord's victory when we had organized our now first of several 1000-people Gospel Outreach events, where we had brought together 1000 non-believers to hear the Gospel for the first time! We rejoice in His triumphs over any opposition!"

It is exactly as the prophecy of Isaiah 60:2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon you, and His glory shall be seen upon you.

Shavuot (Pentecost) the ministry is launching two big events, Pochtar writes. Ben Juster sends a quick prayer list this week for the various Tikkun Ministries, which this month have been coming and going to the United States. First up he is off to join his mom and dad, Dan & Patty Juster in the US for the Tikkun America network events - their Apostolic Team and their Leadership & Family Conference. Ben writes, "The theme of this year's conference is evangelism. Pray for a resurgence of passion for outreach and practical equipping for reaching out to Jewish brothers and sisters with the Gospel."

As you know if you pay attention to this prayer summary, Asher Intrater has just returned to Israel from May in the US (Please do take advantage of the links to those messages we have and will continue to provide). Also Ben notes that "Eitan Shishkoff and Paul Wilbur are kicking off the Four Winds Tour this month. Did you know there is a Messianic ministry in Israel that has been taking care of elderly Messianic believers in Israel for the past 40 years?  The Kehila News Israel staff writes this wonderful report on the Ebenezer ministry.  "Stand up in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly, and revere your God. I am the LORD." Leviticus 19:32

Howard Bass writes about some cool stops for tourists in Israel that offer a little something different: "Many of you who have been to Israel are familiar with the alligator farm at the Roman hot thermal baths of Hamat Gader in the southern Golan Heights.  But do you know about the Nile Crocodile Farm, Crocoloco, in the Arava?!  It is located next to Ir Ovot and the Tamar Biblical Site, where there are believers who volunteer to look after the site.  (The Tamar site lies within the borders of the future Land of Israel: Ezek 47:19)  The Nile crocs are one of the most dangerous animals that the Lord has made, and fascinating how He created them to be what they are. What will it be like in the Millennial Kingdom when there is peace among and with the animals!!?"

Howard and Randi are about to depart for Switzerland with Christian Arab pastor Johnny Shawan who along with his German wife direct a wonderful children's ministry near Bethlehem called Beit A'Liga. The Shawan's are elders in a church in Bethlehem where the Bass' go every year since 2003 for Christmas services to show brotherly fellowship. "The main theme of our ministry there is that nothing can separate us from the love of God.  We will also be speaking how we interact as believers in Jesus with a hostile society.  Please pray that we would all be led by the Holy Spirit, so that our own relationship with each other is enhanced, and that there might be other opportunities to minister together that the Lord would  bless."

You may or may not know, but the fellowship between the Messianic Jews and Arab Christians in the Holy Land are essential and difficult. The politics make forging strong relationships difficult, but the love of Messiah makes it an essential effort for both sides to engage in. It is no little thing to cross over into territory where Israel cannot provide protection of those who do it. This is not just one congregation visiting another for fellowship, it is an act of faith and a declaration of commitment. Please pray for all those who break out of their comfort zones to do such things as this.

Howard also offers these online resources: "We have produced a new "thank-you" 4-min video for the congregation, which you can view here.  I have also posted a recent teaching that I gave as part of our congregational series on prayer, "Prayer of God's Family and Yeshua's Disciples".  We thank-you very much for loving Yeshua/Jesus, and His people Israel, as there is growing animosity to both in this world."

We have a great praise report for the Morning Star Fellowship (Or B'Darki) in Tiberias that is led by Claude and Michelle Ezagouri. A couple of long awaited permits have been secured for their new congregational facilities! This is a huge step forward as Israeli bureaucracy can be daunting; in many cases that is multiplied if you are a Messianic congregation in an especially religious area of Israel.  I won't go into the rest of the ministry details in Arrows, which is published online, but you can access more from them inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary

One observation from Ezagouri that I will note here:  "Israel has now sophisticated technical devices to unveil Hamas underground tunnels and some of these have already been exposed and destroyed. However some army strategists said that this could encourage Hammas to trigger a war in order to use the existing tunnels before they are discovered. This will be one of [new Defense Minister] Avigdor Liberman's main preoccupations and the Israelis, especially those living in the south, are waiting to see what his policy will be."

We received a newsy personal ministry letter from Avner and Rachel Boskey, excerpts of which you can read in inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary. Some of the highlights we want to mention in Arrows is the article Avner wrote about an important issue and topic among believers in Israel and the Middle East, The Isaiah 19 highway – prophecies amidst the potholes.

Martin Sarvis in Jerusalem also writes about how important work is being done in the prayer houses in Middle Eastern nations, including one in Turkey where two spiritual leaders in Israel have just traveled to in order to strengthen this work. He writes, "Some years ago, as a prophetic act, a menorah was taken from a 24/7 house of prayer in Jerusalem and placed in the house in Izmir; there have been quite a few goings-and-comings since that time."

Praying the Headlines

The Jerusalem Post Editor, Yaacov Katz, wrote an opinion piece last month about the 4 streams of Judaism (Orthodox, Conservative, Reform and Reconstructionist).  Katz asked for readers to write him with their own thoughts, Terri Morey who leads a Messianic congregation with her husband Eric in Poriya Illit, did. Her Letter to the Editor was published in the paper days later "We're still Jews!" (Scroll down in the link).

In her response Terri confronts the issue of traditional Judaism denying that Jewish believers in Yeshua as the Messiah continuing to be Jewish.  It is a interesting point that in all the messianic  claims that have been made in history and currently, that it is only the claim that Yeshua is the Messiah that brings an automatic exclusion of the followers from their Jewish identity. It's a very telling point. Terri also encourages people to respond to the exchange on the Jerusalem Post by writing their own letter.

Priority Prayer Focus May 25, 2016

We have never been closer to the greatest outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon Israeli Jews since Acts chapter 2 - and not only that, but it will be like Psalm 133 prophesies "like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron's beard, down on the collar of his robe". It will be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that spread throughout the nations!

Let's pray to understand and take hold of this throughout the international Church and the Messianic Body of Messiah.

NOTE: From time to time some of the Israeli Ministries fall off my radar;  I just don't receive emails from them anymore and because I am fielding so many each week, sometimes it takes a while to even realize someone is missing. In this case, I had assumed that Brian Slater of Abundant Bread of Salvation had just focused his communications efforts on Facebook instead of emails. Ministries that don't have big staffs to help out often change up the way they do support outreach.  But in this case, Brian was wondering why I never posted his ministry emails anymore so he finally emailed me to ask. I'm so glad he did, because something - not him and not me - changed so I was no longer receiving his emails.  It pays to speak up! Please do.

Brian Slater does humanitarian outreach from one of my favorite seaside Israeli cities of Netanya. His ministry is Abundant Bread of Salvation and he blesses the needy and Holocaust survivors, especially.  Not only do they provide the basic necessities of food and clothing, but they also take the Holocaust survivors on day trips to other parts of Israel that many have never seen, like the sea of Galilee.  There the people are treated to music by local Messianic worship artists, a visit to the Galilee Experience, a boat ride across the Galilee, a trip to a Messianic art gallery and much more.  Read all about a recent outing inside the attached DOCX Weekly Summary and learn how you can participate in this ministry with a big heart for God's people.  ALSO: Brian requests prayer for his upcoming speaking tour in the UK from June 15-27.

“Get ready, be prepared, watch and see what I the Lord am ready to do beyond your vast imagination. From Maoz Ministries, ministry writer Katy details ongoing political rumblings in Israel, and missile fire from Gaza.  Almost every nation in the world is undergoing intense political upheaval in its leadership. Rather than going into the details, I believe we must be praying that regardless of what it looks like, we pray that God's will for each nation will prevail. Sometimes the 'medicine' is bitter to the taste, but the final outcome is healing. This may be what we are in for in many nations across the globe.

One thing we know is NOT the will of God, and that is that any should perish without Yeshua. Katy writes: Please PRAY for the rocket and RPG attacks to stop.  PRAY for safety for all Israelis living near the border with Gaza.  PRAY for protection for innocent citizens of the Gaza Strip, who are being used as human shields by Hamas and other terrorists based there.

Seeing lots of birth announcements from Israeli Ministries on Facebook lately. We send Mazal tov to the Hydes for the son Shayla and Ariel had last week.  We also received the very sad news of the loss of their babe in the womb from Stefan and Karen Silver. We send them our deepest condolences in this great sorrow.

Evan Thomas from the Netanya Beit Asaph congregation is still working hard to overcome the serious arm fractures he got months ago. It's been very painful but he is pressing toward re-gaining the use of his arm in things we take for granted, like driving or using garden tools. He is really focused on being able to handle a fishing rod by Jan 2017 when they have a return visit to Australia. Wife Maala is in her final term of school for her career in education. Evan writes, "The next 12 months will involve a significant amount of travel for both of us with Maala doing her fair share of speaking and teaching. We are excited about this!"  

On the congregational front, Evan's ministry associate Pastor Lev is busy with discipling, baptizing and even launching a 3-month Hebrew Ulpan program that teaches immigrants the Hebrew language using scriptural text. This has many of their students very excited to participate.  Evan writes, "One of the ways we alleviate the pressure of language is by adopting the western model of home groups – each based on a single language suited to its participants. . . . these home groups serve to form a solid ‘spiritual backbone’ where more personal ministry can take place. One last word of great encouragement from Evan: "The state of the State: Looking at our present security situation in Israel one could easily despair or choose to live in a continual state of denial. Neither helps – it is what it is! We have a mandate to pray and our faith certainly links us to our brothers and sisters in Messiah from all around the world – especially when God has our attention about what He is doing in this amazing Land. We often hear Christian visitors remark about how special it is "to walk in the land where Jesus once walked." All-too-often my own response is, “But you know – He is still walking here!” The Body of Messiah is alive and well and active.  

When Asher Intrater was in Dallas, he spoke at Destiny Church in Rockwall, Texas. From Asher's Revive Israel Ministries, Daniel Juster gives insight on the relationship that the Tikkun Ministries began to establish with Mike Bickle at KC-IHOP in 1990. Dan writes, "The connection came through John Wimber.  In those days, it was called Kansas City Fellowship.  A decade later the International House of Prayer was founded, which is an expression of the original prophetic vision given to Mike Bickle in 1984.  The prophecy was that Mike was called as a catalyst of a prayer movement that would lead to 100 million people praying for the salvation of Israel.  I was part of the beginnings of IHOP and was able to present the importance of the Messianic Jewish restoration.  This led to annual Israel Mandate Conferences where Asher Intrater, Eitan Shishkoff, and I were primary presenters."

From the Hasdey (Mercy) of Yeshua congregation in Arad is a very wonderful testimony about Yo-Yakim Figeuras' mother, and the honor that Israel gave her as a non-Jew who risked everything to save Jewish people during the dark days of the Nazi occupation of Europe.  Hannah, who was born in Holland, was just a toddler when the Nazis invaded, but her father worked to save Jewish friends and provided food coupons he was able to get to share with other families hiding Jewish people in their homes. The story of Yo-Yakim's grandfather is kept in the Israel Holocaust Museum, Yad Vashem. Hannah's story was shared with the young people of the congregation as part of their Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day observance to make the holiday more real to the young people. There are also prayer requests for the Arad believers, including a great praise report for Polly Sigulim and requests for prayers for her ministry operation Ark in the Negev, a refugee for women that must find a new physical location by July.

A super report from Christian Arab Prayer Warrior, Rania Sayegh in the Nazareth-based HOPE: House of Prayer and Exploits on their February conference, "For Such A Time As This". God is doing something among these women that is a great delight!

Last but certainly not least we have the report from Eddie Santoro in Jerusalem's Ahavat (Love of) Yeshua congregation. You can certainly hear the pastor's heart in Eddie as he writes, "As I attend our weekly meetings, I am continually impressed with the deposit of the Holy Spirit that I see in each person. As a pastor I try to encourage each to recognize this and to step out in faith. Everyone is unique and no one can take the place and calling of another. God has chosen and equipped each of us to do our part. In the Kingdom of God there are no unimportant people! No one is better, no one is worse. Each one of us is called to move out in faith and express what we have been given in order that the life and power of Yeshua would fill out meetings."

Continuing, "Two thousand years ago, Yeshua gathered people together and He lived out the life of God that was in him. The sick were healed. The demon possessed were set free and the dead were raised to life. Those who suffered rejection and abuse felt the love of God for the first time, and that love healed their wounds. It was miraculous, it was exciting! Today the Body has the same calling. If it is to draw many to Him, it must be an expression of God's love, power and life. Though I am grateful for all that is happening today, there is a longing in my heart for "MORE". We want and need more power, more love, more of His life. We yearn to see the signs and wonders that declare his wondrous presence."

"Please keep praying for us in Jerusalem.  And we will keep praying for you. Wherever you are and whatever you do. As we each move out boldly in the gifts that we have been given, we will see God's magnificent Kingdom manifest in Israel, in Jerusalem and throughout the nations of the earth. To Him be all the glory."

Once again, we thank you for being faithful to the call to pray for the Israeli Ministries, who are truly the hands and feet of Yeshua touching the people of Israel today. Who would not want to be a part of that?
