Each year from Rosh HaShanah to the end of Sukkot , the High Holy Days are a whirlwind of activities for the Jews especially in Israel because the holiday generates a lot of tourism.  For the Messianic Jews of Israel, this is also true because so many Christians also want to be in Israel during the Fall Feasts.  Believers are not only attending and putting on special events, but also playing host to visitors from the nations.  This prayer summary is reflective of the busyness of the season in that we have few prayer requests to share.  There is however plenty to pray about as the breaking news re: Israel never stops.

Pray for all of the congregations of Israel to receive refreshing from the LORD after such a season of busyness.  Pray over all the seed that was planted during the High Holy Days in the hearts of Jews regarding the Messiahship of Yeshua. 

Pray for Asher Intrater’s new book Who Ate Lunch with Abraham which is not only a breakthrough way to show religious Jews the pre-incarnate appearances of Yeshua in the Hebrew scriptures , but is also a breakthrough way to help Christians see that Israel was not God’s failed Plan A – but their salvation is truly key to the fulfillment of His Master plan.

Pray for the latter rains to continue – both those that are beginning to fall in the natural and for the watering of the good seed of the gospel testimony and witness in Israel.  Pray that during this season of replenishing rains that many believers will also be replenished and brought to new levels of maturity to lead.

Pray for a rain of righteousness and revelation to be upon the people of the LORD Yeshua in Israel and in the territories both Messianic Jew and Arab Christian.  We pray that as the spiritual rain continues to fall on these that it will wash away the conceptions that are not from the Throne of God so that what is left is that which is clean and pure in His sight.

Isaiah 52:8 declares that when the LORD shall bring again Zion, that the watchmen shall lift up with one voice and together shall sing with one voice – “for they shall see eye to eye”.   Verse 7 declares what it is we will sing together: “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good news, that proclaims (shama=hear, listen,obey & proclaim) peace; that brings good news of goodness, that proclaim salvation; that says to Zion, Your God reigns!

Thank God for His amazing promise that we shall reach the point that we see eye to eye with each other and with Him.  That we will reach the point where narratives fall away and what remains standing in our midst is His Truth.  As 1 John 3:2 puts it, Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

Two Israeli Ministries share their thoughts this week on how the nation of Israel responded to the live coverage of the return of Gilad Shalit from captivity.  Asher Intrater in Welcome Home, Gilad wrote: “In the 20 years I have lived in Israel, I have never seen the hearts of the people so touched, so softened, so unified. Gilad is certainly not the Savior.  Yet there was something in his appearance and demeanor reminiscent of the image of the suffering servant of the Messiah Himself.”  Read in the attached Weekly Summary.

The Ferguson’s of Yeshua’s Israel wrote of their experience of watching Gilad’s release being doubled blessed because they were able to  watch with visiting Lebanese Arab Christian friends who love Messiah and Israel.  Read their thoughts inside the Weekly Summary, and their report on Gilad’s release online in a longer article, Everyone’s Son

Shani Ferguson writes about the impact her recently released new worship album on people in her everyday life as a mom.  Over the summer her CD circulated among parents and staff at her children’s school, one parent telling her that she did not know how to explain what she experienced from it:  “It wasn’t so much what you were saying that gave me chills, it was something coming out of who you are.”

Pray for the witness of who the Israeli believers are – like actions that speak so much louder than words – to continue to draw Israelis to those who carry Yeshua in their hearts and letting Him define who they are in word and deed.

David Ortiz in Ariel shared an experience in his life recently as he sought to be pleasing to the LORD when confronted with dealing with a man who let David know his reproach for his faith. Afterward David experienced the presence of the LORD and rejoicing of God’s approval for bearing the reproach kindly.  Pray for the believers in the Land who are continually confronted with opportunities to be like Yeshua in the midst of enemies.  This is the strongest witness, able to melt the hardest heart.

Praise God that Ami Ortiz passed his college entrance exams and is now making applications to attend school in the U.S. as he stays with family friends in New York.  It is a great miracle of God that from the brink of death’s door that Purim season of 2008, God has restored this young man from the bomb blast and given him a bright future – even as a star basketball player! 

What a super testimony of the truth that God spoke to dad David in the hospital the first night:  God spoke to me directly and He showed me the death angel come into my home. Then He said to the death angel, ‘angel you can’t pass this line. You can’t take him.’ …In an instant I received light. I knew God was on the throne. I knew He wanted to glorify Himself.”

IDF soldier suspected of leaking military actions to West Bank settlers

Military Police investigators arrested an Israeli soldier on Monday, following suspicions that he had leaked Israel Defense Forces operations in the West Bank to Jewish settlers.

Israelprayer:  Many Christian Zionists who become involved in Israel politics do not understand that in backing some of the more radical of the religious settlers, they are in fact backing those who are a growing destabilizing force in the Jewish state.  The significance of the book mentioned, “The King’s Torah” is that it is used as a biblical justification for killing Arabs and was used to justify the Purim bombing of the Messianic Ortiz family in 2008.   

Palestinian membership in UNESCO is just the tip of the iceberg

The Obama administration is scrambling right now to find a way around the fact that existing U.S. law could force the United States to stop participating in the U.N. cultural agency UNESCO if the Palestinians are given member state status, setting a precedent that could repeat itself in a host of other U.N. organizations.

In another report on Wednesday, Oct 26^th, “Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyal al-Malki announced on Wednesday that the PA will pursue membership in the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) with a vote on 30 October, despite a threat from some of Israel's allies in the US Congress to suspend funding for the organization if the thus-far non-existent state of 'Palestine' is admitted as a full member.”

There is never a shortage of critical issues to pray over Israel between the tension of what the LORD wants to do over His people and what the enemy is attempting to do.  We have that good pleasure of entering into agreement with the LORD’s heart for Israel as He is sharing those visions among Yeshua’s faithful servants living in the Land.  During this busiest of seasons among the families of the LORD in Israel, let us join in with their rejoicing over one lamb that was lost among the 99 that has been recovered and restored to the fold.  Let us pray on behalf of the Gilad Shalit family that the LORD will not only retore him physically and heal the wounds of his soul, but that Gilad and his family will also be granted a revelation of Messiah Yeshua unto salvation.  Whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

On Monday an Israeli journalist/TV & radio personality contacted David and Leah Ortiz for their response to a petition in the Knesset to release Jewish “Price Tag” terrorists and confessed Yad L’Achim zealot Jack Teitel whose package bomb left at their door nearly took the life of their 15 year old son.   Their lawyer advised no comment – but between brothers in the Lord, the Ortiz family asks for prayers and action from those able to encourage Knesset members to throw the petition out.

The Ortiz family also discuss how Christian tourists are being warned not to talk to anyone about Yeshua/Jesus, not to have contact with the congregation of David Ortiz in Ariel, and in general not to have contact with the Messianic congregations of Israel.  They note that ex-believers in Yeshua are responsible for leading some of these efforts.  Pray for those that have fallen away – and for all of those tempted to trade desire for Israel over their faith in Yeshua.

We urge you to keep up your prayers for the entire Ortiz family. Because of the religious-terrorist bombing of this Messianic family’s home in Ariel, and the continued battle to bring the confessed perpetrator to account in the Israeli courts, the entire Ortiz family remain a potent symbol of the Messianic community in Israel.  They are therefore a special focus of hatred in some religious zealot circles.  No weapon formed against them shall prosper!
Last week we sent an urgent prayer request for Carolyn Hyde who suffered a stroke and we are happy to report the good news of her recovery.  After  being stabilized by doctors and an 11 hour sleep, husband Richard and their children gathered for worship at God’s word it would bring healing.  Carolyn’s ability to speak “increased exponentially”.  Later after more worship with the Shishkoff’s, her speaking ability was almost normal.  Read more inside the attached Weekly Summary & praise God for His merciful power.

Many of the ministries have offered their thoughts on the release of Gilad Shalit yesterday after five years in Hamas captivity in Gaza.  There are a lot of people saying a lot of harsh things about Israel’s deal to secure the soldier’s return.  Before you listen to any of them, Israelprayer urges you to listen to the spiritual insider views that are expressed inside the attached Weekly Summary.  What you will find is not just the pragmatic realties of the terrorist threat, but the how Shalit’s release is like a “Saving Private Ryan” moment for all Israelis. 

As the first Israeli Prime Minister, David Ben Gurion said, “May every Jewish mother know that she has put her son under the care of commanders who are up to the task.”  Pray for the Israeli Prime Minister and all their security forces – that no weapon formed against them shall prosper.  Pray that this deal will not make Israel weaker in defending against the enemy, but that it will gird them all to know what a single young Israeli soldier's life is worth to the nation.

As both evil and righteousness are coming to full maturity, pray for the glaring differences in the response of Israelis to Shalit’s release and that of evil delight expressed over the terrorists release will be understood by the all people who are honest and care for the truth.  Pray this not only for people in the nations, but also for Arab peoples whom the LORD desires to bring to the knowledge of the Son of God.

Inside the Weekly Summary, the Jerusalem Institute of Justice shares how their organization has participated in raising awareness about Gilad Shalit’s plight and shaming the double standards of supposed humanitarian groups like the Red Cross, UNCIE and others.  Pray for the work of this Messianic human rights organization which is the only pro-Zionist human rights org in Israel.

Pray that the hundreds of terrorists that have been set at liberty, some exiled to other Arab nations, will be foiled by the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, in any weapon they form against Israel, the Jews or Jewish interests.  While Hamas claimed these prisoners would be returned to terrorism service, we pray that the LORD would intervene with a mighty salvation.

The internationally touted and aided “Arab Spring” has placed Christians in those lands in extreme danger, meanwhile in Washington the Senate has been quietly moving to kill the U.S. Commission on International Freedom which issues independent reports on religious persecution of minority groups. Pray that instead of LESS accountability that the LORD would orchestrate MORE accountability!

Probably one of the busiest seasons of the year for evangelical Christian tourism, even with anti-missionary groups trying to breath down the necks of tourists to keep the gospel from being spread, there is no way to hide the light of love as believers took to the streets in an annual parade through Jerusalem.  Pray for the witness that is given and every outreach, every seed to find good soil that faith in Yeshua may take hold and blossom.

The unity of the faith was on display at the annual ICEJ Feast of Tabernacles celebration from Jerusalem which people all over the world were able to watch streaming live on the web.  A subscriber in South Africa sent a photo of Messianic Jewish brother Howard Bass and Arab Christian brother Stephen Khoury blessing the communion wine and bread.  A few days later Howard supplied his report of the blessing, which you may read about inside the Weekly Summary.

Howard asks prayer over the upcoming Negev Conference in Beer Sheva to minister to all the congregations of the Negev region.  Speakers will be Yoyakim Figueras of Arad and Labib Madanat, an Arab brother who served many years as the director of the Palestinian Bible Society.  Pray for open heavens over this conference.

Dear Ruth from Nahariya is a great inspiration with every report she files on her life reaching out to old friends – literally! from 85 to their 90’s – neighbors and even to her Arab taxi drivers who she makes a strong impression on as she travels to visit Jewish and Arab friends.  Pray for this lady who is such an honest light to the people she meets.  Pray also for their congregation in Nahariya, that it may grow and prosper, materially and spiritually.

Eddie Santoro has once again given a powerful account of the impact upon the nation as all Israel watched the release of Gilad Shalit over many hours yesterday.  You can read it inside the attached Weekly Summary and we encourage you to do that.  Santoro writes, “We encourage you to pray for Gilad Schalit and his family. His transformation from being a prisoner held in isolation for five years to being a free man will not be easy.”

The Santoros also write, “Please keep praying for our congregation and the unity between all of the believers in Jerusalem. These times of unity whether they be between leaders or the members of different congregations represent a significant advance for God's Kingdom in this city.”

Inside the Weekly Summary is also a blog link from David Lazarus of Beit Immanuel asking and answering the question, “What kind of a people releases a thousand murders just to get back one young boy?”

Like at small but mighty Gideon’s army, the Beckford’s from Arad made an appearance at the Knesset October 11^th in a Lift Up Yeshua awareness campaign.   Eleven people gathered outside the entrance to the Knesset holding signs that proclaimed, "Jesus is the only hope for Israel" "Jesus is the Jewish Messiah, our redeemer, and he is coming soon" and "Messianic Jews support Israel!".   Pray for the light of Yeshua to radiate from His people in the sight of all Israel.

The Silvers write of the prophetic fulfillment of Jewish weddings again in Israel, which is also a powerful picture of the coming wedding of the Bride of Messiah.

This field of cotton waiting for harvest was snapped within the last two weeks in Israel and is a perfect visual metaphor for the state of the spiritual harvest in Israel.  Pray therefore for the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth laborers into His harvest.

The High Holy Day of Yom Kippur is past and immediately the week long Feast of Tabernacles has begun. These are times that are key to God’s plan of salvation – not only His plan for all peoples , but very specific in detail of His salvation for Israel by the sacrifice of Yeshua.  During these special holy days appointed by God for Israel  to observe forever, these are especially ripe times when Jewish family and friends are gathered together for the witness of Yeshua’s life in His disciples to shine. Pray for them –those in whom Yeshua’s light indwells and those whom He is calling to receive the Truth.

Inside the attached Weekly Summary, many of the Israel ministries offer insights into the latter harvest Fall Feasts.  This is a view you cannot receive from traditional Jewish teaching on the High Holy Days but only through Messianic Jews who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, “having the eyes of their understanding enlightened.”

Thank God for the noticeable change in the Israeli media toward honest questioning into the beliefs and lives of Messianic Jews.  Israelprayer has always expected that it would be in Israel where there would be the first major paradigm shift in Jewish thinking towards Jewish faith in Yeshua.  The Israeli media continues to show a willingness to look deeper and this is a mighty shift to praise God for.

Inside the Weekly Summary is a Caspari Media Review summary of the Ha’aretz article which gave Israelis a Messianic view of “the function of "original sin" in Messianic Judaism” and  “the atonement for it which God offers”.  The article was published before Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

Pray for the seeds planted about the faith of Messianic Jews in the Ha’aretz special Yom Kippur edition to receive water, light and growing conditions that will cause faith to spring into bloom.  To be able to know on Yom Kippur that your name is already inscribed in the Book of Life is not minor matter.

Beer Sheva will be playing host to the 94^th anniversary of the charge that was led by the Australian Light Horse, with help from New Zealanders and the British.  Believers in the area are involved in hosting these groups in to remember the historical sacrifices and these are important events bonding those participants to a continued love for the land of Israel.  Pray for the bonds to grow and be fruitful.

Dr. Daniel Juster writes of the gathering of several believing congregations on a Messianic Jewish moshav (village) just outside Jerusalem.  How the groups came together to celebrate the Highest of the Holy Days in its fulfillment in Yeshua.  Read the story inside, as well as gather the link to the summary of Asher Intrater’s message on that day about the Great Shofar and the Second Coming.

Eitan Shishkoff offers a Messianic approach to the fast of Yom Kippur as all Israel – and indeed Jews all over the world took the day to wonder and seek God’s mercy for their sins and failings.  As the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies on this one day, wearing the breastplate of the 12 tribes over his heart, so Shishkoff sees it as a day to seek God’s mercies for Jews to receive the free gift of salvation in Yeshua.

Understanding our Jewish roots is not just so we can emulate traditional Judaism, it is so our identification can enter into the heart of God for Israel’s salvation in Yeshua.  If we miss this point, we are just playing dress up.  Pray for those who are drawn to understanding the Jewish roots of the Christian faith not be sidetracked down paths that do not lead to revealing Yeshua to the Jewish people.

Shishkoff gives thanks for the prayers that were made for violence and rioting to be averted following the Palestinian bid for statehood at the UN – violence was averted.  Also for the debt from the youth ministry summer camp being erased by one dramatic contribution.  Thank God for this blessing released and for the next Katzir conference which will take place during Chanukah.

In Carmel, the congregation hosted 50 hours of Worship and Prayer with worship and intercessory teams from around Israeli, as well as from Taiwan, China, Australia and the Ukraine.   Karen Davis writes, “With missiles aimed at us from all sides, as well as forces within Israel hostile to the spread of the gospel, our corporate, unified praise becomes a powerful ‘shield of faith’ to hold back the ‘fiery darts of the enemy.’ ”  Pray for those who are raising up a generation that will worship and praise before the Lord of Hosts (Armies).

The Carmel congregation also asks prayer for Sophie Benson, wife of Eric Benson who is the Director of the House of Victory rehab ministry for Carmel.  Sophie was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and needs the prayers of the saints for healing – faith and peace for the family including two daughters.

The Santoros of the Ahavat Yeshua congregation give a good overview of life in Israel during the Fall Feasts, from Yom Teruah, the Jewish New Year through Yom Kippur and into Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles.  Please do take advantage of reading the perspectives of Israeli Messianic believers – the called out ones in a Land God desires to call out multitudes to enter the kingdom.

The Silvers reflect on their recent trip to Canada where they met many Israel lovers, and many Christians decidedly NOT Israel lovers.   Observing the rise of Christian leaders pushing Chrislam, they wonder how some Christians can read the Bible and come away with such a distorted view of the Holy Scriptures.  Pray for Christians who have been deceived about God’s intentions toward Israel in this day.  Pray for the veil to be lifted and for the scales covering their eyes to be removed.

Praise the Lord for the good report from the Jerusalem Institute of Justice on the successful Boycott Durbin III protest they led in New York as the Palestinians made their appeal to the UN for statehood. Despite American Jewish efforts to remove traditional Jewish support from  the demonstration, and also downplaying the numbers who showed for the protest, JIJ says 3,500 people of various religious background participated in the protest.  Read the full report inside the Weekly Summary.

As we pray the final edits on this Weekly Summary and Arrows from Zion, news has come of the deal struck between Hamas and the Israeli government for a prisoner exchange of hundreds – perhaps even 1,000 – Hamas prisoners in exchange for Gilad Shalit.  Thank God for Shalit and his family.  The deal may prove tragic for other Israeli families in the future. Pray for the Israeli leaders to have the wisdom of Solomon in these decisions with potentially enormous repercussions.

While many visitors are in Israel for the holidays, an annual festive parade will be held through the streets of Jerusalem with believers from many countries participating.  Pray God’s blessing upon this parade and that it will minister to Israelis.
