Priority Prayer Focus Jan 15, 2014

Let’s set our prayer sights on all believers who desire to help Israel to awaken to the Lord’s #1 labor force in building Yeshua’s kingdom in Israel – the laborers in the harvest fields of Israel are the Israeli believers themselves.  Let us pray that as God’s  Ruth in this hour, we will go out into the fields to glean alongside the Israeli believers who are bringing in the harvest – that we do not stay at home just consoling bitter “Mara” but that we become helpmates to the laborers for the fruit of the harvest that  will soften the “Mara” (bitter) heart and return her to her “Naomi” (pleasant) inheritance.

Strategically Aimed for the Lord’s Harvest in Israel

Evan Levine of HaTikva Project is still waiting on the arrival of their second son who is now overdue his birth.   In HaTikva news Evan writes, “As we work towards the establishment of the dental clinic our fundraising needs are understandably higher than ever. We have also recently experienced a sharp decline in the value of the dollar versus the shekel. This affects us greatly as most of our donations are in Dollars.”

This is something that affects all the Israeli ministries with American donors because the dollars to shekels value rate is shrinking.  Pray that as the value of the dollar has shrunk that the number of donors to the Israeli ministries would increase.

Levine writes about a recent family that was helped by the HaTikva Project which seeks first to help needy believers, and secondly to lend financial aid as an outreach.  Believe me when I say that this is a unique ministry in Israel – not that congregations are not helping their own, but a ministry that has been set up specifically to address the needy believers in Israel is rare.  While most Israel-supporting ministries and organizations are bringing the lion’s share of Christian donations to Israel, they are completely by-passing any help whatsoever of the needy among followers of Yeshua.  In the state of Israel our first duty is to the household of faith – so how did this order get reversed making them them bottom of the pile?  See more from the HaTikva Project inside the Weekly Summary.

Guy Cohen, who leads a congregation in the spiritually strategic gateway city of Acco, writes about the feeling in 2013 that they were going through the birth canal (Oy!) but how they desire to expand their tents in 2014.  A larger facility for the congregation is high on the Harvest of Asher prayer list.  Two arenas Guy says he sees God blessing mightily is in their after school program and the pro-life program. 

The Israeli believers pro-life movement is extremely important as Israel has just increased its free “health coverage” by a new budget of 16 million shekels (USD $4.5 million) to cover all abortions for women between the ages of 20-33.  Many of the Israeli congregations operate pro-life ministries in their cities and the national pro-life movement of believers is Be’Ad Chaim, which is run by Sandy Shoshani in Jerusalem.  Learn more here.

Brian Slater in Netanya, who feeds the needy among whom are many holocaust survivors, is asking prayer for his wife who suffered a broken hip/Femural Neck Fracture from a fall in their home.  Brian also asks for prayers concerning volunteers for the ministry – cooking, serving, distributing to those who come in need…and those that are on a long waiting list to come.  Pray that Yeshua’s Fresh Bread in Israel will have ample helpers and abundant supplies to give to the needy in Netanya.  Many are also coming for prayer.

Many of you who have visited Israel have made your way to the 24/7 prayer and worship house in Jerualem called Succat Hallel, led by Rick Ridings.  The view from that prayer room was pretty spectacular over Mt. Zion but now after 9 years they have been re-positioned to a location with a direct view of the Temple Mount – this is the place that the throne of Yeshua will be established as King of Kings, and LORD of the whole earth.  See inside the attached Weekly Summary for the new address of Succat Hallel.  Watch this clip from worship in the new location.

Joel Jelski, who is one of the Israeli believers on staff at Succat Hallel, took part in a Houses of Prayer Seminar that they sponsored in Turkey recently.  Ridings writes that, “In addition to the Turkish participants, there were houses of prayer representatives from Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, and Thessaloniki, Greece.”  Jelski notes, “It is part of our vision and mandate to see houses of prayer be established all over the Middle East.”

Joel also adds, “There are many Koreans and Chinese going into the Middle East, especially Arab nations, to raise up houses of prayer. … God is taking people from the east and sending them to transform the Middle East, and He is giving them access into places western missionaries cannot go to.“

The Yuval Messianic Worship Center for Music and the Arts is a school in Jerusalem with the goal of “to qualify a generation of talented believers to use their gifts given by God in order to build God’s kingdom and the body of Yeshua in the land of Israel.”  This year the Yuval staff was in charge of gathering and writing all the songs for the play, “The Coming Star,” which drew over 2000 Israeli believers from all over the country to enjoy one of two performances.  One of the Yuval teachers commented: “What an incredible privilege to take part in this! Suddenly I understand that we in Yuval have a major part in shaping the Messianic culture in Israel, and that will affect the Israeli culture in general!"

The Arts school is sponsored by the Jerusalem King of Kings congregation, HaChotam Publishing and the Jerusalem Assembly- House of Redemption.  It is in the Clal Building where you may have read recently that anti-missionary activists have been targeting a believer coffee house and the King of Kings congregation.  One of the prayer requests by the Yuval school leaders is, “May we continue to evangelize without fear to everyone who comes across our way.” 

“And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto Your servants, that with all boldness they may speak Your word, By stretching forth Your hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of Your holy child Jesus.”  Act 4:29-30

From the Meyuseff’s in Kfar Saba, good news:  Did you know that if you want to plant a tree in Israel, as many are inspired to do, that there is a Messianic Jewish place to do that which also serves as a healing place for women who have repented of an abortion to plant memorial trees for their child?  Many Christians are inspired to plant trees in Israel  based on many prophetic scriptures about the reforesting of Israel when Jews return from their long exile.   

One of those scriptures is, Isaiah 41:18-20, "I will make rivers flow on barren heights, and springs within the valleys. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the parched ground into springs. I will put in the desert the cedar and the acacia, the myrtle and the olive. I will set pines in the wasteland, the fir and the cypress together, so that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it."  Please put the outreach of Messianic ministries at the top of all your priority giving to Israel.

From our intrepid spiritual warrior in Nahariya, Ruth Nessim, we learn that a good time was had by all the children of their Lebanese congregation over the Christmas holidays.  Ruth, herself, was suffering through a bout of flu, but still she managed to wrap up her children’s book on the Book of Daniel for children 12+.  She writes that it “is not just the familiar stories, but a serious look for younger people at what God is saying to us in this day and age.”  A joint project with the Illustrator, Jeanne Elisabeth, and our last joint effort, “The Stories of Esther and Ruth,” should be available for distribution soon.  Ruth hopes her next project will be, “please God, The Book of Nehemiah.”  Did I mention intrepid?

Urgent HEALING Needs: Life and Death is in the power of the tongue

Please keep in prayer the Israeli believers who are fighting for their lives or other urgent health needs: 

• Tom Bender Tom’s wife, Ronit:  The Pet-CT scan report is not good. Tumors have gone to the lungs, stomach, pancreas, intestines and the spine, some as big as 6cm. The tumor under Tom left arm has grown to 11cm.  Shall we continue to pray? OF COURSE! We trust the Lord of the 11th hour!
• Brian Slater’s wife Racheli has suffered a broken hip/Femural Neck Fracture from a fall in their home. She will be on crutches for two months. Appreciate prayers.
• Four elder ministry leaders in Israel, are dealing with Parkinson’s which is a neurological syndrome.  Since they have not shared this information, I will just ask for you to please pray for them each to be able to continue to live normal lives, and for the hand of the LORD to bless them with healing.
• Harvest of Asher   Elena is recovering at home from the last hospital stay. Please keep her in your prayers.  Pray for Omer’s condition and healing for Anna & Shimon.  
• Please pray for the wife of Ariel Ben David, who leads an Eilat Congregation, and also for his worship leader, both of whom were recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
• Pray for Ami Ortiz for ongoing issues from the 2008 bomb blast – and that he would win the appeal for government recognition that he is a terror victim.  It would mean benefits for the continuing surgeries and legal expenses.  See Leah’s report on their website of the latest round of laser surgeries on Ami’s scarring in this issue.
